Good spot Apricot!

Today's adulting has involved cat vom and cleaning out the chicken shed. Plus a nice walk where we spent a lot of time wondering what the multiple big flappy birds were and what on earth was making that noise. Weather has been civilised, laundry has been done, plus washing up, and a few weeds have been hoiked out, etc.

IdiotKitty is annoyed because one of next door's chickens came into the house and ate his food. IdiotKitty is also an idiot because I left him a room with the door partly closed, and he shut himself in by leaning against it, rather then nudging it open with his idiot head. I'm not convinced there are any brain cells active in his head.

Now it's time for a suodku before starting to cook. Epic excitement Hmm Grin

Evening wenches.

Thanks for the new thread Apricot.

Rain and then not rain but dull.

Usual Sunday which was nice. Finished a small knitting project and have started another, but some of it uses dark yarn so my eyes have no chance with that at this time of the evening.

Oh IdiotKitty you silly thing.

Am full of homemade pizza so am expanding as I type on the sofa whilst watching more Lynley, this one with Tom Burke in it.

Morning wenches,

Oh look, Monday again. Very much not in the mood for this. And it’s all frosty which is just silly seeing as I was out without a coat on Saturday morning.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2025 07:43

Morning all. It's cold, but no frost here.

I have a wash on the line already because DH somehow managed to chuck his wineglass all over himself last night, smashing it on his tablet in the process. I looked like I was doing an impression of a bird's mating dance with my head weaving and bobbing all over the place to different angles trying to catch glints of broken glass. WobblyCat was also on his lap at the time and completely unfazed because the wine didn't reach her. Never mind that I had to hoover her as well to make sure there were no splinters of glass in her fur Confused. (The tablet was fine, so at least that's not another annoyance to add to his woes.)

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 24/03/2025 17:07

Afternoon. Lovely day, although it was chilly this morning. The magpies are ripping up the lawn, I think it’s for leatherjackets <nto> the larvae of crane flies. DH has been treating it and covering it up. There’s always something. Hmm

Oh dear, that’s the sort of thing DH would do Helen and poor WobblyCat having to be hoovered. I’m interested in how you managed that, Misty runs a mile when she sees any kind of hoover.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 24/03/2025 20:44

Evening wenches.

Poor WobblyCat. I have an image in my head of her sitting there as you hoovered her, rolling her eyes and thinking “for cat’s sake”.

<snort> at the potentially wenchy magpies.

There was a blackbird on the tree right outside the front window this morning being what I believe is called in proper ornithological terms “a right chirpy fucker”.

Work wasn’t too bad for a change.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2025 20:57

Evening all. LOL at “a right chirpy fucker”. Grin It's that time of year again. We had a small flock of redwings in the garden at the weekend.

WobblyCat, being deaf as a post, is massively unbothered by the hoover these days, and since it was the handheld one on low suction and she's stubborn she saw no reason to disturb herself!

Work has been bitty today - lots of emails to answer, and trying to spot if anything's been missed. Also good local gossip about someone who left to go to Oz with their other half, and has now returned with someone completely different. Scandal! Grin

LetUsPrey · 25/03/2025 07:11

Morning wenches.

Damp and soggy sums it up outside this morning.

Ooooo Helen that sounds like Sleeping Murder where someone goes out to India to marry someone but meets someone else on the boat. Might have been someone on the way there and someone else on the way back too! Such scandal.

Suppose I must get on. Sleep wasn’t great so today will be even more super than usual.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2025 10:22

Morning all. It was nice and sunny earlier, but I've just looked out of the window and seen dirty grey clouds Sad

Must work....

Afternoon. Nice day but no sun. The lilac tree outside our bedroom is in bud and the magnolia over the road is in flower which is lovely to see. Smile

I can’t remember any scandal in our road since we’ve been here but I believe there was a shotgun murder somewhere up the road before that.Shock

We’ve finished watching Protection which might have been better for me if there had been subtitles, so I’m a bit in the dark. We’re contemplating watching Adolescence. Hmm

Evening
Had my mammogram this morning and then a catch up with a financial advisor, so still don't seem to have done much in the garden yet - did do a little this afternoon. And made it to the garden centre of course 😁

I wish I could hoover Floof, he is moulting so much at the moment.

Speaking off fluff, I am resolutely avoiding all disturbing TV (the news is bad enough FFS) - I have started watching the old Bergerac episodes. Quite entertaining and good fun for playing 'spot the actor'. Predictably this has sent me down a few IMDb rabbit holes.

LetUsPrey · 25/03/2025 21:02

Evening wenches.

Another day of dealing with someone else’s (same person as before) cock up <nlt>

Hopefully you can get some garden time in good weather red.

