Evening wenches.

Work was quiet for a change today. Won’t last obviously.

Wash dried nicely and I plan to do the same tomorrow morning. Honestly, it’s a highlight of the week.

There’s always next season Apricot. Bounce back up.

Goodness at MrHelen! DH is watching The Night Manager. I’m half watching whilst finishing a small blanket.

FancyFancy · 17/03/2026 23:07

Back from DDad's - took him to a funeral today. All went well considering. Was treated to lunch on Mother's Day by the DC which was very pleasant. Back to work tomorrow <sighs>

Very glad to hear Little Chicken is ok Helen and I chuckled at the idea of MrHelen channelling Dr Darcy 😁

With you on the washing joy letus and apricot, I dried towels on the line over the weekend - it nearly made me feel summery!

Yikes to the tenant drama ww that sounds properly scary

LetUsPrey · 18/03/2026 06:50

Morning wenches.

<squidge> Fancy. Hurrah for being treated to lunch, as is right and proper.

Washing already outside. We’re supposed to get up to 19° today. 19! Madness.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/03/2026 07:32

Morning all, it's bright and sunny - hurrah! No time to do a wash today though.

IdiotKitty says I'm starving him and isn't pleased. And he isn't eating that muck. Since I'm out at BoringOfficeJob I figure that DH can deal with any hangry behaviour later Grin

Hurrah for being taken out to lunch Fancy, and sympathies re. the funeral Sad
HAve a good day all

ApricotCrush · 18/03/2026 17:15

Afternoon. Glorious day, 17°. I got the sun bed out and spent a couple of hours in the garden. Another wash load dried. Amazing how different you feel with a bit of sun.

I know LetUs. The trouble is the best half of the squad will be gone in the summer. They’re playing well at the moment because they’re trying to increase their value. It’s all about the money, and I suppose you can’t blame them, but we’ll have to rebuild and I don’t think you can do that in a season. Sad

Lovely to go out with the DC Fancy.

Poor starving IdiotKitty. Hmm

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 18/03/2026 20:10

Evening wenches.

Thought the same thing re sunshine improving mood Apricot. That’s true re rebuilding I suppose. You’ll be back though.

I think the washing dried but DS2 was being helpful and brought it in whilst I was still at work. He thinks it was mostly dry.

The things you put that poor cat through Helen. Poor deprived IdiotKitty.

I’m trying to follow a new crochet pattern and watch something that’s in French with English subtitles. Not a great idea.

FancyFancy · 18/03/2026 21:22

Evening
Funeral wasn't someone I knew, so feel a bit of a fraud getting sympathies. I even snivel at funerals on tv, probably look a right prat!

Am quite envious of you sitting in the sun apricot, there's something so lovely about the first few times in spring when the sun really warms you up.

We have some roadworks down here now letus, very nice of you to share Grin
Did IdiotKitty manage to melt MrHelen's heart?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/03/2026 21:49

Evening all, IdiotKitty spent the day asleep on our bed and didn't demand food until I came home, so I fed him Muck with a sprinkling of biscuits. He's snuggled up on me just now drying his feet on my dressing gown (having been outside and eaten the wildlife) and being furry-purry. And gone.

Work was the usual, traffic was utter carnage this morning - I diverted to avoid a 40-minute queue, and ended up gridlocked in 'other traffic avoiding the traffic', and 45 minutes late to work. v. tedious.

Fingers crossed for good weather tomorrow so I can do lots of washing, in between everything else.

Shock at trying to follow a crochet pattern and subtitles at the same time LetUs

LetUsPrey · 19/03/2026 06:13

Morning wenches.

I like to be generous Fancy,, seems I even sprinkled some traffic chaos in Helen’s direction too!

Awwwwww at furry-purry 😊

Waiting for the wash to finish and calculating whether there’s time for another, but factoring in having a shower, so will I be able to leave on time to take parents to a GP appointment on my way to work. Jeopardy!

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/03/2026 07:46

Morning all. Lovely and sunny this morning - a wash is in the machine and the frost is melting outside. There is also some coughing and general snufflyness in the house, so my day is actually a bit less busy (not meeting up with a friend, who understandably wants none of this 'I've got a cold' nonsense).

Have a good day all - may the traffic gods smile on you!

ApricotCrush · 19/03/2026 17:07

Afternoon. Another lovely day, more washing done, I'm doing rugs and throws now. We had lunch outside which was nice, but it's still cold in the shade.

I'm the same with funerals on tv Fancy, and weddings.

What on earth are you doing to yourself LetUs, what with subtitles and crochet, and two washes, shower and taking parents to the GP? I'm exhausted just reading it. Grin

Hope the coughs and snuffles don't come to much Helen.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 19/03/2026 20:40

Evening wenches.

That does not sound fun at all Helen. Hopefully it’s just a bit of a snuffle and doesn’t become a cold.

I’ve decided that subtitles and crochet is not a good idea 😁. One wash had been set the night before and I managed to squeeze the next one in <nae>. All GP appointments went well. Traffic was crap but you can’t have everything can you?

