Morning wenches.

We didn’t watch anything last night, not together any way, and I was in bed before 10.

Mismatching sounds perfect Helen.

Hopefully dry today as I’ve a wash washing away. DH can supervise it if it does rain.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/09/2023 08:11

Morning all. Washing! I need to do that too...

Sunny outside today. I've just put t some polish on a pair of DS shoes that he's grown out of, and can I find the brush now to give them a shine? <le sigh> How on earth has that managed to go astray? Maybe it took it's chance when I hauled everything out of the cupboard under the sink yesterday, and has made a break for some sort of shoe-brush nirvana.

Random things in my garden - an occasional series. One of the flower beds looks a bit flattened. On closer inspection, a deer has been holed up in it. #baffled. I mean, I know that it's quite overgrown and all, but we have much more sheltered spots in the garden that something could use for a little lie-down.

Oh well. Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 25/09/2023 16:24

Afternoon. Nice day but I didn’t have enough washing to make a load.

Did a food shop at Sainsbury’s this morning and a bit of knitting this afternoon. I keep suggesting to DH that we do something but he doesn’t seem keen. He’s happy to watch the golf if he can’t actually play it. We have DGS here now so that’s it for today.

Well done to MrLetUs. Star

How lovely to have a deer in the garden Helen even if the flower bed is squashed.

Evening wenches.

It all seems to be falling apart a bit at work. Folk getting upset and crying, and for a change one of them wasn’t me. The ones who work the hardest are being given even more work, some of which includes sorting out the shite left behind by others who have left. Turns out the sun didn’t shine out of their arses. If only someone - perhaps a couple of someones - had maybe mentioned that once or twice or a bazillion times.

I am imagining a shoe cleaning brush skittering about in the wild. Deer in the garden does sound quite sweet.

As long as you’re not getting a commentary Apricot from the golf.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/09/2023 21:15

Evening all. Have just finished Woman in the Wall - was very good.

Ah - yes. The brush. I asked DH if he'd seen it - blank look. It might be on his work bench but it was a bout 4 weeks ago that he used it. Reader, it was on his work bench, where he had left it. What the '4 weeks ago' has to do with anything, I don't know. It's not like it was going to have evolved legs and migrated elsewhere in the interim.

Works sounds very spectacularly shit LetUs - if the waste of space people have gone maybe they'll be replaced with more useful people? But urgh in the meantime with trying to clear up the mess that they left behind them. Sad

Hope that MrA is enjoying the golf and giving you some peace and quiet apricot

LetUsPrey · 26/09/2023 07:21

Morning wenches.

Unfortunately it seems that the three people who have left have been replaced by one person who let’s be generous and say is not a grafter.

Weird how the brush didn’t just make its own way back really Helen.

Looks dull and rubbish outside and that storm’s on its way.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2023 10:53

Morning all. Dull and grey start to the day, followed by dismal rain and general 'why did I bother getting out of bed' vibe. I started the working day with a hot chocolate. (Dear lord, my typing is awful - 6 typos in the first two lines with transposed letters. <goes back to fix post before posting>

It's a bit brighter, but still...

We have DS' last school photo back, and it's taken 5 years, but we actually have a decent one in high school uniform!

FYourRecruiters LetUs - it can't be that hard to employ competent people can it? My managers at Boring Office Job seem to achieve it. FFS. Angry

ApricotCrush · 26/09/2023 16:58

Afternoon. Quite a nice day, the storm’s due to hit here tomorrow afternoon. <battens down the hatches>

Yes I am getting a bit of a commentary about the golf, and the football and the rugby Hmm. He managed to mow the lawns this morning as it’s bin day tomorrow, but that hasn’t helped the whinging. He has an appointment at the doctor’s tomorrow to get some ibuprofen gel which has helped with situations like this in the past but it’s not with an actual doctor so I don’t know what’s going on there.

The situation at work sounds awful LetUs.

Why are school photos rubbish Helen, glad you got a good one.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 26/09/2023 19:30

Evening wenches.

School photos are indeed mysterious. No criticism of the photographers or anything, I really think the photos follow their own special laws. Annoyingly DS1 doesn’t ever seem to take a bad photo, except for the occasional school one back in the day.

Fuck knows where they find these people. I’d say they’re on a 30% success rate re decent employees and I’m being generous.

Oooo the whinging Apricot. Sympathy dwindles rapidly in connection with the increased level of whining.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2023 21:50

Evening all. Woe, and woe again with MrWenches. DH has to have a minor op on his arm, which means he'll be in a sling for 4 weeks [horror] He can't drive. I will have to be a nursemaid and put up with him whinging- be sympathetic. Emergency Athos will need to be on 24-hour standby. Plus, I'll be needing a padded, soundproofed cell to scream in. <Starts building extension to the Tav. I know I could probably re-purpose the dungeon, but I don't want to know what's down there. Possibly the Cardinal still. And accessories. <shudder>>

Hope all is improving with FancyDad still.

