Does anyone else by their children designer clothes apart from me?

Hi my ds is 13m and i find it so hard buying nice things for him. Of course he has got a few bits from mothercare, next, marks and spencers and asda but occasionally i would like him to wear something different. These places never seem to offer anything different, they offer babies acting as old men in shirts and ripped jeans.
There are a few children shops near me and i just can't resist it. For ds first birthday he wore an adorable miniman outfit that was expensive but he looked beautiful.
What do you all think about designer baby clothes?

Know what you mean SM Dss was a deamon for eating his uniform sleeves. I used to have to sew them up about once a month jsut so hed get a TERM out of them as neither us not his Mum could afford to keep buying them. Dya think its some kind of trend among the kids or something?

In defence of 'designer' clothes we have found that tops and coats last far longer than the supermarker gear.. plus they can be bought for the very low prices in sales.
Ebay is an excellent place to buy Oilily cloths at a fraction of the shop prices.
Jeans shoulds always be judged on price!

cupcakes · 16/05/2005 13:17

what is wilkinsons?

hunkermunker · 16/05/2005 13:17

I judge jeans on comfort...

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:18

its annoying..... I brought a new one in January for him when I brought DD1's schooluniform and within a week he'd eaten the sleeves and it looks terrible.....

Trampy · 16/05/2005 13:19

Har har har.

Be careful I would.

tarantula · 16/05/2005 13:21

Obviously it must taste better than the school dinners Think we should get JO onto this

noddyholder · 16/05/2005 13:21

my ds chews the sleeves aswell and the strings on the hood of his mac What is it with boys?

Hermione1 · 16/05/2005 13:25

My 5 yr old ds keeps blinking biting and chewing his school jumpers sleeves, GRRRRRRRR

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:25

I thought it was just my DS, none of the other boys seem to do it in his class, he also chews the collars of his T-shirts and jumpers, keep tellimng him not too.
DD1 loves to look pretty and doesn't eat her clothes, and DD2 is so fanantic (sp??) about how she looks, she get changed about 4-5 times a day, usually because a spot of water has dropped on her when she has washed her hands, or they are dirty from lunch/dinner time...... she can't stand dirty clothes...

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:39

Killed another thread..... boo hoo.....

tarantula · 16/05/2005 13:40

lol think we should start a new club The Anti Uniform Eating Mums Club to try and find ways to combat thsi problem.

Hermione1 · 16/05/2005 13:41

here here!!

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:42

start a thread...gon on, dare ya!!

tarantula · 16/05/2005 13:49

We Have solved the problem tho. Dss is now in secondary school so wear blazers and shirt which just dont have the same chewability.

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:52

ooooo only another 4 years of chewed jumpers then

tarantula · 16/05/2005 13:55

youll just have to move your ds to a school that has an old fashioned uniform with shirt and blazer an short trousers and cap Im sure hed look real cute and no more jumper eating.

sparklymieow · 16/05/2005 13:55

hehe

juicychops · 16/05/2005 14:01

I never buy designer clothes. Not for me or ds or dp. I once bought a pair of trousers from Ted Baker that i wanted for about a year. I wore them about 5 times and they went all shiney when i ironed them which ruined them. Never bought anything designer ever again. Would rather spend the money on other things

loulabelle222 · 16/05/2005 14:15

i didn't mean it like that at all. i don't dress my ds is designer every day just once in a while. i didn't say next was toot but thats all i can find when i look in the sale u might find different but if u do let me know where coz i never do! i am not bragging and i don't give a shit if my ds gets dirty he ws in the garden all day yesterday and was in the bath for ages while i scrubbed him down. he had fun. i just enjoy shopping . cor didn't expect this response. I dont think your old because your 30 .

and by the way my ds does have jogging bottoms and things like that to go about in and stuff from asda . I love asda i don't think tesco is particularly good for boys clothes, i like the girls stuff but never find anything i like in tescos apart from the odd bits and peices.
i don't know where u have got it from that all i dress my ds in is designer. Only some of the time.
I tell you what else i hate... babies in shoes that can't walk. what is the point?
