Morning all. Sun here still, though were were promised rain and thunder for yesterday - that didn't happen and there's none forecast today now. Which is useful since I have to squeeze some work in, then go out and enable DS's last hurrah of school-based social life before college starts (there are some inset days here).

That sounds like the most wonderfully civilized weekend Fancy

Hope your back improves rapidly LetUs Sad Dr Arais says you should lie back and let me work on you <tae> obvs. Grin

ApricotCrush · 02/09/2024 16:59

Afternoon. Rain this morning but it brightened up later.

DH returned home at 5 o’clock having been mixing concrete all day and shovelling it into a hole he’d dug. He wasn’t completely unscathed as he had a bit of a black eye after head-butting the top of a ladder. 🙄

That sounds like a lovely weekend Fancy.

Well done on the crochet blanket LetUs. That’s a big project which I’m sure will be much appreciated by DNiece. Hope your back is improving.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/09/2024 17:00

You didn't scream Apes?? I screamed at the supermarket this weekend when I saw a lovely shrimp sandwich not really Grin

That sounds like a perfect weekend Fancy Smile

I watched A Haunting in Venice this weekend, quiet enjoyed it actually, Kenneth Branagh's moustache seemed smaller so that might be the reason Hmm

Well done on the blanket Letus. I also have a very important question, what kind of cake did you have at the anniversary?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2024 19:03

Evening. It's been revoltingly hot and humid here. So I have a headache. No surprises there. urgh.

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2024 20:48

Evening wenches.

Back still sore but not as sore. Woe etc.

I’m assuming it barely rained elsewhere because I think we had all of it today.

Oh MrApricot for goodness sake. Hope his eye isn’t sore.

Grin at enjoying the film more because of KB’s smaller moustache.

Cake was a simple sponge cake with jam and buttercream filling. Flipping delicious too.

Going to show my mum the blanket I’ve made but no one else in the family will get to see it before Christmas. I’m hoping for happy tears from niece and possibly sister. I think that makes me sort of vain but I don’t care Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2024 20:53

If there are no happy tears, I volunteer to turn up with a pokey stick until they produce 'happy' tears Grin

FancyFancy · 02/09/2024 22:29

I missed the bit about your anniversary - happy anniversary letus 🥂

😁 At the smaller moustache and screaming at a shrimp sandwich ww . Sounds perfectly reasonable, although I do have form for excitedly texting DD from the supermarket on spotting my first jar of Marmite for months during The Covid Lockdown Marmite Shortage of 2020.

I hope MrA's eye isn't too painful apricot?

Similar nasty weather here too Helen , warm humid and a constant drizzle.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2024 07:23

Morning wenches.

We could put tinsel on one end to make the pokey stick festive Helen Grin

I do similar Fancy when I find something in a shop that NiceColleague’s been looking for but she’s not been able to find for ages. And thank you all for the anniversary wishes.

Not sure what the weather has in store for us today. I can see blue sky but can’t say more than that.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2024 07:38

Morning. We have rain, because I'm taking DS on his 'dry run' (ironic) for navigating the buses to college.

I like the idea of a festive poking stick Grin Also, I got v. excited in the cash and carry yesterday at the display of biscoff spread in bulk! Grin
Must crack on. though it's ok if we're late, because there's no actual college today - just shopping to be done.

ApricotCrush · 03/09/2024 17:00

Afternoon. Rain this morning but it’s lovely now. It would be nice if it lasted until tomorrow.

Hope the ‘dry run’ went well Helen. DGS had his first day today. Very nervous but apparently had a good day. It seems strange not doing the school run any more. I’ve been doing grandchild-minding of one sort or another for 17 years and I can’t say I’m sorry it’s over, although there’s still the school holidays. Hmm

DH’s eye is alright, although I actually considered making it worse earlier. We had to take his car in for MOT and he has to tell me how to drive, where to drive, where the potholes are etc. in my own car. I got out in the end and told him to drive. It makes me a nervous wreck. Anyway, the car passed.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2024 19:50

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for good first day for DGS Apricot. DS2’s was “fine”.

That’s incredibly aggravating of MrApricot. Well done at getting out and telling him to crack on. Mine’s in for MOT and service in a few days.

Hope the dry run went without a hitch for MiniHelen.

Work was blah and traffic was horrid.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2024 22:18

Dry run went fine, but now I have an upset stomach (those aren't related) Woe... Sad

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/09/2024 07:25

Morning all. I'm relieved to say that I feel better this morning, though still a bit wobbly.

