Morning wenches.

Wind and rain again. Awake early and gave up on getting back to sleep so flapjacks are made, ironing’s done and there’s a wash on. All the thrilling stuff. Usual Sunday I think.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/04/2026 09:23

Morning all. Bright and sunny here, with wind. So the washing that's nearly done should dry fast, or end up in next door's garden. Or both.

Today we have a visit planned to see the kittens while DH & DS continue to try and convince me that it won't make IdiotKitty the most unhappy cat in the world. Plus hopefully a drop in to a friend on the way home. Also, I must plant some seeds. We're massively behind with that this year. DS will continue in his marathon homework effort.
<continues to slump on sofa>
<pinches one of LetUs's flapjacks>

ApricotCrush · 12/04/2026 16:27

Afternoon. Sun, wind and showers again.

DH has been mowing the lawns and he has some fancy spiked strappy things that he wears over his shoes so that he can aerate the lawn as he mows it. He looks hilarious, goodness knows what the neighbours thought. I had to video him and send it to the DC. Grin

Yay for kitten visit. IdiotKitty is used to having another cat around, so hopefully he’ll get used to them.

<also pinches flapjack>

Can't believe this weekend is almost over.

Up early yesterday for an appointment to the hairdresser. I need to look somewhat decent so I'm not stopped at the UK border on Friday Grin Then to the supermarket and then to anoter shop to collect a parcel. Then some tidying and vacuuming.

Up early today again to pick up another parcel and then working for a couple of hours. Then getting things ready for the trip, downloading tickets (and printing them just in case) etc.

Squee for kittens!

Oh no! Do you have to go back to the yarn shop Letus? That's awful! Grin

Looking forward to meet up Fancy Smile 🍰☕🍪

That sounds very complicated Apes.

LetUsPrey · 12/04/2026 18:33

Evening wenches.

Had to park a bit away from parents’ house this morning due to an unexpected road closure. Started to rain as soon as we got out of the car, and then a few steps later it was hailing! Quite nice now.

DS1 sends lots of photos and videos of the grandkits so I’m getting my fix there and when we visit. Hope your kitten visit went well Helen.

I might tell DH about the lawn aerating shoes Apricot in the hope he gets some too 😁

Blimey Wicked that’s a lot of activity! I might even have to order the yarn online as soon as they get it back in stock AND visit the yarn shop. Wenches love a thorough approach 😁 <admires haircut>

Wait … why are there fewer flapjacks?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/04/2026 22:40

Evening wenches. I am knackered. Kitten visit was lovely (I had one bury itself into my arm and then sleep on me for agent), and then saw a friend on the way home as well, but I've ended up with a nagging headache most of the afternoon and now I'm just tiiiiired.
Belated sympathies for Apricot on the DVLA hassle, and FFS for LetUs's unexpected road closure. Shock at Wicked's massively productive (exhausting) day!
I did all the paperwork collation for the travel insurance claim, and now DH is putting a claim in for the extra hotel cost and drugs, and asking me how to fill in the form on his laptop that I can't see... <breathes through gritted teeth>
Did I mention tiiiired?
<whinge>
Why is it Monday tomorrow?
<whinge>

FancyFancy · 12/04/2026 23:14

Evening, going to start on the last episode of The Capture in a minute.

Am somewhat jealous of the kitten visit helen, although I suspect Chonk & Floof would be even less keen on kitten additions than IdiotKitty, so I am resigned to no more kitties.

I am loving MrA's garden efficiency, maybe I should look into getting those shoes?

No hail here letus, but there were heavy showers and one almighty clap of thunder. True April weather - you may need to pack for every season ww Grin

LetUsPrey · 13/04/2026 06:14

Morning wenches.

So many squeees at kitten snuggling up Helen. Your insurance paperwork must have been a lot easier to fill in, more simply worded forms and not as much information to provide 🤨 Hope the headache shifted.

Bit jealous of your thunder Fancy even if it was just once. Ours had disappeared from the forecast.

Monday again but not raining (yet) which is a bonus I suppose.

Good luck with Fräsan today Wicked.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/04/2026 07:45

Morning all. Woke up with headache still, took different drugs (the more expensive ones, of course), and it's buggered off, so phew.

