Morning wenches.

I’m finding I’m much better in the morning and get as much done as possible because then I just run out of steam, even if I’ve not had a busy start, by the afternoon.

That’s a lot of hard work in the garden Fancy. It’s going to look wonderful.

Usual start to the day. I think this is our last nice day for a while.

Have super days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 22/03/2026 17:30

Afternoon. Dull here but pleasant enough. Sleep was a bit better but I'm always awake for a couple of hours in the middle. DS came round this afternoon with his children. Always nice to see them.

Why do chemists take so long to make up prescripions? Confused Ours tells us to order a week in advance and it's often not ready when we go in and we have to wait.

I'm very impressed with all the gardening going on. Ours would be a jungle if it was left to me.

Have a good evening all.

Evening all. I have no idea what I've been doing today Confused I went back to bed again after feeding animals, and fell asleep which was nice, but I woke up with a 'sleep hangover' and felt a bit rubbish and headachey. Ah - I started getting stuff together for holidays, and tidied a room. That's what I did Grin. Plus some gardening (die, foul ground elder! etc).

Just finished watching the athletics - whoop for the girls! DS is now serenading us on his guitar - he's meant to be doing homework. "Hmph" he says, and carries on playing along to Queens of the Stone Age <sigh>

LetUsPrey · 22/03/2026 20:30

Evening wenches.

Same here with the gardening Apricot.

Hope the headache was soon seen off Helen. <passes the gardening flamethrower> At least MiniHelen’s doing something creative I suppose? Obviously better to do the studying first <also side eyes at DS2>

Very much usual Sunday with added jigsaw and athletics.

LetUsPrey · 23/03/2026 06:04

Morning wenches.

Oh look, it’s Monday again. Let’s see what this week’s going to bring.

Have been awake for quite a while so I had 10 minutes with the jigsaw 😊

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/03/2026 07:47

Morning all. That's a good use of waking up early LetUs Grin Though FFS to waking up too early. Also FFS to my attempts to get to sleep and FFS at DH coming to bed late, being chatty and the giggling at the book he was reading. AAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!! I can understand why people have separate room sometimes.

This morning so far IdiotKitty has been out, and the come back through an open window like the hounds of hell were on his tail, then spent 5 minutes trying to kill my had while I was wearing TheGloveThatMustDie, and now stalked out again. We are also Chicken Down! - an IndistinguishableBrownChicken was sprawled out in the run this morning having recently dropped dead, which is a lot nicer to deal with than an ill one where you dither about waiting for it to die, or having to take matters into your own hands. Still, poor chicken, and I need to dig another hole. <le sigh>

Best crack on - have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 23/03/2026 17:04

Afternoon. Cloudy but not cold. I went into town this morning to stock up on stuff and get ahead with birthday cards. We only have two card shops left (and very little of anything else Sad) and I failed to get one I liked for DS. I hate the flowery verses, so on the way home I went to a local shop who usually have what I want. They were closed. Honestly it’s no wonder people buy stuff online.

I sometimes consider moving into another bedroom Helen but then it’s two beds to make and double washing. DH doesn’t do these things and I wouldn’t want him to.

Oh no, poor IndistinguishableBrownChicken but as you say, easy to deal with. Sad

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

FancyFancy · 23/03/2026 18:22

RIP chicken 😞

The women did us proud in the athletics,.what a fab evening!

Today the gardener has been, so the garden is looking good - he mowed the moss and tidied up various beds. The primroses are going even stronger so the bottom of the garden is beautifully pale yellow. I decided to fit in a visit the garden centre and have a few new plants that I've already planted. So many traffic lights and a road closure - think I nearly doubled the length of the route.

Tonight I will be carrying on with s2 of The Capture, can't remember much of it at all, so it was probably a good idea for me not to pitch straight into series 3!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/03/2026 21:19

Evening all.

Good point Apricot, re. the extra washing. Your garden sounds lovely Fancy, I think I need to separate out the primroses here a bit - they're all piled on top of each other and not spreading much. In other garden news, I plopped some over-wintered pots into a new bed, and this morning there was an empty hole Hmm I went out and found the deer poo, and found the plant abandoned a couple of feet away, so at least it wasn't eaten. I've replanted it now and hope it stays put this time, or I'll have to slap some chicken wire over the top while they root in. While I was out taxi-ing DS, DH says there were a couple of hares in the garden which is v. exciting - I see them running in the fields, but I haven't seen any in the garden before.

We've got a celebrity Bake Off on TV, which is quite fun.

LetUsPrey · 24/03/2026 06:12

Morning wenches.

<cbf> at MrHelen being annoying and interrupting sleep.

Your gardens sound so lovely, even with the unplanted and then replanted plant. Fucksake at additional journey time to get to the garden centre. This is unacceptable when you’re off to do something nice.

It’s so frustrating re the shops isn’t Apricot. We’ve a family run shop here, been open for about a billion years, who’ve had to make the decision to close. Rising rates etc.

Rather windy so far today and it’s forecast for lots of rain. At least it didn’t do this at the weekend.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2026 07:50

Morning all. It's all rather grey and dreary outside, and my neck feels all crunchy and on the verge of getting a crick. No idea what the weather forecast is. One of my freelance projects has finally started to arrive - 2 weeks late. <side-eyes and grumpy face>

Our local two high street is 80% charity shops and hairdressers. Though there is still a butchers and a hardware shop.

