Afternoon. Much warmer today but I don’t think it will last. DH’s car is now sorted, thank goodness.

I’ve found a free app, Google Photoscan, for the photos; I’ve got to have a play around with it to see what it does. It’s quicker than scanning with my printer because you can use it to crop and enhance but it’s still time-consuming when there are so many photos. Hmm

Bit of a shock when you get your days mixed up LetUs, I do it all the time.

Hope today wasn’t too stressful and you got done everything you wanted to Helen.

FancyFancy · 18/09/2025 18:39

Boo to getting days mixed up, still it really is Friday tomorrow, so that's good Grin

Will be interested in how you get on with that app apricot - I should probably do something similar

It's been warmer outside than in today, quite a pleasant surprise as I was working from home and managed to get some laundry done - the excitement!

Am still mostly watching the athletics......

LetUsPrey · 18/09/2025 21:33

Evening wenches.

Hope everything got done Helen and self-discipline was duly exercised.

Fingers crossed to that app doing what you want it to do Apricot.

Stayed warmer here too, although I think it rained at some point. I don’t remember.

Actual Friday tomorrow and then a week off!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/09/2025 22:42

Evening all. It was quite unpleasantly warm today from my perspective, because I was dressed for the clouds and gloom - not the warmth. I should have done laundry too, but forgot.

Got a decent amount of work done though - along with too much faffing and being distracted by the internet. <side-eyes at MN>

Hurrah for Friday and the weekend coming up!

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2025 06:55

Morning wenches.

Daaaaark urgh. Better get used to it I suppose.

But Friday hurrah! Just need to get through today and then no work for a week!

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/09/2025 09:08

Urgh. Morning all. Was up before the sun today to get DH out the door, which was, to be fair, less than an hour earlier than normal, but it felt much earlier. On the plus side, I got to spot the crescent moon hanging over a single star as I trundled out to wake the chickens up (much to their bemusement - "What? Food? Now?! OK...")

So by the time I sat down to work I'd already been in the car for two hours Shock
Have you got plans for your week off LetUs - or just 'not working'? Grin

ApricotCrush · 19/09/2025 17:03

Afternoon. It is getting horribly dark in the mornings and evenings. It was quite sunny this afternoon and we sat outside to do some sudokus. Clutching at the last remnants of summer. Sad

Grin at chickens’ surprise at being fed early.

Yay for week off LetUs.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 19/09/2025 22:04

Evening wenches.

Work was <covers ears of Helen’s chickens <nae>> mostly running about like a headless chicken. But now freedom! Plans include annual health check at the GP - ooooo, a big paperwork tidy, and getting all my various ongoing knitting and crochet projects organised because they’re all a bit half done.

Hurrah for being able to sit outside for a bit Apricot!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/09/2025 23:54

Evening. It was stupid hot today, and I have spent far too much of it in the car.

Work was annoying because I couldn't get today's spreadsheets to balance. Still - it gives me something to do next week Hmm

LetUsPrey · 20/09/2025 07:43

Morning wenches.

That’s a relief Helen, because I’m sure you would have been short of things to do otherwise.

We have rain with lots more on the way. Meeting BestFriend this morning, no definite plans for the rest of the day other than trying to get washing dry.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2025 14:05

Afternoon all. It was well misty this morning, but it's burnt off to sporadically nice. DH is home (watching F1 qualifying), and DS is being sporty all weekend doing a coaching course. This means I am doing yet more driving back and forth. Am quite proud fo DS for doing the course though, so all good.

While out, I also went and bought lots of books, including the new Strike one which was half price in WH Smith. Who aren't called that any more - when did that happen? I also sent my niece a good luck text on the family chat, what with starting Uni. Apparently she starts next week. Hmm Ho hum! #confused.

ApricotCrush · 20/09/2025 17:00

Afternoon. A miserable, gloomy day with much rain. We're also cold and have electric fire/fan heater on, and are contemplating the heating, although I would like to hang on a bit.

I must have a look at my knitting half finished stuff LetUs, it's getting a bit out of hand. I've been doing some tidying up on the computer this afternoon.

Didn't know that about W.H.Smith Helen, although they closed in our town some time ago. Well done to MiniHelen on his coaching course.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 20/09/2025 19:56

The one in our town changed a few weeks ago - I did a double take walking past it. Probably looked like a right prat!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2025 22:02

<snort> at double-taking at Not-WHSmiths. I walked up and down the street looking bemused - 'Where's it gone???' So I was no better.

