Morning wenches.

Slightly better sleep which helps a great deal. As would being thoroughly looked after as suggested by Helen.

I kept my bite covered with an old fashioned crepe bandage at night so it didn’t burst. Yours sounds way worse though.

I tell both the DC they’ll always be my baby. DS1 indulges me with a hug and a smile, DS2 glares and then ignores Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/10/2023 07:49

Morning all. Chilly with hazy cloud here.

<arf> at reactions from DS1&2 - I get both of those from DS, depending on his mood at the time.

The bite has, I hope, crusted over again. I bodged some weird contraption of wadded loo roll either side of it, and slapped a plaster on top to keep it simultaneously covered, and aired. I'm not taking it off to check.

IdiotKitty apparently put a mouse under the freezer last night. (I have hazy recollections of DH telling me all about it around midnight.) I'm leaving it to him to sort out a cat-proof mousetrap. (And putting that here as a reminder for me to sort it out tonight.)

Have a good day all...

ApricotCrush · 04/10/2023 16:23

Afternoon. Mostly cloudy here, but not cold. I’m looking forward to the mini heatwave at the weekend.

Even when they’re middle-aged, they’re still our babies LetUs. Smile

Hope the bite is getting better Helen. Sounds awful. Eeeek at mouse. Shock

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/10/2023 21:22

Evening. It's been warm today - if you're in the sun and out of the breeze. If not, it's been cool. Definitely chilly this morning when I fed the chickens. (Must remember to set up the mousetrap.)

I made the mistake of checking the insect bite just now - took the plaster off and pulled the crust off with it. FFS - square 1, again. Germolene ahoy. At least I'm WFH tomorrow so I can let it air in all its ickness, without grossing anyone out.
<pages Dr Athos>

The mini-heat wave will be a nice last hurrah for the summer this weekend. If unseasonal.

LetUsPrey · 04/10/2023 21:43

Evening wenches.

DON’T FORGET THE MOUSETRAP HELEN

Looking forward to getting lots of washing done on Saturday. Rocknroll.

Been to see DS1 tonight in his new house. It’s very nice and will hopefully be a much easier commute for him. I think they’re going to be very happy.

Road closed on the way back home though and I’m shattered.

LetUsPrey · 05/10/2023 07:27

Morning wenches.

Not sure what the weather’s doing because it’s so pissing dark. Oh hang on, it’s raining. A lot.

DH off today as he’s taking DS2 to an appointment. I haven’t been to this particular town for ages. Where do I park? Well I parked such a place last time (about 18 years ago - and it’s changed a bit since then). So do I go to that place?

Also have asked him to go over to the school to take no longer needed uniform and some books. Whereabouts do I go? How do I get in if the main gates are closed? Is the reception clearly signposted? Have gone through it all and then he asks me again. Fucksake.

Not keen on this work lark today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2023 09:41

Wurble. Am shattered - mostly self inflicted because I was reading a good book until midnight. But then I couldn't get to sleep until about 2am. DH woke me up with his snoring at 6:20. I packed DS off to school then fell asleep on a chair downstairs with IdiotKitty flaked out on me (until he overheated and poured himself onto the floor).

So. Matchsticks required today, and an early night tonight.

The problem is LetUs, that you're just get stuff done without a fuss so DH things that you just know all this stuff and doesn't realise that most of life is a live action demonstration of either I'll turn up and just work it out or I've googled the shit out of this first so I know what I'm doing. He just thinks that you know it, so he asks you and doesn't know that the internet and google street view exists for parking questions <le enormous sigh, etc>

Also, FancyDad is making progress and Fancy has managed not to kill anyone yet.

Also, also - mousetrap is set, baited and remains unsprung overnight. KillerKitty may have resolved the situation himself, but who knows...

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 05/10/2023 17:26

Afternoon. Looks quite nice out but I haven’t been out except to bring the bin in. I’ve been mainly doing admin stuff and knitting.

Aw, hope DS1 will be very happy LetUs. Sadly our DS is going through an acrimonious relationship break-up at the moment and he’s staying with us until their house can be sorted out.

Glad FancyDad is making progress.

Got my copy of Strike today, yay 😀

LetUsPrey · 05/10/2023 19:34

Evening wenches.

DH was a big brave boy and managed to take DS2 to his appointment and took the stuff round to school. Even though he’d forgotten about the school stuff until I’d phoned about something else and mentioned it in passing. Then he got a bit shirty about how he might not have time (the whole thing would be less than 10 minutes) and that I shouldn’t be planning his day off. I got shirty back and said he’d been doing this to me for years when I did four days, or on my early finish or when I have a day off. He denied this and hung up on me. So that was a fun run up to getting to work.

<squidge> to you Apricot. You can never tell how things will go and can only hope for the best for them I suppose. I should try and get on with some knitting but I can’t seem to get going with it tonight.

<throws blanket and Athos over Helen>

Going to try local bookshop again at the weekend for my copy Wicked.

<puts a bottle of pink in the fridge for Fancy as it might be needed>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2023 20:56

Evening.

Oh God LetUs - the "I won't have time" line. FMAL. Have some Wine and Gin

<cwtch> re. DS apricot - having unhappy DCs is horrible.