ApricotCrush · 24/03/2026 16:34

Afternoon. Cloudy and very windy today. I haven't done a great deal, but I have got out some knitting from last year that I'd abandoned and need to decide what to do with it.

We had a lovely hardware shop in the village up the road where you could get anything you needed but it shut last September because the owner doubled the rent. It's still empty which is a bit stupid on the part of the owner.

Hope the neck has recovered Helen. Lovely to have wildlife in your garden, even though they're destructive.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 24/03/2026 19:41

Evening wenches.

Good luck with the knitting Apricot. Is it another of your patterns are for wimps creations? I think I’m being daring if I change the border a bit on a blanket.

Hope your neck’s okay Helen.

Rain. So much rain. And the wind’s been howling away for a few hours now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2026 20:37

Evening all. My neck seems ok (phew). I don't think we have rain yet, but lots of wind. Work has been urgh. I feel like it's a bath and book night. But I need to finish up some work first. <sigh>

LetUsPrey · 25/03/2026 06:58

Morning wenches.

Wind, rain. It really doesn’t look very pleasant out there.

Good news re your neck Helen.

Dentist or hygienist after work. Oh goody.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2026 07:28

Morning all. The wind and rain seem to have blown through overnight, and at the moment we have high cloud and sunshine. And BoringOfficeJob.

Have a good one all - may the gods of traffic smile on you!

<sends out search party for Wicked>

ApricotCrush · 25/03/2026 16:29

Afternoon. Well we’ve had the lot today. We started with sunshine which rapidly deteriorated into showers of rain, hail, sleet and bitterly cold wind, with sun in between. I managed to do a food shop without getting wet.

Yes it is LetUs. Grin It’s a lightweight summer jumper and it wasn’t finished by September so I put it away. I still don’t know what to do with the yoke yet but I’ll just carry on and hope that inspiration arrives. Good luck at the dentist.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/03/2026 20:44

Evening wenches.

Sun, sleet, hail, snow (snow!), wind. Sometimes all at the same time.

Dentist went well, no problems.

Summer jumper sounds lovely Apricot. I’ve just finished the border on a crochet blanket. Need to decide what to make next.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2026 21:26

Evening all. We've had the same weather, though the wet weather took a bit longer to arrive. Cold wind as well though - we had a quick lunchtime walk for some fresh air and sunshine, then scuttled back in. IdiotKitty disapproves of the weather.

Work was a bit frantic, but I think I got everything done in the end. Except setting my 'out of office' so I'll be logging in again tomorrow to do that!

Phew for the dentist going well, and hopefully the jumper will be done in time for summer!

LetUsPrey · 26/03/2026 06:10

Morning wenches.

Are you off on your holiday today Helen? Have a smashing time if so.

It appears to not be raining or snowing or hailing so that’s something. No wind either so hurrah for that.

Let’s see what work brings today. I’m doubting it’s anything fun.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2026 07:26

Morning wenches - we have sun and rain and hail so far this morning. Though I think we're about to lose the sun.

We head off tomorrow evening LetUs, of a flight at stupid-early on Saturday. Et je will practise my Franglais on tout le monde as nous allons 'whoosh' dans le neige, et report on le search pour les HBFs.

DH started getting stuff together last night - "Oh, these need washing" Angry You will be pleased to know I exercised my self-restraint and didn't kill him. (I did my 'last call for holiday washing' yesterday morning). "It only needs a quick wash" he said, and left it in the laundry basket for the mythical laundry fairy to deal with. Angry DS hasn't even started. FFAS, etc. I know what I'm going to be doing today (whilst trying to work). I hope that Apricot's caravan prep is going better!

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 26/03/2026 16:36

Afternoon. A better day but still cold and windy.

Caravan prep is still in my head Helen although I have bought a fitted sheet which was needed for the second bedroom as DD & Co are joining us for the Easter weekend. DH does that with holiday washing, most annoying.

The summer jumper should be finished but I have seen a crochet cardigan which has taken my fancy <nto> and I’m sitting on my hands to stop me ordering the pattern (yes I will need one) and yarn. Hmm I haven’t done any crochet for years and will have to teach myself again.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 26/03/2026 19:20

Evening wenches.

Bonne vacances pour tu et your famille Helen. Quel domage pour le flight time tres stupide. I think DH would have found himself planted into the washing basket.

Ooo at new pattern and yarn Apricot! Don’t bother trying to resist. Dooooooo ittttttttt 😁. I’m trying a different blanket pattern by following a written pattern rather than watching a YouTube video.

Work and traffic can both do one.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2026 21:25

Evening. There has been some work and lots of packing and stress. DS is utterly clueless about what to pack because I've never asked him to pack his own stuff pour le vacance de ski. <le sigh> I think I'm just going to go through all his stuff tomorrow while he's at college to make sure he's got everything.

The weather improved as the day went on. DH's last minute washing went out on the line.

Love all the yarn chat Grin

LetUsPrey · 27/03/2026 06:40

Morning wenches.

I suppose MiniHelen has had a go at packing which is good. Still <cbf> at MrHelen re the last minute washing. Bonne chance avec le rest du packing.

It’s raining again but it’s Friday which helps a little.

Have lovely days wenches.
