Disposables are the devils work!

Just had to announce this!! Just come back from hols and put DD in disposables as I couldn't be bothered washing cottons while away and my god they really are sh*te!!! They stink of chemicals, I had gel stuff oozing out of them, she got nappy rash and ended up doing loads of washing from the explosive poos which ended up all over her clothes. Couldn't wait to get home and put her in her lovely, fluffy, big bummed Tots. Aaar rant over!!

I thought it was going to be a funny post about how easy disposables are to use.

Obviously not!!!

Does everyone want to row on here today

I wonder what else is going to make people argue today???

2 or 3 along with 1 terry nappy, or just on their own?

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

if i started a thread called
"peaches are the devils work" because i ate one and it made me really ill would you all go off on one about how some people LIKE peaches and i shouldn't say that i don't?

Toothache · 24/08/2005 11:31

Starlover - Don't start!

Saying they are something Satanic is slightly more than just saying you don't like them!!!

FWIW I bought washables to use with dd. Bought them from a MN'er in fact...... by 12wks my Dd's thighs were too fat for them! Gave her a right complex.... so to avoid her developing an eating disorder due to the paranoia about her weight.... I switched to disposables.

dyzzidi · 24/08/2005 11:32

FWIW I think this thread would be treated differently if the rowing over the aptimil advert wasn't going on

Sorry I am sure you didn't intend it to be read the way i read it

starlover · 24/08/2005 11:33

but it's just a turn of phrase... i am pretty sure that discodolly wasn't actually criticising anyone's parenting choices!
i would feel the same if i put ds in disposables and had to put up with oozing gel, nappy rash, exploding poo etc etc!

WigWamBam · 24/08/2005 11:33

I don't care who uses what for their nappies. You can use old newspapers if you like, as long as they're comfortable for the baby and you're happpy with them.

Discodolly didn't say anything in the post that was offensive, but calling disposables "the devil's work" in the thread title was bound to get people's backs up a bit.

tarantula · 24/08/2005 11:33

I just put the one in Caligula folded in three but if needs be you can put in more. I use MEOS and only need to use the microfibre cloths at night as a booser. they are great cos they absorb loads of liquid but also dry really quickly so you dont need loads

starlover · 24/08/2005 11:34

you're all bloody off your trolleys

Toothache · 24/08/2005 11:34

So.... don't any of you want to buy my house?

Don't you love it when there are two conversations going on at once on a thread?

wordsmith · 24/08/2005 11:35

Crikey Discodolly what sort of disposables did you use? And didn't you think of changing it a bit earlier?

Do you know I really wish they'd invent a baby that didn't poo or wee, or, uggghhhh, smell. They're so environmentally unfriendly. What i'm going to do in future is just suspend my toddler over the veg patch up the garden so I don't need to use nappies at all and can provide organic fertiliser for my carrots at the same time.

Hope this doesn't offend anyone or promote a non-PC commercial product, btw.

dyzzidi · 24/08/2005 11:35

PMSL Tarantula I read you spelling mistake as Boozer and thought not wonder it's leaking if he has been at the booze all night I can't stop peeing either after a skinful

I really should give up today my brain does not want to work properly.

chipmonkey · 24/08/2005 11:35

Never noticed the smell of disposables when using them for ds1 and ds2 but changed to cloth on ds3 and I have found that when I use disposables, they really stink compared to cloth, I had just assumed it was the wee itelf. God, this is a lovely conversation!.
Toothache, I agree that the thread title sounds inflammatory but when you actually read the subject line I don't think it warranted such a reply.

WigWamBam · 24/08/2005 11:35

Nice, balanced post there, starlover

starlover · 24/08/2005 11:36

i thought so WWB

starlover · 24/08/2005 11:36

seriously though... you all are! lol

spidermama · 24/08/2005 11:37

Hear Hear! Starlover.
There are some very rude comments on here which are totally uncalled for. Discodolly is obviously using poetic license in her title. (Unless you really think she believes in a dark force who normally resides in Hell manufacturing nappies ).

Let's not be rude to each other. If you don't like the sentiments in a thread, don't get involved. No-one's attacking you.

starlover · 24/08/2005 11:37

everyone i tell you EVERYOOOONNNNEEEEEEEEE
except me. i am perfectly sane

chipmonkey · 24/08/2005 11:37

I must be really slow today! Loads of people posted while I was composing my post!

nailpolish · 24/08/2005 11:38

starlover - i was offended cos discodolly sounded so smug

i use disposables, my children have never had nappy rash

i have a feeling its a bit tongue in cheek tho'

spidermama · 24/08/2005 11:38

Re-reading thread ...... Ooooooooh! So many people obviously very defensive about using disposables.

So you should be you filthy beasts.

Ha ha ha ha ha.