Forgot to say - we have those soil aerating spike things - ours strap onto your shoes while you stomp about the place. I think DH has worn them once? One of those 'good ideas' that never got used more than once or twice. Besides, with the amount of molehills that have appeared in the past few days, I think our garden is quite majorly aerated Hmm .

We also had a single thunder-clap yesterday, accompanying pea-sized hail. DS is back to college today, and I've managed to buy and transfer a week's ticket for him. He has also found a travel office for the company, so I will be visiting in person and stropping at them on my lunch break later this week.

How was The Capture Fancy? did it make sense? I have seen a few clips on FB but nothing else.

In other news, sunshine and clouds. No idea what the forecast is.

Have a good day all, and fingers crossed for Frasen's appointment flagging up a very boring benign cyst. or something similar.

ApricotCrush · 13/04/2026 17:21

Afternoon. Nice day, washing basket has been cleared. I did a Lidl shop this morning, it’s more expensive every time a I go.

Yes Helen the spikes strap onto ordinary shoes. DH liked them although he looked ridiculous but he thinks they’re a bit dangerous as you could go over on them if you hit something like a tree root or a stone, so care is needed. He won’t use them every time, just occasionally as our lawn doesn’t absorb rain after a dry spell, it just runs off.

Gosh WW you have been busy. Hope Fräsan’s appointment went well.

We’re on season 2 of The Capture. No idea who’s a goodie and who’s a baddie. Hmm

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 13/04/2026 18:37

With that kind of weather I will feel right at home Fancy Grin

We spent a long time at the vet, had to wait for the ultrasound. They have taken tissue biopsies and we will know in about a week. Fräsan is very tired, poor thing ❤

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/04/2026 20:55

Evening all. Quite a busy day, work-wise. And mostly nice sunny weather.

The majority of the local wildlife was out frolicking when I was on my bike this evening - two hares saw me and raced for cover, one shuffled over to a clump of vegetation - "Don't mind me, I'm thistle." Another one hunkered down and stayed still - "I'm just a molehill, nothing to see here". On the way home again, one bombed across the road in front of me and off in the the distance, its friend tried to do the same but had a last minute bout of caution and spun back into the field to do the 'I'm just a molehill trick' until I was past. Another hopped into the road ahead of me, considered its options, and hopped back into the field to hide. I do like hares, they make me laugh. There was also an irritated deer at the side of the road as I biked towards it. It was very unimpressed with having to run off into the woods to avoid me as I passed. Plus a pair of pheasants busy fighting until they saw me and then shuffled off looking wary, but also wanting to carry on fighting, so they didn't go far.

All good fun.

LetUsPrey · 13/04/2026 20:57

Evening wenches.

I shall be behind you in spirit Helen at the travel company office, ready to glare if they don’t dealt with things quickly. Good that the headache went.

Oooo at cleared washing basket Apricot! Such a satisfying feeling. I think it stayed dry all day here except for a few of those big splat raindrops on the windscreen on the way home.

Many gentle squidges for Fräsan and a big cwtch for you Wicked.

We’ve got the football on. It’s not going well. At all.

LetUsPrey · 14/04/2026 06:12

Morning wenches.

Loving The Tale of SisterHelen and the Hares 😁

Tuesday is it? Notoriously crap Tuesdays so the bar for today is low.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/04/2026 07:46

Morning all. Bright and sunny outside (but chilly). I planted a load of seeds last night, finally. But still got sunflowers to sow. And the veg patch has barley ben touched, so that needs work before the potatoes can be planted. #BrainDump

DS was up v late last night I think, finishgin the homework that he promised he'd do on holiday and didn't Hmm I have limited sympathy there.

Also, work. <le sigh>

Have a good day all
<Paddington bear stare at Tuesday - behave!>

ApricotCrush · 14/04/2026 14:05

Afternoon. Bit of a meh day here, cloudy and windy. I’ve been to post a parcel and a walk round the road. Nothing of interest going on. DH is under his car, something to do with the exhaust falling off. Shock

What a lovely bike ride Helen, the best I can offer is robins, squirrels and magpies.

Hope Tuesday has been kind to you LetUs.

Fingers crossed for Fräsan’s results WW.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/04/2026 21:14

Evening all. Took DH with me for my walk today and counted hares again, though they weren't putting on their comedy show as much.

