Morning wenches.

We’ve only done the first two episodes of that. Must get a move on with it.

Throwing it down here, has been for hours. I think DS2 will be needing his coat today for the walk home!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/09/2023 10:15

Morning all.

It's not throwing it down here (though it is cool and cloudy - hurrah!) so I have put on some washing to hurry the rain along the way. It will start raining as soon as the washing machine is finished, because the contents of the machine includes something DH needs for tonight, which can't go through the tumble drier Grin

ApricotCrush · 12/09/2023 16:13

Afternoon. Raining on and off all day. Back to normal then. Hmm

I haven’t been able to knit in the hot weather but I’ve picked it up again.

We haven’t got round to the Woman in the Wall yet.

Hope Helen got the untumbleable item dry and LetUsDS2 didn’t get wet on the walk home.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 12/09/2023 19:34

Evening wenches.

Rain, then not rain, then rain.

That’s a big bonus of the weather turning cooler Apricot - being able to knit without sticking to it.

Did MrHelen end up with having to have slightly damp clothing?

DS2 I think managed to get one of the “not rain” periods for his walk home.

I was yawning away at work this afternoon so I think an early night is needed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/09/2023 21:02

Evening. The rain arrived this afternoon, just as I was thinking about getting the washing in. So it all got a bit damper and is draped around the house. DH's stuff is dry, but then it's been so wet he decided to wear something else anyway Hmm

DS got home in slightly lighter spell of rain between heavier downpours. I went out to meet him, slipped in the mud on the road and absolutely coated my foot in it. Yuck.

Hope that Fancy has had an uneventful trip to see FancyDad.

FancyFancy · 12/09/2023 21:02

Am up at parent's house, visited FancyDad this afternoon. Still no real progress, but was good to see him - speech very variable, sometimes makes a lot of sense, other times not, did see the speech therapist who was very nice and informative.

LetUsPrey · 13/09/2023 07:28

Morning wenches.

<squidge> Fancy. Nothing constructive to say but lots of good wishes being thrown in your direction.

Massive side eyes at MrHelen.

Bright this morning which makes a change after the last few days. Wednesday so a short day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/09/2023 07:49

Morning all. We have the rain (still), 2.5 cm since it started.

DH did take the washed stuff with him <removes side-eyes from him> and said that the driving conditions were horrendous last night due to the amount of standing water.

Last night's late-night excitement was a catfight outside just as I'd shoved IdiotKitty out of the kitchen window (he's only allowed up on the windowsill if he actually goes out, but he'd already been up there and refused to go out.) DS and I went out in raincoats and torches and got drenched trying to find him. Eventually came to the conclusion that he'd won the fight and chased the cat away, so we squelched and dripped out way back indoors and hung out coats up to drip-dry. Very soggy IdiotKitty then came in through the catflap, still on an adrenaline high and had a long grooming session to dry off. This morning he has asserted his supremacy by climbing to the top of one of the apple trees and mewing piteously at me. Idiot. (He got himself down without any help.)

Continuing <cwtch> for Fancy, have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 13/09/2023 16:57

Afternoon. Nice day. I tried to sit outside but it was a bit too chilly when the sun went in.

It’s early days Fancy <hugs> My Mum had a stroke and her speech was fine but she thought that I was her deceased sister for three months, so we had some very strange conversations. She sorted it out eventually but she was in her 90s.

Love the adventures of IdiotKitty.

Mostly work here, nothing exciting happens.

It's more "exciting" though in nearby bigger city where there apparently is some kind of gang war going on with shootings etc. They also managed to shoot someone totally innocent. There's also gang shootings going on in other cities and because the police have to mostly deal with that there's no resources to investigate all the other crimes going on Angry

Had som friends over for fika on Sunday and they gave me two plants to kill Confused

Hugs for Fancy

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/09/2023 18:47

<arf> at 'plants to kill' - I feel like that about mine sometimes too. Dad has resorted to giving me succulents after I killed the last Christmas Cactus because apparently they're very happy to be ignored and not watered much. They're not dead yet...

I took a coat to work today, which made sure that we had no rain. I also wore sensible wet-weather shoes which aren't that comfy any more, after a year of WFH in slippers/bare feet. We had a lunchtime walk and the soles of my feet feel a bit pulverised. Also had a post-lunch meeting - dooooooooooom. It's the graveyard slot and it's soooo hard to stay awake!

Hope everyone's had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 13/09/2023 20:10

Evening wenches.

It all sounds scarily familiar Wicked. The “plants to kill” also sounds familiar. DS1 had a cactus plant which he managed to see off. Like mother, like son.

Love the sound of IdiotKitty being all proud of himself.

Good to hear reassuring recovery stories Apricot.

Had a rubbish day at work and despite the early finish got nothing other than washing and washing up done since I got home.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/09/2023 21:56

Oh LetUs Sad <cwtch> The HBFs have volunteered to help do things <tae/ylt>

Morning wenches.

