Morning all. I was WorkyMcWorkFace last night until gone midnight, but the work is now in a good place, so hurrah. Cold this morning, with icy swirls all over the cars. I was hoping that the sun would do the defrosting for for me, but it went behind a cloud and has only just come out again (not not properly) so I need to get out there and scrape...

Have a good day all!

ApricotCrush · 14/03/2025 17:21

Afternoon. Cloudy and cold. I thought I’d have a look for the lunar eclipse when I woke up in the night as it was clear when I went to bed. It had clouded over. I miss all these celestial events. I tried to look at the line-up of the planets the other week and all I managed to do was crick my neck. Grin

Nothing going on here.

Have a good evening all. Wine

Evening all. OMG the ice om the car this morning - it was like someone had poured water over the windscreen and it had frozen solid. Still it was nice and sunny for most of the day.

I didn't see the moon - forgot to be honest. They mentioned it on the radio this morning and the best time was first thing - which had been and gone by then.

Today I have worked and taxi'd and taken DS to the dentist, which involves going past a wool shop - which always makes me think of wenches.

LetUsPrey · 14/03/2025 22:01

Evening wenches.

The fact I have quite a large vodka next to me should tell you what sort of day it’s been.

Eeeek at the ice on the car Helen.

I always miss the celestial events too Apricot, although the moon looks very big and bright tonight.

<notes position of MiniHelen’s dentist>

LetUsPrey · 15/03/2025 07:32

Morning wenches.

Proper icy this morning. Not a fan. Not that I’m going anywhere mind you.

Washing is on and lots of other things to do.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/03/2025 11:29

Morning. Cold this morning, and some ice, but the grass was wet rather than frosty at 7am.

Worky things are going on just now, then some garden things, and out for SportingCompetition this evening. There are other things to do, but no-one's going to die for lack of hoovering Grin

ApricotCrush · 15/03/2025 17:21

Afternoon. Still cold. I went to post a parcel this morning and walked round the road when I got back. The temporary traffic lights and the roadworks have gone. Hurrah! They’ve made a right mess of the road though. Sad

DH has finished the painting. It’s only one wall though, but the most difficult as it’s mock- Tudor, so fiddly and high up. I hope he’s going to leave the rest for now.

Wish there was a wool shop by my dentist.

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for completed roadworks and temporary lights going Apricot!

Sensible attitude to take there Helen about the hoovering and housework.

I’ve had a day of pottering about, also started a jigsaw.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/03/2025 22:43

Evening all. Phew! Glad that MrA is down safely. I got work done and then planted stuff and did a bit of weeding, and... stuff.

SportingCompetition was fine, and now we're all home and tiiiiiiiired.

LetUsPrey · 16/03/2025 08:18

Morning wenches.

You know when you’re pre-irritated with the day for no discernible reason? That’s me that is. And there are nice things happening (DS1 and his girlfriend, and LovelyMIL coming round) so that should cheer me. We’ll see.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/03/2025 09:57

Morning all. Its been sunny and rainy and sunny... I have no idea what the actual forecast is, but there's washing in the machine.

IdiotKitty is currently showing an old bootlace who's in charge here. Grin

ApricotCrush · 16/03/2025 17:01

Afternoon. Cloudy and cold here, although I haven't been out.

I've been scanning some very old photos of my Mum's to get them into some sort of order to put onto CDs for the DC. I've also got a family tree that one of my cousins put together with the help of one of those ancestry sites, going back generations. It's like a jigsaw puzzle as it's huge but on separate A4 sheets. I daren't put it out on the floor while Misty's about as she'll destroy it. Grin

Hope you've all had a good day.

Grin at IdiotKitty.

LetUsPrey · 16/03/2025 18:49

Evening wenches.

You tell that bootlace IdiotKitty.

Family trees are so interesting Apricot. I think my dad did his a little while ago. I like watching Who Do You Think You Are, but really just the UK one. I’ve watched a few of the US ones but there’s only so many times you can hear someone say “ wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!”

Was lovely to see DS1 and his girlfriend and LovelyMIL who seemed a little brighter than she has been recently. Have avoided knitting today because of wrist pain since yesterday which hadn’t got any better overnight. It feels a bit better now so my brain‘s telling me that go on, it’s better now, pick up the needles.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/03/2025 19:26

Sounds like your wrist needs a proper rest LetUs - tell you brain to shut up and stop encouraging you to do something daft. Hope that your day improved anyway.