The lilac and magnolia sounds beautiful Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2025 21:49

Evening all. Nothing of interest has happened today. Though I'm sure I've done stuff. I'm just not quite sure what. Work has been another day of fielding emails, and producing update summaries, so it doesn't feel like I've done much. Hmm
Oh well. meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow and I have lots of flex, so hurrah for long lunches!

LetUsPrey · 26/03/2025 07:20

Morning wenches.

Time-consuming tasks are not good for morale IYSWIM Helen. Enjoy your lunch with a friend, hope there’s good food and lots of laughing

Another crappy sleep, but it’s an early finish today so there’s that.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2025 07:27

Morning all. We have frost and sunshine and clear blue skies. I'm hoping the sunshine will win and the car will be defrosted by the time we leave.

DH has been avoiding depressing/alarming TV for a while, though DS is still making us watch Daredevil, which isn't the cheeriest viewing.

Yay for a short day LetUs. How is your wrist now?

Hope everywench has a good day and that Fancy manages to get out in the to garden.

ApricotCrush · 26/03/2025 17:18

Afternoon. Nice day, I did a bit of tidying in the garden as it’s bin day

We did start Adolescence; it is upsetting but DD has watched it and said she thought she should. I don’t know what the world’s coming to. Sad It’s all so different to when I was a child, or even when our two were children. Anyway when we’ve finished it I’ll suggest we go back to the Bergerac episodes Fancy, I always enjoyed those.

Hope Helen enjoyed her lunch with her friend and LetUs enjoyed her early finish.

Evening wenches.

I am thoroughly ostrich like when it comes to a lot of tv, such as Waterloo Road which I think started around the time DS1 was about to go to high school, so it’s fortunate we don’t have Netflix so I can safely avoid Adolescence. Although I’ve read a lot about it, and yes, it sounds terrifying as is the real world.

I’ve finally got round to watching Doctor Who which I’ll hopefully finish before the new series.

Work was tricky and I’ve a crappy task which I didn’t get chance to finish (not having all the information I needed didn’t really help).

Wrist feels much better but my shoulder’s a bit iffy now. There’s always something 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2025 21:34

Evening.

I had a lovely lunch with my friend. Lots of chat and mutual ranting about work and laughing. Then I went back to work and - urgh. The tedium of dealing with what feels like will-full incompetence (and no, I'm not going to do that for you - do it yourself). I may have been a bit brusque in my final email of the day.

We never did finish the last series of Doctor Who.

LetUsPrey · 27/03/2025 07:06

Morning wenches.

You do start to feel they’re doing it on purpose sometimes Helen.

Lovely sunny start to the day.

Considering booking a physio appointment because everything hurts, which wouldn’t be happening if I’d been doing the exercises she’d given me.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2025 09:57

Morning. Tiiiiiired. It is lovey and sunny though.

My shoulder identifies with your generic aches LetUs <side-eyes at dust-covered weights I'm meant to use for exercises> How are your eyes Apricot - are you still waking up with painfully dry eyes in the middle of the night?
<builds hospital/physio/recuperation wing for Tav.>
<installs Dr Aramis and Dr Athos and DrWhoeverHeWasFromPoldark-Ennis - that's the one!>

FancyFancy · 27/03/2025 15:53

Afternoon, I'M ON THE TRAIN. On the way back from lunch with some friends from where I used to live. Lovely to see them all. Am now enjoying some performance parenting - Dad to toddler son 'When have you had a chicken nugget? don't think you've had a chicken nugget in your life have you?' God I live in a posh area 🤣

Yesterday's guest actress in Bergerac was Prunella Scales.

Did do some gardening yesterday - got less done than I'd hoped as it made my back ache. Also got bitten FFS. May do a bit more when I get home, although it looks a bit grey out there......

ApricotCrush · 27/03/2025 16:46

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day, I sat outside for half an hour earlier. DH is gardening. He had a root canal this morning but hasn’t been complaining so I assume it isn’t bothering him and I won’t remind him of it.

The dry eyes are a bit better Helen but I’ve stopped using the mask so it’s my own fault if they get worse again.

Nice to catch up with old friends Fancy. Hope the aches and pains haven’t been too bad LetUs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2025 19:14

Evening all.

FAF alert on TV - TB is in Klokkenluider (no, I don't know either) on Film4, Saturday 29th at 11:20. And before that on C4, Mrs Harris Goes to Paris looks lovely and undemanding. I will record them and they will sit on the box util I have time to watch them with manshapes interrupting. the the TB one has Jenna Colman in it, so DH will be interested.

<snort> at performance parenting. I used to take DS to the beach with a rice salad as a packed lunch, and then my friends would unpack their lunches of crisps and sarnies and I'd feel a bit embarrassed. Though DS really liked rice salad.

Fingers crossed for MrA's tooth continuing to not cause problems.
