Afternoon

Glad you're feeling better helen & do let me know if you find a solution to the going to bed too late situation <kicks self>

MOT due here next week letus - am hoping for similar good fortune. I only saw some highlights of the Para tennis, was very good.

Any sign of sunshine apricot? Has been miserable here - some welcome rain yesterday but drizzly and dull since. Chonk & Floof are not impressed. Especially Floof, I don't think he's an outdoorsy sort - he goes out, but mostly seems to sit in flower beds collecting seeds in his coat.

Afternoon. Well, the sun did arrive eventually, after lunch, which didn’t matter as I had a dental appointment this morning. I stripped the bed before I went (no hibernating HBFs Sad ) and got everything on the line.

I sat outside this afternoon and sudokued.

Hope you have a nice time at the theatre LetUs and everyone else has a good evening. Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/09/2024 20:55

Evening. It's been warm here all day, though I didn't see much of the sun. I'm tiiiiiiiiiired, and actually planning to go to bed once I've posted this.
Work is either famine or feast. Today was famine and very boring.

In exciting Hmm news, I picked a load of plums, but they're starting to go over on the tree, so it's going to be a pain prepping them (cutting out bits that are going rotten).

I have visions of Floof romping through the garden dispersing seeds as he goes. Suspect it's more that the seeds stick in his coat though.

Hope that LEtUs enjoys the cinema. *Fancy" - go to bed!!!!

LetUsPrey · 07/09/2024 08:01

Morning wenches.

Sounds like Floof’s not outdoorsy, just likes to sit, vibe is very much like me. I don’t tend to get seeds stuck in my coat although to be honest, I’ve not shaved my legs for a while so who knows?

Theatre was very good. Actor playing Poirot was excellent, rest of the cast were very good too.

Better stay dry today as the washing basket has gone from hmm not quite enough for a full load of anything to OMG it looks like I’ve done no washing for a month, in the space of two days.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/09/2024 16:36

I thought I'd posted this morning. Odd.

Glad the play was good LetUs - I take it that your Poirot didn't have a moustache bigger than his own face? Grin

I have mooched about today - done washing and a charity-shop run, so that feels suitably productive.

ApricotCrush · 07/09/2024 17:00

Afternoon. Very dull and autumnal here with the odd spots of rain.

I haven’t done much, mainly ebaying. I don’t know where it all comes from but I suppose you collect a lot of rubbish desirable items over the years. It’s very slow at the moment, but everything goes eventually.

Glad the play was good LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 08/09/2024 08:18

Morning wenches.

Poirot’s moustache was perfectly acceptable Grin

Meant to post yesterday but clearly forgot such was the excitement of my day of washing and knitting. Didn’t want to make you all jealous.

Thunderstorm forecast for today so it’ll probably just rain. Usually Sunday of ironing, visiting etc. Meeting BestFriend though this morning which will be lovely.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/09/2024 09:37

Morning all. Sunny here just now, but 12mm rain overnight so everything's a bit damp. I have more exciting tidying plans, and also having a walk with a friend. Though no time was set and now I'm waiting to hear what the plans are. Tactical mistake - I should have set a time so we had a default that could be moved, if nothing else.

ApricotCrush · 08/09/2024 17:46

Afternoon. We’ve had a lot of rain overnight and it’s been pretty miserable all day and cold.

I went with DD this afternoon to DS’s house, first time I’ve seen it since just after he moved in. He’s got it really nice, it’s a relief to see him settled. The sale of his house with his ex has stalled, but that’s another story. Hmm

Hope everyone’s enjoyed their day.

FancyFancy · 08/09/2024 19:05

<creaks> Have spent the afternoon in the garden - mowed and fed the lawn, relocated some weeds, weeded about half the drive and gave the car a very half-arsed wash. Am pooped.

We had thunder last night - yay! Lightning was spectacular, thunder not so much. The storm was over FancyMan's house where apparently it was very loud. Chonk and Floof were not spooked at all. Chonk seems to be taking on all the local cats at the moment, so have taken to calling him Scrappy Doo. He lacks FancyCat's pathological hatred of other cats though - when I hear the commotion outside and call him in, he trots in meekly like a little kid relieved his mum has called him in for tea when the big boys get scary. FancyCat regarded my calls as the war cry of approaching reinforcements and would go on the attack as soon as I got near. Floof does not fight. His answer to most things is to sit motionless and then either scarper or roll around on his back. His gangster name is Floof 'the Goof' FancySurname

Evening wenches.

Love the cat descriptions! Funny and sweet. I suspect I’d be a FloofAlike. Goodness knows I’ve got the hair for it. Well done on all the gardening.

So lovely to hear that DS has got his home looking nice Apricot.

Hope you ended up with a nice walk Helen.

It was raining when I got up and it’s got heavier as the day went on. Already bored of it.

As well as usual Sunday stuff I have carried on with the complicated knitting. It was going okay but then I realised I’d made a mistake (a big one and not one of the smaller ones I’ve been able to cover up easily) and had to pull back about seven rows. So I’ve put it to one side and am glaring at it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/09/2024 22:24

Evening. LOL at Chock and Floof's respective fighting styles (or lack of!) They're very sweet. I've very impressed with your gardening Fancy - quite tiring just reading all that!

I have... done washing, a bit of mowing. Went for a walk. Cooked. Hoovered. It has not been a day of high octane excitement, though the walk was very nice. I'm still tiiiiiiiiiired though.