LetUsPrey · 27/09/2023 07:23

Morning wenches.

Many sympathies Helen. I agree that an extension to the Tav is the best idea. Perhaps also best to have Athos in there too. Oh - hope MrHelen is okay and won’t be in too much pain etc etc.

Bit dreary this morning and that storm’s on its way. <joins Apricot in the battening>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/09/2023 07:59

Morning all. Am running a bit late, but meh. Tie things down you say? Oh if we must....

(Hope the storm doesn't cause too much chaos)

ApricotCrush · 27/09/2023 17:20

Afternoon. Well, the storm seems to have passed us by. It went a bit dark earlier, we had a ten minute shower and it was a bit windy. Confused The sun’s out now. Storm in a teacup so to speak. Hope everyone else is alright.

DH went to see the trainee doctor this morning who was very good and DH has his ibuprofen gel. I then dragged him to an out of town retail park where we had a mooch around and didn’t get much. He hates shopping but at least we got out.

Oh dear, the DHs do seem to be in trouble. Hope MrHelen’s problem with his arm isn’t too bad.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 27/09/2023 19:15

Evening wenches.

<orders more rope>

Let’s hope the gel does the trick Apricot.

We have wind which is fairly making the fence panels rattle and it’s absolutely chucking it down.

Work was craaaaaapppppppp.

Hope FancyDad is doing okay.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/09/2023 22:37

Evening. Work was workish. DH has been out for a works night out, and DS has just found out about some homework that's due tomorrow.
I might just go to bed...

LetUsPrey · 28/09/2023 07:29

Morning wenches.

DS2 now has loads of spare time when he doesn’t have lessons at college. Does he does his homework at that those times? No, no he does not. Does he still leave it to the night before? Yes, yes he does.

Doesn’t appear to be any damage here from the winds so that’s fortunate. Everywhere looks quite soggy though.

Might as well stay in the Tav wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/09/2023 07:52

Morning all. Tiiiiiiiiiiiiired. etc. Was a bit breezy last night, but nothing spectacular (not much in the way of windfalls in the garden). Today's excitement involves taking a car to the garage.

ApricotCrush · 28/09/2023 16:57

Afternoon. Cloudy but no rain or wind here. I went into town this morning to get birthday cards for the rest of the year and other essentials.

Nothing else going on.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 28/09/2023 19:33

Evening wenches.

Tired and my eyes have been so itchy all day. Haven’t been sleeping particularly well either.

I should try and do that Apricot with the birthday cards. If I get to the card shop on Saturday (charity shop coming to collect something and I’ve no idea when), I’ll buy my rest of year cards.

I think I’ll try to get a bit of an earlier night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/09/2023 21:51

Evening all. Not much to report. DH's car is still ill, but with a mysterious ailment that only the dealership can diagnose Hmm He's trying a local specialist who isn't a dealer first, because the dealers just fleece you at the earliest opportunity.

Weather has been a bit cool and breezy, but not cold.

I'm heading for an early night too I hope. <steps over LetUs-shaped hump in the hayloft>

LetUsPrey · 29/09/2023 07:32

Morning wenches.

Early night seems to have helped a bit.

Poor MrHelen’s car.

Bit soggy here again but it’s Friday so hurrah for that. Out tonight with BestFriend straight after I get home from work. Going watching Muse - I shall give Fancy’s friend a wave!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/09/2023 07:41

Morning all. I'm going out this evening too, with WorkFriend who has inconsiderately left work and joined somewhere with a less crappy finance system. Rude of her really.

It's wet and dismal outside. bleurgh. Killer Kitty wants to kill something. Anything. Mostly me, because I'm indoors in the dry. And they're blasting away with shotguns outside. Maybe I could loan him out as a retriever. Oh - yesterday he had a rat. DS was home alone, and 'dealt with it' but lobbing rat and IdiotKitty onto the patio and leaving cupboard doors wide open where he'd got gloves on to pick up the rat. We came home to a rats head gazing accusingly up at us on the patio - I can't decide if we were mean to mount it on a wall or get Godfather vibes from it. (It went in the hedge anyway(

ApricotCrush · 29/09/2023 15:56

Afternoon. Lovely day after an awful night. I think I got less than four hours. Don’t know why really but once my mind starts going there’s no chance of sleep. Anyway I got the washing done and had a sit outside.

Bleugh at rat.

Hope you both have a lovely evening and Fancy and WW are alright.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/09/2023 23:20

Evening all. Worky-work, then fun evening out with WorkFriend, and now I'm home.

Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight apricot, and that LetUs has had fun.

Have you got Running Grave yet Wicked? I still haven't, must get round to it...

LetUsPrey · 30/09/2023 08:47

Morning wenches.

Muse were excellent. I thought of Fancy on several occasions.

Ick at rat!

I’m absolutely knackered but have a full on weekend of organising and here there and everywhere. <hides>
