Ow Apricot Sad I hope the salt water works. Maybe try TCP? (It's my 'go to' for tonsil problems.)

Sunny, and yet baltic. <wraps all wenches up in blankets and HBFs>

FancyFancy · 18/03/2025 21:43

Evening

Work remains manic <sigh> but in good news, looks like my car insurance will be £100 cheaper this year, very happy with that.

I'll join you all in feeling it's rather chilly - still it does look quite pretty in the sunshine with new buds everywhere and lovely light late afternoons.

Ouch apricot, gum infections are infuriating. I'm another fan of salt water rinses, so keeping fingers crossed for you.

I dipped into that thread ww - there are more & more bonkers MN threads <conveniently ignores own part in past batshittery on this site>

LetUsPrey · 19/03/2025 06:58

Morning wenches.

Insurance also dropped for me Fancy. Nice change to get something positive!

It’s all frosty and sunny again this morning. Already planning a wash to put out tomorrow because I am that dull.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/03/2025 07:02

Morning all. It is sunny and frosty outside - and misty, so quite scenic. I woke up early and now I'm a cat bed, though I'll have to turf her off carefully carry her upstairs shortly to wake up DS.

Today is work/dentist/work, etc.

Excellent news re the car insurance Fancy. Though I don't know what 'batshittery' you could possibly be referring to. Perving over hot men in leather and keeping up an imaginary tavern swept and fully stocked seems perfectly reasonable behaviour - no? Hmm Grin Grin Grin

ApricotCrush · 19/03/2025 17:46

Afternoon. Sunny but still cold. I went into town this morning to stock up on essentials. I’ve never been into our Iceland but I thought I’d see if they’d got some frozen bags of rice which Sainsbury’s don’t sell any more. They did so I took it to the till. Only one of eight was open with a queue of people with full trollies, so I put the bag back and tried to leave but you could only get out through the tills which were closed off. I tried to get out of the entrance but there was a barrier which said no exit, so I waited for someone to come in and sneaked out. All the alarms went off. Shock Everyone looked, but I just walked off innocently, no-one came after me. Phew! Why is everything so difficult?

Yay for cheaper insurance, mine isn’t due until October.

Hope work/dentist went well.

Evening wenches.

Sounds completely reasonable and normal to me Helen 😁

The little Sainsburys in NearbyVillage is a bit like that now Apricot. I went in to look for something, they didn’t have it, but then I couldn’t find the way out through the sodding barriers. Can’t imagine you looking anything other than innocent 😊

Am continuing with Inspector Lynley. Idris Elba, James McAvoy, and Ronald Pickup in this one.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/03/2025 21:53

Evening all. Work was work and the dentist was fine, so all good there.

I'd have done exactly the same apricot - my patience for queues like that is minimal! I had no idea you could buy frozen rice though! We were given (unasked for) a rice cooker as a wedding present, and it turned out to be one of the most useful things ever.

LetUsPrey · 20/03/2025 07:15

Morning wenches.

Sunshine here and it’s going to be quite warm. About to put a wash on the line which I suspect will be one of the highlights of my day. Although if that’s as exciting as things get, that’s fine by me.

Also didn’t know about frozen rice. Sounds a very good idea.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/03/2025 16:29

Afternoon all.

FML - what a day so far - Ended up running DS to college this morning because of massive traffic issues (1 hr delays on the bus route), then the road home was shut a well, so meant I was home over an hour later than usual myself. Then had to wait at Dad's for a delivery over lunch because he was going out, and the delivery should have been yesterday. The delivery was in a lorry to big to fit down the road so I had to go out to meet it. then I lost my phone and went scurrying up and down the road trying to find it.

And now I'm on MN instead of catching up with work Hmm

And DH is now at the Dr with a suspected hernia. F.F.S. (Though at least they're seeing him promptly - he only contacted them yesterday.)

On the plus side, the weather's lovely. On the down side, I'm watching it out of a window rather than enjoying it by being outside. FMAL.
<works>

ApricotCrush · 20/03/2025 17:01

Afternoon. Lovely day and quite warm, the washing has all dried, yay!

Oh Helen, what a day, everything seems to happen together. And poor MrHelen, hope it’s dealt with quickly. And you won’t believe this, DH has a hospital appointment tomorrow… for a hernia. He’s had it for some time though and has only just got around to doing something about it as it is now affecting the golf. <shock horror>

The frozen rice comes in little packets per person, which you stick in the microwave for three minutes. Everything has to be easy for me, but I can’t get them any more. Sad

LetUsPrey · 20/03/2025 19:44

Evening wenches.

Bloody hell Helen that’s a day and a half before you even got properly home. DH has had surgery for a hernia about 10-15 years ago. He’d hung on to it for a while before getting it sorted. Hope MrHelen’s okay.

Work was knackering but I’ll definitely have an early night as DS2 and DH will be watching tv.

That’s a bugger about the rice Apricot. Hope all goes well for MrApricot tomorrow.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/03/2025 20:49

ah, all these hernias... Sad

I bet HBFs don't get them. (Reality sucks sometimes!)