<cbf> and sympathies at the complicated knitting LetUs

What a pain re. the house sale stalling for DS Apricot Sad / Angry - as appropriate.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/09/2024 07:33

Morning. It's grey and cloudy out there. The sun did try to do the 'golden morning light' thing briefly, though a gap in the clouds. Then the gap closed up again.

The manshapes were off doing sporting things most of the weekend, but came back with little medals and trophies so they're both happy bunnies. Well, DS would be, if he wasn't too busy being 'cool' Grin (I think he was happy at the time, but by the time they'd got bac home he was focussed on important stuff like getting on his Xbox, not on telling me anything about it!)

LetUsPrey · 09/09/2024 07:34

Morning wenches.

The rain seems to have stopped but the world from here just looks very very soggy.

That does sound tiring though Helen.

NiceColleague off this week, colleague whose work we cover as she’s part time if only in one day. Looks like it’ll be a busy week.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 09/09/2024 16:50

Afternoon. Much rain overnight, but it’s brightened up now. I went into town this morning to get some birthday cards and other bits and pieces. (It’s been a city for the last 24 years, but it will always be town to me.)

Lovely to hear about Chonk and Floof’s adventures.

Well done to the menfolk Helen.

Hope LetUs’s day hasn’t been too bad.

LetUsPrey · 09/09/2024 19:52

Evening wenches.

Tiiiiiiiirrreeeddddd. Cooolllllllddddddd. We seem to have bypassed autumn and gone straight to winter.

<faceplants in hayloft>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/09/2024 19:57

Evening all.
<wraps LetUs in HBFs>

I have spent a lot of day doing the taxi thing (this is going to be an ongoing whinge for the next couple of years). And working, and trying not to fall down internet wormholes.

It's been mostly cloudy and damp, with a bit of sun around midday I think. Though I may be making that up.

Cat report from here involves sleeping, yowling, and eating. Not v. exciting of them. But better than bringing wildlife in to be disposed of!

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2024 07:25

Morning wenches.

I give DS2 a lift to college some days but the massive difference is that it’s on my way to work, which it sounds MiniHelen’s very much is not (Helen’s work obviously, not mine).

Appears to not be raining, for now. Forecast says 11° today. Looks like I finished (almost) my new scarf just in time.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/09/2024 07:38

Morning all. Weather is a rinse and repeat of yesterday - cloudy, slight break for some golden sunrise stuff, then back to grey cloud. Not sure if we're due any rain.

If I was full time in the office at BoringOfficeJob then the college run would be a doddle, but I'm not. And WFH isn't on the way to anyone's college Grin Never mind. I look on it as the opportunity to spend time with DS... where he mostly sits in silence and/or plays on his phone Hmm

Have a good day all!

FancyFancy · 10/09/2024 12:46

Afternoon

Rather chillier here too, am trying to look on the bright side - hot water bottles will soon be needed & I love mine. Also Chonk is getting a bit snuggly.

Had a good day yesterday, car passed its MOT - did need new tyres (well one was necessary, the others were advisory) but that was expected so I'm happy. Went into BigCity to see FancyMan do a lunchtime gig which was very enjoyable.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 10/09/2024 16:44

Afternoon. Horrible day, raining and cold.

Well the school bus hasn’t worked out. Sad It seems there are more pupils than seats and the bus is full by the time DGS gets on so he has to stand. Add to that there is a lot of chucking of food and drink and spraying of stuff and the driver is protected by a screen and doesn’t care. It sounds like carnage. So DD and SIL have cobbled together a rota to take and fetch him and we’re collecting him two days a week as before. There is a coach which sounds more civilised but there’s a waiting list for that. It’s a 10 mile round trip for us and the traffic is horrendous. <whinge> <whinge>

Yay for LetUs’s new scarf, no wildlife for Helen and Fancy’s car passing the MOT.

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2024 21:10

Evening wenches.

Well this wind and rain and cold can do one.

Such a joy to spend that extra time with them isn’t it Helen? I was pleasantly surprised when DS2 started volunteering to come out in the car if I was doing an errand etc, but then soon realised it’s so can listen to the sports or comedy things I’ve been listening to.

Other than the new tyre, that sounds excellent all round Fancy. Squeeee at snuggly Chonk!

Oh poor DGS Apricot Sad That bus sounds horrid. Everything crossed that he’s soon at the top of the list for the coach and it’s just right for him.

Hope all is okay with Wicked and any medical issues continue to be under control.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/09/2024 21:10

Fist bump to Fancy - MOT twin, except mine failed on a tyre, too late in the day to order a new one in. So it's having a little mini-break at the garage, and I'm borrowing DH's car for taxi-ing DS about.

What a pain about the bus Apricot - it sounds utterly feral! Shock (Or [sock] as I initially typed, and now I want a 'sock' emoji Grin ) And a double pain about the new commute for you.

Hope that everyone has had a good day - I have been prepping for self assessment. Tedious, but necessary. And actually better than dealing with idiot customers and suppliers.

LetUsPrey · 11/09/2024 07:26

Morning wenches.

Look at us with our (almost) synced MOTs! And new tyre requirements and advisories.

Lots more rain overnight.

Short day hurrah! It’ll leave the office with no support on my floor because of no recruitment and holiday clashes. If you could see my face you would see The Little Face Of Not Caring.

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 11/09/2024 16:15

Afternoon. Sunshine and showers, but very cold. Nothing much going on here, just hair colouring and knitting.

I have to do a self-assessment return too Helen; I’m an accidental landlady. I think I should get DH to watch me do it this year because if anything happened to me he wouldn’t have a clue where to start. Hmm

Hope everyone’s had a good day.
