Evening wenches.

Tiiiirrreeeddddd.

Fingers crossed re MrApricot’s tooth and your eyes Apricot. Oooo at sitting outside for a bit - lovely 😊

😁 at being on the train Fancy. <passes antihistamines and ointment for bite>

Ah but did you loudly announce the rice salad Helen, whilst looking around to see who was listening and in great admiration? I very much doubt it 😁

<faceplants on bar>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2025 20:35

I did once see a MN thread where someone was accused of being wanky for calling their child over to have a brioche for a snack. I remember being Confused Blush and thinking "But brioches are really nice, why can't we eat brioches?"

Also WTAF is the KFC advert on about - enormous golden egg and someone being dipped into a lake and turned into a breaded drumstick. ????

FancyFancy · 27/03/2025 22:41

Healthy or different snacks/food are definitely allowed, it only becomes wanky when they're loudly announced - like letus said Grin

Hope MrA's root canal continues to not bother him

No idea about that ad helen, it sounds bonkers.

I did do a bit more digging in the garden this afternoon - am determined to make a decent amount of progress on building the rock garden during this week off - not least because I bought some plants for it on Monday, so I'm committed now!

I'm off to watch another Bergerac, any bets on who the guest star will be tonight?

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2025 07:21

Morning wenches.

Sunshine all gone now and it’s tipping it down and is quite windy.

Brioches are indeed delicious Helen. That ad is bonkers and, not that we eat a lot of KFC or other fast food, it’s had the opposite effect and we definitely don’t want any. I’m probably missing the point of the ad but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Love the sound of the forthcoming rock garden Fancy. Hmm, I’ll go for Joanna David, Robert Hardy, possibly Ronald Pickup as guest stars at some point.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2025 08:48

Morning. I love that Catherine Tate sketch Grin
We had lovely sunshine when I got up, but back I'm back from dropping DS and it's gone right to pot, looks like rain. Today I have time off in a 'use it or lose it' annual leave. So of course its' going to rain Hmm
Ho hum - have a lovely day all. TFI and all that!

FancyFancy · 28/03/2025 15:42

'I've only just got my head round hummus' 🤣

Yesterday was Simon Cadell. Had to Google his name and what he has been in as I couldn't remember.

ApricotCrush · 28/03/2025 17:26

Afternoon. Nice day, showery this morning but very pleasant since, although the wind was still cold when I went to do a Sainsbury shop.

I don't know whether we've got Film 4 Helen, I'll have a look.

DH's root canal hasn't troubled him at all, thanks. Our dentist is very good, I'm terrified he'll retire. Hmm

I hadn't seen that video before, very funny. Grin

Have a good evening all. Wine

Evening wenches.

Basically running on fumes today. Still, the day’s done and I’m watching TOTP 1982. I don’t think fake tan had really been properly discovered - lots of very pale people. I’m not counting the orange blusher 😁

Snooooorrrrttt at that video Wicked.

Flipping cold wind here too, and rain.

<passes all the vitamins to Apricot’s dentist>

Ah Simon Cadell from Hi-de-Hi. His sister, Selina Cadell, pops up regularly in stuff too but to me she’ll always be either “the excellent Miss Dove” from Miss Marple A Pocketful of Rye, or Caroline Sheppard in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

They’ve just shown a picture of Depeche Mode on the Top 20 countdown. They looked about 10 years old.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2025 22:45

Evening all.

It has been a day of me firefighting idiocy from ridiculous people with yet more obstructive incompetence and also plain batshit behaviour. Who in their right mind sends in an email on Friday afternoon and then has a full on strop on Monday because they haven't had a reply?! And how do you get to be a project manager with apparently no concept of giving coherent updates or being able to monitor your budget? F.M.A.L.
<throws all work fuckwits in the bin>
<sets bin on fire>

On the plus side, the weather was nice and warm when the sun was out and you were out of the wind. DS and I have had a game of Exploding Kittens this evening, which is always a giggle (though also complicated and a bit baffling because we don't play it often enough for me to remember how it works).

FancyFancy · 28/03/2025 23:27

Evening, I do love those old TOTPs , cracking music <ignores the fashions>

There is a special toasty place in hell for work fuckwits Helen If you like Exploding Kittens I can recommend Secret Hitler, but you need more people to play.

I did a bit more gardening and got a few more bites. Still, progress is being made.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/03/2025 07:28

Morning all. It's sunny and the morning chores are done. I can smell bacon wafting through from the kitchen, but I said I didn't want anything cooked (porridge soaking overnight) so I may do a sneaky bacon butty later Grin
Have a good day all.

LetUsPrey · 29/03/2025 07:37

Morning wenches.

Mmmmmm bacon.

Work fuckwits abound and they can all fall in a hole.

Dishes done, washing nearly finished. Plan today is to hide in the back room with knitting and crochet. I’m making something for AuntiesNotRealAunties to send up for Easter. Nothing like a deadline to focus the mind, although must be careful not to knacker my wrist/arm/shoulder.

Have super days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 29/03/2025 16:01

Afternoon. Cloudy and windy here. It’s looking like rain so I’d better go and get the washing in.

DH is watching darts so I’m upstairs sorting some drawers out.

I’ve recorded that Klokkenwhateveritis Helen.

We’re going out later for a joint Mother’s Day/DS birthday meal.