Hurrah for books though (I've still not got it either).

LetUsPrey · 06/10/2023 07:31

Morning wenches.

I was having a Gin as I read your message Helen (which I should say was last night and not this morning). And yes, he did do a lot in the house and stuff yesterday but so do I - I just don’t catalogue it all in a speech.

Friday at last. Chucking it down and the sunshine which was forecast for tomorrow has gone. I’d like it back please because the beds have been changed and I’d made washing plans.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/10/2023 07:55

Morning all. It's fluffy dressing gown weather so IdiotKitty is cured up on me, purring his little heart out and drooling. We have cloud and a breeze. I don't know what the actual forecast is, but the washing is on, regardless.

An exciting Hmm day of spreadsheets awaits me...

ApricotCrush · 06/10/2023 17:04

Afternoon. It’s a bit miserable today, I can’t believe it’s going to be hot and sunny tomorrow as forecast.

I went to Dunelm with DD this morning to have a mooch, didn’t buy anything. Rather disappointed with their wool, much depleted from when I last went in. Also the wool shop which I rediscovered a few weeks ago is now closing down so there’s nowhere local where I can actually look at what I’m buying.Sad

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 06/10/2023 21:18

Evening wenches.

<squeeee> at IdiotKitty snuggling and purring.

Traffic traffic and more traffic. And I’m tired and grumpy and I’ve got a headache <grumps>

Lots of rain today. The weather had better behave itself tomorrow.

That’s such a shame about the wool shop Apricot. It is preferable to see the wool in person so to speak. Our local fabric shop went earlier this year. Excellent value for ribbons and buttons for my knitting and BigSis said it was very good for the actual fabrics too. My local wool place is a bit on the pricey side for the ribbons and buttons, although very good for the yarn.

I’m having a drink and then I’m going to bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/10/2023 22:13

Evening all. It turned out to be a really good drying day today - breezy and sunshine. Which was unfortunate since the washing pole had rotted through at the base and fell over while I was hanging everything out. The house is draped in damp washing, and we know what we're doing this weekend now. Hmm

Work was full of argh.

What a shame about your wool shop Apricot Sad

LetUsPrey · 07/10/2023 08:15

Morning wenches.

Wash already out, just hanging damply on the line. Urgh at collapsing prop Helen.

Things to do today so I’m not doing any of them.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/10/2023 09:56

Things to do today so I’m not doing any of them. Yep.

MUST finish that duvet cover. I sewed half the buttons on last night, so I can do the rest today, AND the buttonholes. It sounds so easy, if only I could kick myself up the arse and get going... <le sigh>

FancyFancy · 07/10/2023 16:00

Am back home - yay! Even made it into the office yesterday. FancyDad is back home from yesterday. He's made really good progress & is already feeling quite good going up & down stairs. Speech still an issue but getting better. We need to see how the next few days go to work out whether stepmum is going to help or hinder his speech therapy. She never did have any patience & her corrections are too sharp. She keeps telling him not to point ffs - he needs to point at times as it helps with the communication.

Thanks for all the good wishes wenches & apologies for all the moaning!

Muse were fab of course - shame to be seated and miles away from the drool-worthy bassist and not in with the crowd jumping around in the standing area, but was still a great night out with big sis 😊

ApricotCrush · 07/10/2023 16:27

Afternoon. Well, not the day the weather app predicted. Angry It's been cloudy all day and although it's pleasantly warm, not the heatwave expected. The washing hasn't dried completely either and is currently in the tumbler.

So many craft shops going LetUs. Sad People don't seem interested in making things these days which is a shame as it's so rewarding.

How annoying about the washing line pole Helen, hope you've managed to sort it.

Shame you weren't any nearer Fancy, but at least you enjoyed it. Good that your Dad is recovering.

LetUsPrey · 07/10/2023 18:49

Evening wenches.

Glad you enjoyed it Fancy. They were excellent. BestFriend and I are starting to eye up the seating section when we’re booking tickets. And that’s super news re FancyDad.

Hope you made progress with the duvet cover Helen.

Exactly Apricot. And you need to see the stuff in person I think.

Did a few bits and pieces, plenty of washing. Still feeling blah.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/10/2023 09:06

Morning all. FLM - what happened to the post I did yesterday afternoon? I started a new thread for us. FFS.

NEW THREAD!!

DH has finally noticed my hair - last night, because I was standing directly in front of him at a gig and was pulling my hair back into a stubby ponytail because it was so hot in the venue. So that was 6 days.

Insect bite finally dried up a couple of days ago, but looks like someone put a cigarette out on my leg Confused. Weirdly, I've had a couple more mozzie bites and they've blistered to, though not as badly as the one I've been whinging about.

Duvet was also finished yesterday - hurrah!

Also, other things that were in my missing post - hurrah for FancyDad being home, hope that MrA's shoulder is improving, and I don't know what happened to this '25 degree heatwave' we were having this weekend, but it's not arrived here.

LetUsPrey · 08/10/2023 09:24

Morning wenches.

No heatwave here either. Just pleasant but weirdly warm for October.

I said a week for the hair Helen so I wasn’t far off. Good that the bite’s finally dried up.

Today will be usual Sunday activities.