LetUsPrey · 21/03/2025 07:10

Morning wenches.

If you’ve an Iceland anywhere near you Apricot, they do the frozen rice in little bags. Bit of pain though if where you usually get them and is local stops doing them.

Not as sunny today but seems to be as warm as yesterday.

Good luck to the various hernia investigations.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/03/2025 14:16

So I'm sure I posted this morning, because I said that there were no traffic disasters this time. This probably means that there's an unposted message on my laptop. The internet was utterly shite this morning, so it's possible that I hit 'post' and it probably didn't even get out of the room.

Friiiiiiiday. I booked leave from work from 11:30am, and finally logged out at 13:40 Hmm oh well, my flex sheet is now overly healthy and I'll be on 'use it or lose it' for flex instead of leave. <le sigh> Logging into freelance now instead of work.

Weather is still pleasant, but clouding over - no more blue skies.

ApricotCrush · 21/03/2025 15:09

Afternoon. No more blue skies here either, but it’s still pleasant.

DH had his hospital appointment with the surgeon, and his op is arranged for 2nd April. Shock DS had an operation for an inguinal hernia when he was four. I think he was born with it although it wasn’t noticeable until he was about two, much to my horror.

Hope MrHelen is alright.

Evening

Sorry to hear about all the hernia woes & fingers crossed for successful treatments.

DD stayed over last so she could be closer to where her appointment was this morning. Only it was cancelled - fortunately before we left for it. Anyhow we had a pleasant evening & a lazy morning. Then FancyMan & I went for a walk this afternoon. Looking forward to a week off now - hoping for some nice weather so I can get in the garden.

LetUsPrey · 21/03/2025 21:35

Evening wenches.

Good news at MrApricot’s rapid appointment.

That sounds a very pleasant way to spend your day Fancy, with the exception of FancyDD’s cancelled appointment. Here’s hoping for perfect gardening and pottering weather for next week for you.

You sound like one of the (few) decent bosses where I am Helen. On a half day but she only stopped working around 2pm.

We have rain forecast for much of the weekend because why not.

LetUsPrey · 22/03/2025 08:05

Morning wenches.

Have optimistically put a wash outside.

DH and DS2 both got up early for motor racing. Am bored of it already.

Meeting BestFriend this morning.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/03/2025 11:26

Morning all.

It was mostly self preservation LetUs - if I get the work done on Friday, then next week the overnight systems will have done their thing and I don't have to do manual calculations. to move on to the next steps. Was freelancing until late again yesterday and left the laptop upstairs as well - was toolazy to fetch it down to post again last night.

Anyway - weekend - hurrah. I had a long lie-in for the first time in a while and feel a bit space cadet-ish. We've got a bit of sun breaking through the cloud, and it's not cold out, so I should get int the garden really. But I have a book on the sofa next to me... Grin I quite fancy a moochy walk though.

Good news re MrA's rapid hernia op and Fancy's week off (and that you found out the appointment was cancelled before you were on the way to it!)

ApricotCrush · 22/03/2025 16:48

Afternoon. We had quite a lot of rain overnight which was welcome for the lawn, and it’s been mainly cloudy today.

I put a colour on my hair this morning, but knocked the bottle over as I was mixing it and had to scoop it up off the draining board. Bit of a disaster.

We’re watching Protection which annoyingly has adverts which you can’t fast forward and also doesn’t have sub-titles which I need, particularly when there are a lot of different accents. I think we’ll skip ITV catch up in future.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 22/03/2025 18:15

Evening wenches.

Been dry and quite warm up until about two hours ago. We’ve just had all the rain and thunder and lightning.

Was lovely to catch up with BestFriend and mooch around the yarn.

And a very lovely space cadet you make Helen 😊

Not being able to skip adverts is so annoying. Could do with subtitles on some of these Inspector Lynley episodes, some of the speech is very quiet so I turn it up and then boom action music!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/03/2025 22:05

Evening all. I love adulting so much. Today it involved rodding out the drains with a hose pipe and clearing out the u-bend in a sink. Plus a bit of weeding and hoovering and general domesticity. And a headache for a lot of the day. FTFO headache. (It has, because asprin.)

Eeek! At the spilt hair colour Apricot Hope it didn't stain anything.

We've had a bit of rain but not much to speak of. Cloudy and damp, but not cold.

Am going to have an early night tonight, and hopefully not have a sleep hangover tomorrow.

LetUsPrey · 23/03/2025 07:26

Morning wenches.

So much adulting Helen! Such fun for you! Hope you got your early night and the headache stays away.

Rain here. Both DH and DS2 were up before me because F1. I’d possibly rather Rod out drains with a hosepipe l

Usual Sunday ahead.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/03/2025 10:11

Morning all. Sympathies re. the F1 LetUs - DH didn't bother with getting up early to watch it.

We have the usual Sunday too. Not sure what the weather is planning on doing today, so that might need to be factored in to plans.
