Morning Afternoon all. I have been out for an impromptu sailing taster session. It was great fun, though a bit more wind would have been handy. Am contemplating doing more, though right now there's the houseworky stuff to do. Beat still my beating heart etc.

ApricotCrush · 30/09/2023 16:42

Afternoon. Grey day here, with occasional showers.

Ooo at sailing session Helen. DH and his mate had a sailing dinghy when they were young. This came after the infamous canoe. They were the best in the club at getting it back up and sailing it dry as they capsized it so often. They spent more time out of it than in it. You wouldn't have got me anywhere near it.

Glad you enjoyed the gig LetUs and good luck with the organising.

Started reading this post Grin I'm stuck on a boat and I need a poo | Mumsnet

I will get the book at the end of next week hopefully Helen Smile

Nice landladies had us tenants over for tapas and wine yesterday and I even got a plate of leftovers today. Bloody brilliant! Smile

Glad you had a good time Letus Smile

Genuinely. I've nc for this 😳 I'm on my friends boat and the etiquette is to just have a wee, but I've been told the poo procedure and...

LetUsPrey · 30/09/2023 19:35

Evening wenches.

I’ll have a read of that later Wicked. I love your landladies! (I also love tapas)

Got the new Richard Osman this morning and Natalie Haynes. It’s got sprayed edges and is signed - squeeeee! Sold out of the new Strike so I’ll try again next weekend.

Oooo with the sailing lesson Helen! I can just picture you looking just right on a boat.

I love your stories of MrApricot’s past activities Grin

FancyFancy · 30/09/2023 20:03

Afternoon
Am back home for the weekend - and for Muse tomorrow, yay! Have spent most of the afternoon in bed with a horrible nauseous headache, I've never had one quite that bad before.

Thanks for all the good wishes for FancyDad. He has made good progress this week with the physios and his speech is making some small improvements. When we visited on Thursday he was in very good spirits. Conversations still require guesswork in places, but he is embracing the need for pointing to props and even some mime, so we managed to talk about quite a variety of things and had a few chuckles along the way.

Stepmum remains difficult - FancySis had an interesting chat yesterday with a woman who has been helping my parents out with things since before covid and who reckons that she exaggerates to us her inability to cope. All the more interesting as this week she did a few things that, if I'm not being overly suspicious, looked designed to show hospital staff how much she can do, but to us we get the tears and extreme forgetfulness and the panicked call to a neighbour when I went out for half an hour to the shops. Not to mention the transparent attempt to listen in to any of my phone calls if she thinks I'm discussing her or FancyDad.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/09/2023 21:52

Evening all. The manshapes are back from their day of sportingness. Dh has a headache and is grumpy. DS is feeling put-upon at being requested to help more. <le enormous sigh>

Am glad to say that the 'poo on a boat' thread is nothing to do with me Confused

Hope the headache has vamoosed Fancy. How odd re. Stepmum - why would you pretend to be useless to family? What point is there in that?! Glad to hear the FancyDad is making good progress.

No capsizing for us Apricot - the boats all that floats attached to the top of the mast, so they can't go right over. Not that there was enough wind for that today anyway.

Hurrah for new books and for Tapas!

FancyFancy · 30/09/2023 22:09

I think she doesn't like being on her own and that me and my sister, being female family (not really hers though) should provide company for her. Or that being Dad's daughters we are the ones who care the most about making sure he doesn't worry about her, so we are the easiest to manipulate. That must sound harsh, but some of her actions this week have gobsmacked me.

LetUsPrey · 01/10/2023 08:30

Morning wenches.

Not harsh Fancy. I understand what you mean. Hurrah for also going seeing Muse! I managed to get some photos and videos for you just in case you weren’t going. Thankfully you are because the stuff I took is a bit shit quality Grin Pleased that FancyDad continue to progress.

Oh dear at poor put upon MiniHelen. You know what mate, tough, get on with what you’re told.

All the rain here. Aim today is to sort through paperwork and make lists <nto> of stuff I still need to do <nlt>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/10/2023 12:06

Afternoon (just). We haven't had rain today, though some overnight. I need to get the slow cooker on for tea tonight, and then pick a job (probably apples, since some are starting to turn).

Something has eaten my leg overnight, so I need to put some cream on that and a paster because it either drew blood, or I've scratched it overnight to bleeding point. FFS. (I just absentmindedly rubbed it and took the scab off. FMInsectBites.)

Have a lovely time at Muse Fancy.

FancyFancy · 01/10/2023 12:09

Happy to see any Muse pics letus Grin

Ouch helen, hope the bite clears up soon <aims flamethrower at bitey fuckers>

LetUsPrey · 01/10/2023 14:25

Afternoon wenches.

<lobs copious amounts of AfterBite at Helen>

Just gone through the photos Fancy. Mostly videos and not great photos <FMphotographyskills>. This is the only half decent one. BestFriend is going again tonight. Hope you have a fabulous time.

ApricotCrush · 01/10/2023 17:17

Afternoon. Cloudy, but quite warm out. In fact warmer than in the house Confused

We had DS’s DC here today. DGD is fine, she just brings her homework to do but DGS2 is a lot bit of a nightmare.

I read the boat thread WW, sounded horrific. Your landladies are lovely.

No, not harsh at all Fancy, she does sound difficult. Enjoy the bassist Muse.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/10/2023 20:50

Evening all. My bite has now blistered up Confused and it was leaking earlier Confused. Mr Germolene will sort that out I hope.

That's a good photo LetUs - hope that Fancy gets a similar view.

