This is regarding the previous post regarding the Snag brand selling patches that promote choking. But of course we aren't allowed to be uncomfortable with it as women without being branded bullies etc. Disappointed is putting it lightly after being a loyal Snag customer from their first year. But I guess my experience as an abuse survivor is not valuable because kinks are being shamed, to heck with mine or any other abused people's discomfort with such wording. As expected the usual "kinks rule" brigade are out in force to shout down anyone with any genuine concerns. Not great Snag, not great..

@Bibbidybobbidyroo
You do realise that by being on Mumsnet and actually commenting on posts, you will automatically be seen as a ‘flounder’ and will have sold your soul for a pair of M+S knickers. 😂😂😂

I don’t really care? I buy from Better!

BatteryPowerGnat · 22/01/2024 18:36

WolfFoxHare · 22/01/2024 15:44

FFS! Some kinks should be shamed. You can’t consent to being strangled. I also think it’s a particularly unwise thing for a tights company to be condoning considering the number of women murder victims who are strangled with tights. Piss poor optics.

Maybe Snag hope that women get strangled by their brand of tights.
Never bought from Snag, never will, they are too weird.

BarbieDangerous · 22/01/2024 18:38

sprigatito · 22/01/2024 15:53

I think most women probably find normalising strangulation to be a bit more offensive than insulting a religious figure.

How is it normalising strangulation? You cannot find these items on their normal website, this is specifically on their NSFW site. No one is saying, ‘hey you, yes you, woman over there, you need to love being choked during sex so you must buy this.’

Do you know that many people like to be choked during sex whether you like it or not? Do you go on Love Honey and get offended on some of the things there that are for a specific target audience? The response to this is extremely weird

fewgoo · 22/01/2024 18:39

Sorry dropped my phone!

But yes astonishingly.

The promotion of sexual practices which are dangerous for women (anal, choking) isn't something you would think a company selling tights would need to get involved with.

Anything which feeds into the toxic dating environment my daughter will soon encounter is the thing which will piss me off first.

Toxic dating environment? If she wants to be into BDSM, she will

You think BDSM at 15/16 is a healthy choice?

Confused

That is funny!

StragglyTinsel · 22/01/2024 18:57

@Pr0fessionalLurker that comment has so much. Starts with an admission that she’s not even looked at MN in a decade (so it’s basically all just assumptions) and then goes on to promote predatory pyramid schemes MLM. 🙄

Of course not. I should have said, ‘if she eventually wants to be into BDSM then she will be.’ Patches on a NSFW website isn’t really going to impact that however you have a right to be pissed off with whatever you see fit

I do like their tights and have bought many pairs over the years but will not do so again. The owner sounds like the worst type of be kind nightmare with her posts about Mumsnet and TERFs.

If she’s reading this, personally over the past decade Mumsnets boards and posters have helped me to stick at breastfeeding with the sage and kind advice I’ve had on here. Helped me through struggles with my teenager. Once in the middle of the night when I was alone and in a strange hotel and scared about the man in the room next to me. Helped me with a delicate financial issue I needed quick advice on. I’ve seen women in abusive relationships post on here and receive support and practical advice that has helped them get out of awful situations. There is a whole community on here of smart kind and funny women supporting women, who recognise woke misogyny like the type Brie and Snag espouse, and I feel deeply sad for Brie and her friends and fans with their warped, intolerant beliefs.

This.

Mumsnet has saved me in many ways since becoming a mum 16 years ago.

I am a previous repeat customer of Snag - they’ve now lost my business. Shame because I liked their tights (but not their weird website) 😂

forgivingfiggy · 22/01/2024 19:08

Also let's not forget the plea of 2020 to save her business by bulk buying tights. How many of us stepped in then?

BatteryPowerGnat · 22/01/2024 19:10

Snag are too coool for skoool. We're so racy, so out there...
What a bunch of obnoxious idiots they are. I hope Mumsnet sue the backside off them.
I can't believe they encourage and endorse the most dangerous sexual activity, particularly dangerous for women.

Good evening Brie, nice of you to join us 😂

LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow · 22/01/2024 19:18

I love the name Brie.

WolfFoxHare · 22/01/2024 19:19

Is this the place where feminism goes to die? Where women are shamed for the choices they make? For consenting? For using their own bodily autonomy?

Not all choices are good choices. It’s fine to say this. It’s fine to point out that some choices are dangerous or stupid or misogynistic or damaging. It’s fine not to want them shoved down our throats by a tights company. Just because feminism promotes choice for women doesn’t mean that any choice a woman makes is feminist. Some choices, some ‘kinks’, should be shamed.

StragglyTinsel · 22/01/2024 19:21

Ah it’s the sex positive, choice feminism contingent here to tell us how stuffy and old we are.

pickledandpuzzled · 22/01/2024 19:22

Nope, Violet. We all stepped in to buy vouchers during Covid.

We’re highlighting that Snag have decided they don’t want to sell to Mumsnetters and think we are all toxic and are happy to say so at length and repeatedly on Facebook- because someone raised a question about whether they should be selling stuff that celebrates a very dangerous practice that leaves women dead and injured. #we can’t consent to that.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 22/01/2024 19:25

No thanks. I bought their tights years ago when they started but shape, feel and quality weren't great so they got chucked. After seeing this virtue signalling wokeathon of ads Snag can go to hell. Wonder what kind of money overweight men bring in to their business.

Jeevesnotwooster · 22/01/2024 19:27

It's kind of staggering that Snag are happy to alienate such a large group of potential customers by those Facebook comments, which go far beyond justification.

Mytholmroyd · 22/01/2024 19:27

Get over yourselves, you absolute bunch of middle-class, curtain twitchers
😂
Isn't the point being made to be accepting of different views/adult choices? As others have said, slagging off the whole of Mumsnet to look edgy because some people on here disagree with some fetishes (which they are free to do - we all have hard limits) is hardly accepting of different viewpoints, the supportive forum it is off the main confrontational corners or a good business strategy given the size of the site.

I bought from snag and bought gift vouchers as presents for friends and family as it was a Scottish start-up and body positive. But I'm out if they are going to call me names.

everygreensock · 22/01/2024 19:31

Does anyone know of any good tights that are like Snag but don't promote violence against women?

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 22/01/2024 19:34

Good god, that FB comments section/thread.

I did! I even sent several emails wishing them well and thanking them for their amazing products. My whole family started buying from them too because of me recommending them, my own daughter now has many of their tights too at the age of 11. I'm so disappointed by their attitude on FB and blinkered approach to handling this. Very disheartening after so many years of love for this company. Inclusive seems to only matter if you exclude a large group of customers.