We've got literally filing cabinets full of family history stuff that Mum pulled together - though we ground to a halt with one branch when it turned out they came from France. It's fascinating - especially trying to prove old family stories "so-and-so was related to a Lord Mayor of London, you know." (Or not, as far as we could find.)

Today has been spent mooching on the sofa, and in the garden. It doesn't feel very productive, but I've had a very important. ongoing job as a cat bed. Grin Weather has also been mostly fine.

FancyFancy · 16/03/2025 21:14

Evening. Have had a pottering sort of a day - have to work tomorrow, so lazed around a lot & then did a few jobs. Actually did a bit of gardening, mostly a bit of tidying (sweeping away the feathery remnants of a pigeon) and moved the first weeds of the year Grin. The hellebores are out in force & the primroses are looking good. Am expecting a hectic week at work <sighs> but am off the following week. No parental news as yet, keeping fingers crossed.

LetUsPrey · 17/03/2025 07:19

Morning wenches.

I do like the gardening talk. I don’t understand a lot of it, but it sounds so nice 😁

You need that team of BBC researchers Helen and then you’d get a hopefully free trip to France 😁. Cat Ed is surely a very important job.

Wrist seems better but I’ll give it another evening off knitting today after work I suppose.

Not quite getting the brain in gear today.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/03/2025 16:01

Didn't I post this morning? Ah well. I did, in my head.

Today is sunny and chilly and I have been/am working. Fancy's hellebores are doing very nicely in my garden as well.

I quite like the idea of a free trip to France. Though less keen on having to be on camera being all awed and enthused by the work of the researchers - “wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!” I would be awed etc, but have to drop the <brf>. And that's an acronym I haven't used for a loooong time.

I want chocolate. Or biscuits. Or something sweet and unhealthy. I think I'm out of chocolate which is a terrifying thought. Though I do have the velvetiser grated chocolate, so I'm not completely out. Ooooooooooh I have pfeffer/leibkind-whatnots still (spicy Xmas biscuits - no idea what they're really called or how they're spelled.)
<stages raiding party in kitchen>

ApricotCrush · 17/03/2025 16:36

Afternoon. I did a Lidl shop this morning and it's still very cold.

The trouble with all this ancestry stuff is that everyone's related to someone famous or infamous. No-one is ever descended from a parlour maid or a groomsman. Fascinating though.

We've finished Inspector Lynley and have enjoyed it enormously. It seemed to end suddenly in the middle of a series. I wonder what happened there. Hmm

Evening wenches.

Aaaarrrgggghhhhh at work. Flipping nonstop.

You could be more the “nodding with interest, mmhmm” type person Helen.

I’d be quite happy to find ancestors who are interesting rather than famous.

That’s just reminded me about Inspector Lynley. I’ve downloaded the first episode. It’ll be good knitting tv when I pick the needles up again tomorrow

Have just seen that Dairy Milk (I have varied tastes in chocolate 😁) has done a crossover with Biscoff biscuits. I shall have to stay away from shops.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/03/2025 21:30

Evening. Not much has happened since I last posted really Hmm I cooked tea - whoop.

Hope that work's a bit less bonkers tomorrow LetUs.

Morning wenches.

I’ll have a look at the one later tonight Wicked. I briefly saw that one the other day Helen 😁

Very frosty again this morning, but sunny.

Let’s see what Tuesday brings.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/03/2025 07:18

Morning all. Frosty here too, but it's also sunny and the sun is very much winning.

More of the same here - work and domestic stuff. Hope every wench has a good day.

ApricotCrush · 18/03/2025 15:36

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day, I had my window open and the sun was really hot.

Those are funny threads. I loved one recently about why cucumbers are wrapped in supermarkets but courgettes aren’t and it went completely and hilariously off the rails.

I’ve got a gum infection, my teeth are a nightmare. I’m doing the salt water thing, hopefully I can sort it.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 18/03/2025 20:42

Evening wenches.

I’ll not mention work.

Sunshine here too but still a bit chilly walking to the car park.

Oh no at gum infection Apricot 😔. Here’s hoping the salt water rinses do the trick.

I started Inspector Lynley tonight. Quite the supporting cast - Bill Nighy, Martin Jarvis, Henry Cavill.
