Disposables are the devils work!

Just had to announce this!! Just come back from hols and put DD in disposables as I couldn't be bothered washing cottons while away and my god they really are sh*te!!! They stink of chemicals, I had gel stuff oozing out of them, she got nappy rash and ended up doing loads of washing from the explosive poos which ended up all over her clothes. Couldn't wait to get home and put her in her lovely, fluffy, big bummed Tots. Aaar rant over!!

Agree with oliveoil.

spidermama · 24/08/2005 10:33

Agree totally discodolly. I'm using disposies for a breif period because I'm going on holiday and I find them nasty and smelly and weird. I can't wait to get him back into cotton again.

edodgy · 24/08/2005 10:34

Gosh explosive poos? Have u been feeding her milupa? (running away quick...)

Caligula · 24/08/2005 10:34

Can someone recommend washables which don't leak?

DS 6 has fuzzybuns with 2 terry nappies inside, and they still leak. What should I use instead?

(The disposables used to leak as well though)

Toothache · 24/08/2005 10:36

Took the words right out of my keyboard OO!

Toothache · 24/08/2005 10:37

I especially like Pampers Active Fit...... is it still legal to advertise those..... even the newborn size?

oliveoil · 24/08/2005 10:38

I like pampers active too, wish they had adverts on them too so I could be brainwashed at the same time as a bad parent.

Toothache · 24/08/2005 10:41

I never get a chance to smell the nappy..... it usually smells predominantly of pee and shit, which I do try to avoid sniffing.... so don't give a damn what they smell like.... as long as they are wrapped in nice polythene nappy sacks then we're ok to pop straight in the wheelie bin.

oliveoil · 24/08/2005 10:41

I just sling mine into the road to decompose

chipmonkey · 24/08/2005 11:17

Caligula, I find Minkies better than Fuzzis for not leaking but much bulkier, even slinky minkies which I don't find all that slinky thought they are cute! I've also found Tots Bots with a booster and a popolini wrap good at night but not 100% effective. Oliveoil, why such an OTT reaction? Discodolly was only recounting her own experience of disposables, not branding anyone a bad parent.

tarantula · 24/08/2005 11:20

I hate disposables too. Too damn expensive thats why and they give dd nappy rash. Cant say Ive noticed the smell of disposibles tho.

tarantula · 24/08/2005 11:21

I find some microfibre cloths (60p each from Superdrug) work wonders for soaking up wee esp at night.

Toothache · 24/08/2005 11:25

OO - Do yours decompose?????

Chipmonkey - Think the thread title says it all really...... It doesn't say "This particular disposable nappy I used is shite".

It says "Disposable nappies are the Devils work".... so what about the parents that use them and love them

In light of the breast v bottle thing going on..... a washable v disposable thread was Jeeee-ust what we needed eh????!

and a bit

nailpolish · 24/08/2005 11:27

disposables are not the devils work

what a ridiculous thread title

Caligula · 24/08/2005 11:28

It was a bit inflammatory.

But I still want a cheap solution. Microfibre clothes, hmm? Sounds like a good option. Do you actually put them in the nappy? And if so, how many?

Caligula · 24/08/2005 11:28

I thought it was going to be a joke at first

oh for goodness sake. i think some poeple here are overreacting a bit!

so some of us hate disposables... why do you have a problem with that?

starlover · 24/08/2005 11:29

no-one has had a go at anyone! discodolly just said she doesn't like disposables because of the experience she just had with them..... SO WHAT?

Caligula · 24/08/2005 11:30

Was a bit tongue in cheek?

I hate the smell of disposables as well. But I hate the smell of washables too. I just wish they'd stop wetting the bloody bed!

Lizzylou · 24/08/2005 11:30

Starlover, I think it's cos of all the Milupa/Aptamil threads going on....