LetUsPrey · 02/10/2023 07:49

Morning wenches.

I still find it weird for what of a better word how siblings can be so different Apricot, even when they’re same sex. Brains and stuff are weird.

Hope the germolene does the trick Helen.

Here’s hoping Fancy enjoyed Muse last night. Be difficult not to to be honest!

Not really ready for Monday. Rubbish sleep and weird dreams and a bit of the wibbly wobblies. Onwards etc though.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/10/2023 07:57

Morning all. Also rubbish sleep here. Hello 1am, hello 2am, hello 4am, etc etc.

DS has slouched out the door for school.

In the further adventures of IdiotKitty, he saw me open the window by the front door (to remind DS that I am picking him up from school), and instantly wanted to investigate the 'outside' that is accessible through that window. So up he hopped - stuck his head out of the window, froze, growled at the outside world and run half way upstairs in alarm. He eventually came back down and stuck his front paws up on the windowsill to make sure the 'terrifying invisible thing' had gone. Then hopped up and stood there lashing his tail at the world. I would love to know what on earth goes on in his mind. Grin

ApricotCrush · 02/10/2023 18:01

Afternoon. Grey and rather miserable here.

We went to fetch DGS earlier and all the blooming roads are closed again. Every road we tried was blocked and we had to go miles out of our way to get to the village. Grrrrr.

We swear by Germolene Helen, hope it’s helped the bite. Love IdiotKitty.

Also hope Fancy enjoyed Muse.

It’s daaaaaaark! 😱

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/10/2023 19:06

Evening all. Rainy rain rain here, with the odd rumble of thunder somewhere in a galaxy far far away

Wenches. I got bored of my hair and lopped off 8-10 inches last night (two bunches either side - chop/chop/snippety-snip), and have left it down since then. The manshapes have yet to notice. (DS in fairness had gone to bed by then, but he's not noticed today despite breakfast and then car journeys after school.) Should we open a book on how long it takes? Should I take another inch off for every day they don't notice? (Best not, I'm not after a pixie cut or doing a Picard tribute).

The insect bite is still wet, but the goo isn't actively running down my leg any more (ick!)

In other news, beloved freelance work customers have pulled a spectacular level of idiocy on me. (le sigh/le gritted teeth/le Hmm at how much money this is going to cost them for me to fix.)

FFS at closed roads Apricot Angry

LetUsPrey · 02/10/2023 21:03

Evening wenches.

It is getting noticeably darker Wicked. Don’t like it. Horrid thing.

Arf at IdiotKitty Grin I’m saying a week for the haircut to be noticed Helen, and then it might be “you look different, do you have new glasses”. <cbf> at the idiocy.

That’s epic levels of frustration there Apricot.

Cold and rainy today, although apparently Saturday is in the 20s and sunny. Might try for an early night.

LetUsPrey · 03/10/2023 07:39

Morning wenches.

Wet and dull here again. I had another epically shite night’s sleep and weird dreams when I did manage to sleep so feeling super ready for the day ahead.

Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/10/2023 09:30

Morning. Also wet here. I think we had about 1cm overnight, with a bit on thunder. Looks like we may be about to get more, judging by the clouds.
Today I am back and forth like a headless chicken - shuttling DH about due to car at garage (a different one), Dr appt, fitness thing, helping DF with stuff. At some point I may get some work done too.

<cwtch> for continuing crap nights sleep LetUs

Hair update - no comment still. They're either both playing a weird psychological game with me, or I'm just invisible.

Insect bite - ick still. Pharmacist says that there are no useful dressings that I could just leave on it while it heals up.

ApricotCrush · 03/10/2023 16:20

Afternoon. Nice day, lots of washing done.

Shock at cutting your hair Helen. DH does mine but I do sometimes tidy it up myself if it’s uneven. Grin at no-one noticing.

It is getting horribly dark in the evening and probably more so for you WW. It’s so depressing when the garden is dark when I’m cooking.

Hope you get a better night LetUs.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 03/10/2023 19:09

Got an email saying that my book would be late so that's a bit disappointing. But then I got an email saying it was dispatched and would arrive a day earlier than expected Grin

Grin at no one noticing your hair Helen

Letus

Hope everything is ok with FancyDad.

LetUsPrey · 03/10/2023 19:55

Evening wenches. Raaaaiiiinnnnn.

This lack of sleep is really getting to me <tiny violin>

I’d say there’s another few days before your hair is noticed Helen. Ick at bite. They are a nightmare.

Good news - eventually - re book Wicked. I need to get started with Divine Might as I’m going to a book festival thing about it next week.

DS1’s last night at home tonight as he and his girlfriend have got a place together. Feels a lot different from when he went to university. My baby (told you the lack of sleep was getting to me)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/10/2023 21:45

Awww LetUs - he's being proper grown up Confused Lack of sleep has nothing to do with it, he'll always be your baby. (DS is still my little boy, even though he towers over me now!)

Today - yes, bit of a blue-arsed fly. DH's car has had work done - and the intermittent fault kicked in as he was leaving the garage Hmm so that fix didn't fix it, and they can't tell what the problem is unless their computer is plugged in when it does it. <le sigh>

The insect bit dried up into a revolting crusty mess, but it was dried up by this evening - then I knocked it with the hem of my joggers and we're back to square one again; FFS and all that.

I need to wash my hair and get stuff ready for BoringOfficeJob
<continues to sit on the sofa>

LetUs- you need a warm bedtime drink and a nice comfy bed. Any maybe a hot bath too. Preferably accessorised with HBFs.