DH is also guilty of the 'telling me how to drive' thing. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt sometimes - he's trying to be helpful. etc, but arghhhhhh. Well done for not just turfing him out of the car Apricot!

Weather is broken cloud with hints of sun. So dry, anyway.

Have a good day all - hope that work and traffic are better today LetUs

LetUsPrey · 04/09/2024 07:29

Morning wenches.

Poor you Helen with the upset stomach. Pleased you feel better though. And hurrah for successful journey try out.

It is apparently dry today so I’ve just put a wash out. Thrillz.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 04/09/2024 16:55

Afternoon. Last week the weather forecast for all this week was full sun and 24 degrees. I haven't seen any of that, it was 14 degrees when I got up. I did a wash load and it just hung there and isn't completely dry now.

Apart from that I've done some ironing and knitted. That's it really.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/09/2024 20:14

Evening. I have worked. There was much swearing at 'Urgent' requests from people who provided the wrong information for their 'urgent' request on several levels, leaving me and a colleague to sort the mess out. At least I have a colleague to share the job-specific pain now. Grin

Weather's been a bit 'meh' here - was actually raining a bit when I left work.

LetUsPrey · 04/09/2024 21:33

Evening wenches.

Urgent requests but with wrong information? More than once? Didn’t spot you in my office today Helen.

I put the washing out with the promise of a dry day. By mid-morning it was throwing it down at work so the washing probably got an extra rinse at home.

Ironing and knitting sounds lovely, even the ironing (sort of) Grin

Have been watching Paralympics and tennis this evening.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/09/2024 21:38

Paralympic tennis was v. impressive. To be fair, most of the paralympics are very impressive (if slightly baffling - fencing!)

Have just cut DS' hair. He wants his hair different, but he's not sure how. Hmm He's stuck with his usual cut until he decides what he wants.

LetUsPrey · 05/09/2024 07:05

Morning wenches.

I go nowhere near hair cutting. Tried it years ago and it’s not happening again.

Day off today as car in for service and MOT. Can get a lift home but not sure about getting back. Might be a two buses situation and guessing when it’s ready! Could get a taxi I suppose. Or it might be okay and I can get a lift. Such an exciting day!

Will hopefully at least get some washing done and our bed stripped. More excitement Grin

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/09/2024 07:31

Careful stripping the bed LetUs - you wouldn't want to tip out any hibernating HBFs and hurt them as they hit the floor. <adds examples of what to look out for>

We have sunshine here, which is nice.

No plans today - work, tidying, chucking spiders out of the house (it's autumn, there was a monster one in the bath last night, looking for its winter home)

Best get cracking...

ApricotCrush · 05/09/2024 15:28

Afternoon. Miserable day, cloudy and cold. It’s supposed to be hot and sunny tomorrow. I’ll believe it when I see it, but I’ll get the washing machine ready in case.

<snort> at hibernating HBFs.

Hope you sorted the car logistics LetUs.

LetUsPrey · 05/09/2024 19:28

Evening wenches.

Didn’t find any HBFs because I completely forgot about stripping the bed. What a muppet. Otherwise who knows?

Ended up getting a lift back earlier than necessary as LittleSis had a meeting she needed to be back for. Good news is that I took the opportunity to take a book with me so sat and read that as I waited. Also no access to snacks. Car passed and is fully serviced <oooo matron> and is lovely and clean. Just as well BestFriend and I decided not to get tickets for a festival we were interested in last month because I think I’ve spent the equivalent of the ticket on my car this last week.

Have picked up a piece of complicated knitting that I’ve been ignoring and have made some good headway with it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/09/2024 22:42

Evening all. How is it pushing 11pm again already? Urgh.

Well done on the complicated knitting LetUs. I've done nothing but work and taxi-ing, and some cooking. It's been quite warm though (or I've been a bit hot flushy). Now I shall do a sudoku rather than go to bed at a sensible time Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/09/2024 07:26

Morning wenches. It's nice and sunny out there - very mellow. I must stop with the stupid late bedtimes though. <opens new box of matchsticks>

Hope everywench has a good day with nice colleagues, easy traffic and no stress (and sunshine)!

LetUsPrey · 06/09/2024 07:36

Morning wenches.

Well it’s sunny and I’ll have one nice colleague so I’ll take that Grin

Am out tonight with LittleSis at the theatre watching an Agatha Christie. Quite excited about it!

Have lovely days wenches.
