Hi my ds is 13m and i find it so hard buying nice things for him. Of course he has got a few bits from mothercare, next, marks and spencers and asda but occasionally i would like him to wear something different. These places never seem to offer anything different, they offer babies acting as old men in shirts and ripped jeans.
There are a few children shops near me and i just can't resist it. For ds first birthday he wore an adorable miniman outfit that was expensive but he looked beautiful.
What do you all think about designer baby clothes?

I think people get het up as it's a status of parents wealth, lourding it over Average Joe.

Ask yourself where parents buy their seasons hotest trends from?

lima · 16/05/2005 13:06

well Enid, I wouldn't let ds1 wear his Tesco one whilst grocery shopping or they might think he was a sales assistant

Trampy · 16/05/2005 13:06

I personally love Tesco clothes.

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 13:06

PMSL!

Although i admit to dressing dd in cheap naff stuff, this thread is making me chuckle!!!

Enid · 16/05/2005 13:06

well we could weave the TESCO logo in and out of a skull and crossbones

or maybe make it look all vintage and beachy for a girl?

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 13:07

and it isnt tescos - its CHEROKEE! and asda is GEORGE! lol!!!!!

ediemcreedie · 16/05/2005 13:07

Trampy those £3 jeans you have on are so lovely.

Trampy · 16/05/2005 13:08

True.

Enid · 16/05/2005 13:08

so Tescos and asda ARE designer then

Trampy · 16/05/2005 13:08

I got them from a charity shop

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:08

I buy my clothes from Primark, charity shops, asda, tesco, and car boots, I really can't afford designer stuff, and even if i did, I wouldn't buy them becuase I have seen what my kids do to their clothes, especially Ds who chews his sleeves and collars (has destroyed his schol jumper I brought in january!!)

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 13:08

well of course!!!! LOL - for my budget anyway!

ediemcreedie · 16/05/2005 13:09

Remember Victoria beckham dresses her kids in designer

shudder.

Trampy · 16/05/2005 13:09

Quite honestly though it is pretentious cr@p, this designer stuff.

Enid · 16/05/2005 13:10

personally I wish they made all kids clothes out of the stuff they make school uniforms out of - those babies last FOR EVER

lima · 16/05/2005 13:10

Isn't Naomi Campbell advertising Tesco clothes?

noddyholder · 16/05/2005 13:11

I buy most of ds's clothes from car boot sales apartfrom shoes. They are often top brands in mint condition and sometimes i can't believe the parents are getting rid of them He still manages to look like steptoe in them though

ediemcreedie · 16/05/2005 13:11

think you look quite nice here

nikcola · 16/05/2005 13:12

my mum bough dd a dior (cd) bottle cause broklyn had one

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 13:12

PMSL!

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:13

Enid, school uniforms don't last with my son

Enid · 16/05/2005 13:14

dd's pinafore has lasted since Sept (she has finally grown out of it) and I love her summer dresses, wash, tumble dry and wear and they never shrink. She has 2 sweatshirts and one of them has a teeny hole on the cuff but apart from that they look the same as when I bought them

lima · 16/05/2005 13:15

Naomi and Tesco

Enid · 16/05/2005 13:15

poor them

i have worked with her - what a complete 'mare she is

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:16

the school dresses last for Dd1, have picked up a few second hand and they look as good as the one I brought frm Tesco, but DS eats his jumpers...