Oh Helen <sniffle> that’s so thoughtful <sniffle> and kind. Thank you

Raining again. Don’t really mind tbh.

Off to visit parents tonight. It’s a BIG wedding anniversary today. Strict orders for no party or fuss so we’ve risked it ordered a cake and children and grandchildren will go round for cups of tea. It’s not really a fuss, just family popping round. All at the same time.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/09/2023 07:34

Coordinated 'popping'<nae> - I like your plan LetUs Grin
It's high cloud and sunny here, with a chill - I can still do the chickens in shorts/vert top and crocs - but I need a fleece on top now. Autumn is a coming in, gone is the cuckoo, etc.

Have a good day all.

FancyFancy · 14/09/2023 11:19

Nothing further to report really, still juggling work and parents. A client is having a crisis too, so lots of phone calls.

That sounds scary ww 😯

<cwtches> letus, hope today is better and that the non-fussy popping in goes ok

Thanks apricot, plus your mum sounded awesome!

Shorts Helen?! <shivers>

ApricotCrush · 14/09/2023 16:35

Afternoon. Rain all day here, so I’ve been mostly knitting which isn’t always easy when you’re a cat bed. Hmm

That does sound scary WW. Grin at ‘plants to kill’.

Happy Big Anniversary to LetUsParents.

Yes, shorts Helen??

My Mum was awesome Fancy. We lost my Dad when she was 46 and she was a ‘ten shilling widow’, 50p in today’s money. I was at college at the time but I finished my course and we both had to get jobs to pay the bills. It was the making of her though, she loved her job and was devastated when she had to retire at 60. She was 97 when she died, having lived almost twice as long as my Dad. Sad Hope your Dad recovers soon.

Evening wenches.

Tiiiirrrrreeeddddddd.

DH is still wearing shorts, and not just when he goes out running.

What a wonderful description of your mum Apricot. She sounds like she was a lovely, strong person.

Crikey Fancy, everything happening all at once <squidge>

Lovely evening with mum and dad and everybody. They enjoyed it with children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. And there was cake so hurrah!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/09/2023 21:21

Awww. Glad you had a good time LetUs. And your Mum sounds fab Apricot. <cwtch> to Fancy - hope the client crisis has been resolved - shite timing as ever Sad. Wicked - stay out of BiggerCity Confused

I'm not sure what I've done today (lots of bitty jobs) and it feels like I've wasted a lot of time faffing about online <is grumpy with self>. Tomorrow I will do less faffing. <Gazes into distance, Scarlett O'Hara style>

LetUsPrey · 15/09/2023 07:29

Morning wenches.

Time spent faffing around online is a valuable way of relaxing Helen. Mindful even.

Friday. Dull and cloudy but doesn’t appear to be raining at the moment. Going to try have a mammoth tidy up over the weekend. It’s all getting a bit much.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/09/2023 08:01

Morning all. It's sunny and autumnal here (still in shorts though - clearly my menopausal central heating has benefits!)

DS freaked himself out last night - we had RAF fighter planes overhead being hellish noisy, so he leaned on the window to pull them completely shut. Then a bit later saw his handprint on the glass as if someone had been outside looking in Shock. I laughed nonchalantly and pretended I wasn't freaked out slightly by the concept - classic horror trope! Then I cleaned it off to avoid further freak-outs Grin

ApricotCrush · 15/09/2023 17:10

Afternoon. Sunny day and I’m a bit annoyed I hadn’t got enough washing to fill the machine.

Lol at horror movie at ChezHelen.

It’s DGS’s birthday, he’s officially a teenager. Shock Where have the years gone? He’s having a few friends round for a takeaway McDonald’s apparently and we’ll be popping over to see him.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 15/09/2023 19:13

Evening wenches.

Happy birthday to TeenApricotDGS! He shares it with the Queen of Crime herself, Dame Agatha Christie. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to know that Grin

I scared DS1 the other night Helen. I’d reminded him to properly close his bedroom window (next to a flat roof and there’s been a few break ins hereabouts) before he went to sleep. I was in bed, got up for the loo and thought I’ll just check he’s shut the window. He hadn’t so I leaned over the bottom of the bed to do that. He woke up, in the dark, and saw a figure near the window, leaning over his bed and started making a weird shouty noise. He eventually realised it was me. He said the next day he thought someone had climbed in and he was about to be attacked! We laugh about it now.

I am properly knackered and will definitely get an early night. Sleeping beyond 5am might also help.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/09/2023 22:50

<arf> at inadvertent horror film efforts. Grin
DS has been Star Wars-ing at me all night. DH has been out, and I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiired. So I should go to bed.

Shock at DGC's hitting teenage years.
<watches time whooshing past at a rate of knots>

LetUsPrey · 16/09/2023 09:00

Morning wenches.

Sunny here and supposed to be breezy so the wash is out already.

Some tidying to do and then I’ve got knitting to catch up with.