Hope that LetUs has a nice meet-up and the washing got dry.

LetUsPrey · 21/09/2025 08:45

Morning wenches.

The rain yesterday. Crikey. Thought at one point it just wasn’t ever going to stop, so it’s nice to see bright sunshine this morning.

Well done to MiniHelen, hope he had a good day.

WH Smith closed in WorkTown earlier this year. Don’t think it’ll reopen as anything.

Usual Sunday ahead I think. I’ve already done the ironing. Hope Wicked isn’t still suffering from that cold.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/09/2025 12:15

morn afternoon all. Is have shuttled DS off to coaching and fed DH, who is recuperating in front of the athletics <looks up> F1.

Much wind and rain overnight, more heavy showers forecast today - which might translate to just continuous cloud unless you're under one which decides to dump down.

I shall find it hard to get motivated to do anything today other than read new books. Who needs hoovered carpets anyway?

Hope everywench has a good day!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 21/09/2025 13:08

How is it Sunday already? The weekend always pass by so fast!

Still coughing and have a runny nose, brilliant Hmm

Did manage a visit to the optician without coughing so glad that's out of the way. Will be picking up my new glasses in two weeks.

More than halfway through the new Strike novel, quite enjoying it but a bit frustrated with Robin Hmm

What books did you buy besides Strike, Helen?

Hope you have a wonderful week off Letus, you deserve it!

ApricotCrush · 21/09/2025 16:26

Afternoon. Lovely day, much sunshine, although a bit chilly when a cloud comes over. I’ve been sitting on the sunlounger while DH mows the lawn. Most of the washing has dried, but some of it still feels a bit damp, although perhaps it’s just cold. Hmm

Is the new Strike as long as the last few WW? I found the last one I read a bit heavy going, can’t remember which one it was. Glad you’re feeling better.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/09/2025 20:48

Evening wenches.

Usual Sunday with lovely sunshine, although not very warm.

Going to wait for the new Strike in paperback. NC is reading it though and says she’s loving it. She really liked The Running Grave and says this one is even better.

Hope the illing feeling goes away quickly Wicked.

Hovering is indeed massively overrated Helen.

LetUsPrey · 22/09/2025 06:50

Morning wenches.

Week off!!! Hurrah!!

GP appointment (well, check up with nurse) first thing then lots of house organising to do in the shape of the dreaded accumulated paperwork, then meeting DS2 off the bus so we can do some errands in town.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/09/2025 10:14

Morning all. Sunshine and heavy showers here. And tiired. DS didn't organise himself (and heaven forbid he listens to us) so he was up past midnight doing homework for today, and feeling sorry for himself. Wobbly cat has her anti-wobble vet treatment today, and she's gone to sleep under the bed, so getting her out will be fun Confused.

Books - I also got:
https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-tremolo-diaries/justin-currie/9781917923002
One about walking, but I can't remember the title and I'm not downstairs to check
https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-great-when/alan-moore/9781037200939 (which is for DS, but I think I may just read it myself and then just pass it on if he's interested.)

ApricotCrush · 22/09/2025 16:14

Afternoon. Ground frost overnight but it’s been a lovely sunny day. I went into town this morning for a top-up of stuff I buy at M&S as they close down on Saturday. Very sad. Sad This afternoon I sat outside and it was warm until clouds came over.

DH has gone away with his golf friends for a few days so Misty and I have the bed to ourselves.

Poor WobblyCat, hope she’s alright after her treatment.

Also hope nurse check-up and errands went well.

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/09/2025 19:02

Apes yes, I think it's about 900 pages or so.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/09/2025 21:56

The new Strike is stupid long with too many people in it. I'm spending a lot of time wondering who they're talking about, and then just carrying on reading on the basis that I'll catch up with the plot/figure it out eventually. I only bought the hbk because it was half price - I'd planned to wait for the pbk.
The other book was this one https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-lost-paths/jack-cornish/9781405951296

Anyway, there's been working, taxi-ing and cooking today. WobblyCat enjoyed her trip out to the vet and is busy being asleep. DS was a stubborn little shit about doing his homework earlier, but is doing it now (on his terms). I'm going to have an early-for-me night.

LetUsPrey · 23/09/2025 06:58

Morning wenches.

Oh Helen that all sounds like a bit of a trial <squidge>

Check up went well, errands with DS2 was a mixed bag, the rest of the day was pleasant.

That’s sad about your M&S Apricot. “Try to support your local high street” we would if there was anything left. 😞

Today I’m taking mother shopping.

Have super days wenches.