Oh, comedy though - DH has a beard trimmer with various attachments, one of which is an eyebrow trimmer. I had no idea such things existed, but apparently DH has been using that occasionally (to stop his eyebrows growing like Denis Healey). Today he used the wrong attachment and pretty much shaved one off. He came to tell me, very mournful, and I ended up crying with laughter - it's something your friends are meant to do to you when you're drunk - not do to yourself! Fortunately he's so blond that you can't really tell, but I haven't laughed so much for ages. We just told DS and have all collapsed laughing again. Poor DH Grin

Eek! at exhausts falling off Apricot - hope it's all ok!

LetUsPrey · 15/04/2026 06:44

Morning wenches.

Oh dear, oh poor MrHelen, what an unfortunate incident. Can’t think why you and MiniHelen were laughing 😁

😮 at the exhaust coming off! Hope MrApricot has fixed it (I have no doubt).

Yesterday was 🤷🏻‍♀️ and actually not bad by usual Tuesday standards. Perhaps the week is tricking me and the usual crap is lying in ambush somewhere <checks behind bar>

Short work day today hurrah!

Thanks for the new thread Helen.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/04/2026 07:29

Morning all. Cloudy start, but apparently a rather impressive sunrise (According to local Facebook groups). Pleased to say I slept through that, in favour of a bonkers dream where I left my current BoringOfficeJob, and had a leaving lunch with some current colleagues, but then Fancy and Drink were in the car park to get a lift in my car. But I couldn't leave until I'd gone back to the actual office to clear my desk, where I had a presentation from a job I left 15 years ago. This weirdness was rounded off by me walking down the stairs in the office wondering where my shoes had gone, because I was just in socks - baffling. Never did get back to the car, I woke up instead. so Fancy and Drink are now trapped in a dream version of my work car park. Sorry guys!

Have a good day all/ I'm out this evening to meet a friend after work, though she won't finish until 6:30pm Shock Not sure what I'll do with myself to fill in the time. Oh well...

ApricotCrush · 15/04/2026 15:10

Afternoon. Cloudy this morning, it’s raining now. DH did a temporary repair on the exhaust to get him to the golf club, and he’s now under the car again doing a permanent one courtesy of a delivery from Amazon.

Oh dear, poor MrHelen. They’ll soon grow back. Have a nice evening with your friend. And thanks for the new thread.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

Evening wenches.

Were there any bookshops nearby Helen? Hope you’re having a lovely evening. There’s a book idea there - people getting stuck in another person’s dreams.

Well done MrApricot on a) getting to the golf club (hurrah 😁) and b) on the permanent fix.

Had a bath after work. Didn’t bother putting on the bathroom light because it was plenty light enough. Regretted that when it went darker by the second, then the thunder started. Was too dark to read properly. Had a bit of lightning too!

FancyFancy · 15/04/2026 21:03

<waves frantically from helen's dream>

Blimey letus that was not quite the relaxing bath you were expecting!

MrA is very resourceful - I'm sure the lure of the golf club was quite the incentive for the temporary fix Grin

The Capture was very diverting, if rather bonkers at times. Slightly disappointed at who got bumped off as they were good characters, but I guess you can't have a series about that sort of topic with no jeopardy. You do have to concentrate though - no scrolling on the phone while watching. Have moved onto The Other Bennet Sister now......

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/04/2026 23:05

Evening all.
Hollow laughter at me wondering what to do between work and meeting my friend. I worked until I left to meet her. <le sigh> We had a nice meet up though, once I'd persuaded the stupid touch-screen parking machine to work. Technology is so bloody stressful. On good news though, the bus company fixed stuff - transferred ticket to DS and refunded the duplicate tickets I had to buy. Phew.

Also good news re the car exhaust Apricot - well done MrA. He's wonderfully practical (if accident prone!)

The Other Bennet Sister will be much less stressful Fancy - there's a distinct lack of unexpected deaths going on in Austenland. Grin

Shame about the bath LetUs - but at least you had a thunderstorm to enjoy?

LetUsPrey · 16/04/2026 06:13

Morning wenches.

Hip pain, rubbish sleep. Could do the exercises to help the former which may help the latter so only myself to blame.

Excellent news re getting the bus ticket sorted Helen.

Bath accompanied by thunderstorm was quite nice, it was my own silly fault for not putting the light on 😁

Have lovely days wenches.