FancyFancy · 29/03/2025 17:31

Have a lovely meal apricot

Managed to get a rather unimpressive pic of the partial eclipse this morning😁 Have mostly pottered today - some food shopping and then more gardening - trying to keep the momentum up <ignores complaints from back>

Yesterday's guest appearance was a very young Anthony Head. And as a bonus, the actor who used to play Anton Meyer in early Holby City episodes.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 29/03/2025 20:57

Just finished watching The Crow Girl, can really recommend it!

LetUsPrey · 29/03/2025 20:57

Evening wenches.

Lovely day to about 1pm then it rained and went rather rubbish.

Fancy 😁 I do like playing which episode of Midsomer Murders/Poirot/other tv drama have they been in. Hurrah for IMDB though to help my poor brain. Pottering sounds good. Missed the eclipse.

Hope you’ve had a lovely evening out Apricot.

Haven’t done much today which I think is what I needed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/03/2025 21:27

Evening all. Today has been productive - I have taken out my frustrations on patches of nettles and ground elder, done some mowing, planted some seeds and generally been a hive of activity. Apart from 9-11am when I went back to bed and just had a whole series of those dreams when you think you're awake and getting out of bed, but you're still asleep - even when you prove to yourself you're awake - look here's me pushing the duvet off and my feet are on the floor and I'm walking round the bed, and... oh, I'm still in bed Hmm. At least 6 of those I'd say, so I'm not sure how much good the extra couple of hours did me. Plus yowly cat reminding me that she was on the bed too, and IdiotKitty came chirping in to join in as well. <le yawn>

Also, I slept through the eclipse. Weather was nice though - out in the garden in a t-shirt Shock

I'll have to google 'Crow Girl'.

Hope that Apricot is having a lovely meal out and LetUs got a good start of the Easter gift.

LetUsPrey · 30/03/2025 08:07

Morning wenches.

No Helen, that doesn’t exactly sound restful.

Weather looks pleasant enough so far. Earlier visit than usual to the parents but rest of the day will be a general Sunday.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/03/2025 10:36

Morning all. DS' girlfriend is here and brought me chocolates as her 'fake mother' (because she wasn't sure if she was meant to) Aaaaaaaaawwwwwwww Grin DH was baffled because he'd completely forgotten about mother's day (other than him asking me to get him a card for his mother, which I then posted for him Hmm) DH would have remembered later today because he is going to the supermarket after sporting activity stuff, so it would be rammed in his face at that point. DS has yet to acknowledge mothers day. Hmm Sod 'em. I've got a Green and Black tasting collection, and they're not getting any of it. The ones I don't like will go to work with me.

More sunshine and gardening today I think.

Have a good day all.

FancyFancy · 30/03/2025 12:37

Afternoon.

Sod 'em indeed Helen, I've had a few 'memorable for the wrong reasons' Mother's Days and it sucks. It's not as if we're high maintenance sorts who expect a full on ticker tape parade or anything. Yay for DS's girlfriend, she sounds like an absolute sweetie though. With any luck DS will feel suitably ashamed 😁

Am off to DD's later for food and crap TV, DS is not free Hmm but has promised to meet up next weekend - he has actually messaged me this morning, an improvement on some previous years!

Right, time for some more digging in the garden.....

ApricotCrush · 30/03/2025 16:28

Afternoon. Lovely day but I haven’t been out except to take DH a cuppa while he’s gardening.

DS and DD both came round this morning with cards and flowers. They arrived at the same time which wasn’t planned. Bad HelenDS but his GF made up for it. I think men in general aren’t good at this sort of thing. DH always forgets my birthday until the day, when he sees other cards and has to dash out in a panic. I’m not that bothered really.

I forgot about the eclipse.

I looked up Crow Girl WW but we don’t have the channel.

DD has asked us round for a roast dinner so that’s two nights running I don’t have to cook. Smile

LetUsPrey · 30/03/2025 20:03

Evening wenches.

So much was Fancy said. Also some memorable but for wrong reasons Mothers’ Days. Today was nice. Lovely card from DS2, although he had no hand in the same every year (admittedly what I ask for) gifts. DS1 messaged and then phoned. He’s away with his girlfriend for a family birthday this weekend. How lovely of NotSoMiniHelen’s girlfriend, and the FancyDC.

Excellent result with the not cooking again Apricot. Sounds like you had a good day too.

I’ll look up that programme Wicked.

Was very nice to see mum (and dad) this morning and then LovelyMIL came for lunch. She was chatty but much of it wasn’t making sense. I know she’s not going to get better but it still somehow a bit surprising that she’s getting worse if that makes sense.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/03/2025 21:50

Evening. As predicted, I've been in the garden most of the day. Was feeling very pleased about dealing with the brambles I got rid of, and then remembered some that I'd forgotten about. So I'll have to have another go sometime soon. The chickens all escaped today- the wind rattled their door open and they were happily scratching about all over the garden by the time I realised.

Crow Girl looks a bit dark Wicked - I feel the need for mindless happy fluffy TV. Apricot - we've just watched KlokkenWhatNot - don't bother. For something that's described as a 'Comedy Thriller', it's lacking in comedy. I mean it's good as character studies and keeps you guessing, but that's 2 hours of life I won't get back Hmm
<Cwtch> re LovelyMIL LetUs - it's rubbish Sad

Is DS all settled in his new flat now Fancy?

LetUsPrey · 31/03/2025 07:24

Morning wenches.

Grin at the escapee chickens. Perhaps they want you to think the wind rattled the door open Helen, but they really managed to open it themselves.

I’ve been watching the reboot of Fantasy Island. Very enjoyable.

Looks like it’s Monday again.

Have lovely days wenches.