I think the sunshine is dwindling after today, although I think it’s staying dry.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/03/2026 21:27

Evening all. I got two loads through the machine today as well - hurrah! Then poured dinner all over my jeans, so more washing is required. <eye roll>

We had lovely weather today, if a bit chilly again this evening. I had the bike out today and got to work out how unfit I feel. Hmm
The snuffles have not progressed (yet) so fingers crossed. DS is still coughing though.

Blimey LetUs - that sounds like a very busy day. <cbf> at the traffic though.

Funerals are never easy - I think grief is contagious. Even if I didn't know the person particularly well, I start to well up when everyone else is sad.

Friday tomorrow - hurrah (other than 'more year end traumas') Sad

LetUsPrey · 20/03/2026 06:49

Morning wenches.

Foggy and quite damp looking this morning.

At least you did some exercise Helen. I really must do something.

Friday hurrah!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/03/2026 07:33

Morning all. Similar weather here LetUs. At least it's not cold.

Woke up very unsettled this morning, for no apparent reason. I ca't remember what I dreamed, so I'm putting it down to that. I have realised that we're on holiday in a week, so I need to start prep, or it all suddenly need doing wit 24 hour to go.

<looks blank>
<wanders off>

ApricotCrush · 20/03/2026 17:02

Afternoon. Nice day after a foggy start, but there was a lot of high cloud, so no sitting in the garden.

That holiday came around quickly Helen. We’re going to the caravan at Easter so I suppose I should think about starting to gather stuff together. The first visit is always busy.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 20/03/2026 21:32

Evening wenches.

Traffic was ace today (by comparison). Work also happened.

Hope the unsettled feeling faded Helen.

Good luck with the holiday prep!

DS2 is being a bit of a pita so I might go to bed and leave him to it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/03/2026 08:53

Ah look - here's the post I typed out last night...

Evening all. The weather improved here too, but wasn't as warm as yesterday. There's a very thin crescent moon tonight.

DS is out being social, so I'm on taxi duty. I'm also tiiired, so that's not helpful.

Then MN refused to load and, meh. It's nice and sunny this morning, and the manshapes are out being sporty. There is a load in the machine and the duvet is airing on the line. Fascinating stuff Hmm

Taxi-ing last night was made more exciting by an unexpectedly closed road. Honestly, that counts as exciting. I don't know whether to despair or be relieved Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/03/2026 09:02

bloody hell, how did I do that?! 😂

LetUsPrey · 21/03/2026 09:11

Morning wenches.

And here’s Helen with the headlines for the day 😁

Road closures - we take our excitement where we can

Washing load two is almost done. Cake is in the oven. Not helped though by discovering the self raising flour had gone mouldy 🤢 so quick trip out to buy some after having had to blast my hair dry. Must remember to collect prescription and find out what’s happened to my pre-ordered jigsaw.

I’ll be doing not much for the rest of the day I think.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/03/2026 12:10

Shock at mouldy flour - we get weevils sometimes, so now I tend to keep unopened bags of flour in the freezer until they can go in the airtight/weevil-proof container. I've had to water some of the pots outside - more Shock

ApricotCrush · 21/03/2026 16:24

Afternoon. Nice day but cloudy again. We had a terrible night’s sleep. Not unusual for me, but DH couldn’t get comfortable with his shoulder. He’s been doing a job at DD’s with their garage floor which involved a lump hammer he did explain to me but I switched off and he’s aggravated it. Then when I did get to sleep I had a stress dream about having to be at the dentist fifteen minutes ago and I wasn’t dressed. Shock

Grin at Helen’s headline. Good idea putting the flour in the freezer. I use it so infrequently that I feel I should buy new every time.

Have a lovely evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/03/2026 20:32

Evening wenches.

Good tip re the flour. The plain flour gets used regularly so that’ll be fine, but the self raising can go in the freezer.

Oh Apricot, poor you and MrApricot. Can’t imagine using a lump hammer is going to do anyone’s shoulder much good. Hope you both get a better night’s sleep.

Cake has turned out okay but I’m undecided whether I’ll make it next weekend. Prescription wasn’t ready even though I was sure surgery had said they’d sent it through last week. I did get my jigsaw though so I’ve started that. Sat out in the sunshine this afternoon. It was lovely.

FancyFancy · 21/03/2026 21:34

Evening, am playing catch up with the indoor athletics this evening, sound on iPlayer is a bit dodgy which is outrageous, how dare it interfere with my enjoyment of listening to Colin Jackson <harrumphs>

It was lovely and sunny here today, spent the afternoon sorting the compost out and adding it to the beds which the robin approved of as it clearly unearthed some worms.

Fingers crossed for a better night for you both apricot

Thank you for the reminder about the pots Helen, weather has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime!

Blimey letus you pack in a lot before work 😲

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/03/2026 08:57

Oh look - another post I forgot last night...

Evening all.

Urgh Apricot - stress dreams are so shit. Why am I not surprised that MrA had been hurting himself with DIY?!

We've had nice weather here today - lots of sun, though not the warmest unless I was beetling about being busy. I've been mowing Shock using the rather haphazard method of 'Where do I usually walk to/from? Right, I'll mow that path in.'

What I haven't done though, is remake the beds after today's laundry fest. Bugger.

(Hopefully no shouty accidental headlines this morning!)

This morning we have high cloud and watery sunshine. Also next door's chickens are visiting Hmm
