Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

Oh wow 20 weeks, looks like I will be looking at Christmas time now. Really annoying. I’m 17 weeks on Friday. Calling them now though because they did say 17 weeks I’ll let you all know what they say.

Liverpoolgirl40 · 31/10/2022 12:40

No news yet! @Mkd1322 let us know how you get on xx

Ssabb90 · 31/10/2022 12:42

I have just spoke to lovely man that said they are still working on the 9th of June coc claims. He said its around the 20 week mark for waiting times, however they have more people working weekends over time so some cases are being turned over earlier than 20 weeks. Fingers crossed we all hear something soon

Liverpoolgirl40 · 31/10/2022 13:25

It’s getting worse with them! It’s far too long!

Cass29 · 31/10/2022 13:32

@Mkd1322 arh im glad you got someone nice. So fingers crossed we might have news by the end of next week or this week x

Cass29 · 31/10/2022 13:43

@Liverpoolgirl40 wasn't your scan date before the 9th? Maybe yours is done now x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 31/10/2022 14:00

@Cass29 ive just rang. Mine isn’t done. Will be the end of the week hopefully she said

Mkd1322 · 31/10/2022 14:51

@Liverpoolgirl40 is your with a decision maker now? Xx

Mkd1322 · 31/10/2022 14:51

Are scan dates only dates mon-friday? @Cass29 xx

Cass29 · 31/10/2022 14:54

@Mkd1322 oh im not sure on that one i know dms etc work weekends . My thinking would be maybe a Saturday but not a sunday x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 31/10/2022 16:42

@Mkd1322 no it’s not! What a joke!

Mkd1322 · 31/10/2022 18:43

How can they be workin on dates after yours but its not with a decision maker, I'd be absolutely fuming. Its wrong it's taking this long. @Liverpoolgirl40

Cass29 · 31/10/2022 19:00

Ive seen on other posts people have rang and told it hasn't been looked at yet or with a dm but had money in the bank 2 days later apparently theres a lag between what they can see on the system x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 01/11/2022 07:51

@Mkd1322 i am fuming! It’s a complete joke!!!!!! It is very wrong, and things seem to be getting worse rather than better!

Ssabb90 · 01/11/2022 12:36

Tell me about it and worse part is nobody seems to be getting paid with coc.

Cass29 · 01/11/2022 13:41

@Ssabb90 u should still be getting paid x

Ssabb90 · 01/11/2022 15:03

I really hope so 17 weeks now :(

Lianney84 · 01/11/2022 15:42

@Ssabb90 hiya I'm on 19 weeks this week will be 20 weeks on thurs coc and I'm still getting paid everyone does until coc has been looked at. I've been told that it's taking 22 plus weeks until looked at. I've given up calling now because only couple weeks ago I was told coc was looked at after 17 weeks mark clearly not .

Cass29 · 01/11/2022 15:58

@Lianney84 we are all in the same boat by the looks of it its week 20 for me and @Mkd1322 now and she rang yesterday and said shouldn't be much longer but im preparing meself for another 5 weeks as i dont think the coc are moving quick x

Ssabb90 · 01/11/2022 16:57

Thanks that’s really helpful to know, my son will be 3 next week and for some reason I’m not entitled to a blue badge until he gets his mobility element. It’s so annoying because he has a special push chair so parking is a nightmare.

Liverpoolgirl40 · 01/11/2022 17:39

I’ve give up ringing myself now. Every time I ring, the wait seems to be getting longer! Not sure how that works when staff are now working overtime!

ASDmummy2019 · 01/11/2022 18:17

If you apply for a blue badge once he’s turned 3 and put as much info on as possible you should get one, I got one a few weeks ago for my son and we don’t get high rate mobility. Xx

Cass29 · 01/11/2022 18:50

Its stressful the wait mind. I thought first applying was bad but this has took nearly double the time i think the longer you wait the more anxious you get x

Ssabb90 · 01/11/2022 23:15

I made the mistake of applying too early because I thought I would have heard back from dla by now. They said I have an open case for 6 weeks and if I get high rate mobility I’ll be issued with a blue badge straight away. It’s frustrating because my paediatric dr has already signed a slip which took me weeks to follow up and get to say we need one and our physio did us a really good letter to support us. Hope I don’t have to go through that all over again when applying. I will apply when he turns 3 seems like the better option thanks for that! They made out I wouldn’t get one with out the mobility element for over 3s :/ they was going to give us an under 3 one but she said by the time I got it I would need a new one for over 3.

Cass29 · 02/11/2022 09:59

Anyone heard anything? X
