Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

ACNbb · 13/10/2023 18:47

Hi my decision was made 11th and I was awarded middle rate for my daughter and low mobility waiting on payment and letter.

PratheepS · 04/11/2023 20:10

My scan date is 18-May. So far heard nothing. Anyone else who scan date is around mine and heard anything?

Jneill2021 · 04/11/2023 20:15

@PratheepS I'm 17th May, called Friday and the lady said around 10 more days. X

Asiyahmummy · 04/11/2023 23:13

Got the same reply apparently mid November will be getting a reply. Hopefully we get a good reply

I got a letter this morning and bad news - both care & mobility stays the same at MRC and LRM :( disappointed and depressed😭

I'm not sure what is the best evidence for "severe mental impairment". I have autism diagnosis done almost 6 years ago, letters from school, social worker etc. Since then the gap between DS mental and physical age has only increased, & care needs only increased several fold.

I will be going for MR. Any pointers/suggestions much appreciated.

PS: my scan date was not 18-May but 12-May. Apologies, had it wrong earlier

Jneill2021 · 06/11/2023 15:07

@PratheepS I'm so sorry to hear this it's so hard when people don't understand how difficult things are for our children, ino about smi rules, there is another vuw I believe, contact had a good guide for applying and changes to dla, I'm sosorry for your little one I'm hoping to hear soon for mobility my 5 year old has autism diagnosis gdd disagnosis and waiting on adhd , he receives high rater care because of his night needs he's up basically every night early hours and has no awareness of time thinks it's time to play lol, plus isn't potty trained as it doesn't register when he needs to go to use the toiket , care goes on night needs for hrc, sorry for babbling on I would definitely do an Mr maybe request to see his paediatrician, go to doctors ask then to write a letter to support xx

Jneill2021 · 06/11/2023 15:11

@PratheepS what is date did they send the letter as I believe you only have a moth from date of letter for Mr, also ask the school to help with supporting letters xxx

PratheepS · 06/11/2023 17:15

@Jneill2021 : thanks a lot. Hope you get a good answer soon!

Good idea on reaching out to school and GP. will do as suggested. The letter is dated 27-Oct. Almost 10 days to receive it, which itself isnt good.

Asiyahmummy · 06/11/2023 18:01

That's really disappointing. It's not fair as they make us wait 6 months for nothing. If they not going to give us a change they should tell us as soon they get the form.

Homesweethome93 · 07/11/2023 08:29

Hi I got a letter from my son's consultant saying he has SMI, and that they think he should be entitled to higher component of mobility as he already gets HRC. I'm still waiting. My son's DLA runs out beginning of February and they are saying they won't be able to see the coc untill end of Feb.. I'm very worried 😫😫 I heard a renewal takes just a few weeks does anyone know about this if so I will do that ?

Jneill2021 · 07/11/2023 10:11

@PratheepS thank you, I hope your Mr goes well keep me posted xx

Jneill2021 · 08/11/2023 10:20

Finally my sons coc is with a dm xx

starlight009 · 28/11/2023 12:10

Hi,
I've been a silent watcher of this thread for a while. I just thought I'd let you know my timescale. I received a payment in the bank today, which indicates my child has been moved from mrc to hrc. My scan date was 17th June.
Good luck to everyone, it's a tedious wait.

Ajmaddyhallie1 · 13/12/2023 17:48

In currently on week 22 of coc for dla. They says I'm 1/08 I rang in July any body in similar circumstances they said 11 weeks then 15 weeks then I never heard anything so I rang now they say 28 weeks

Homesweethome93 · 13/12/2023 21:40

I'm the 17 aug, got told it won't be getting looked at untill February last time I called which was last week was told middle of Feb so not much change x

Ajmaddyhallie1 · 13/12/2023 22:43

It's ridiculous when I rang 9 weeks ago when I had been waiting 13 weeks already, they said yes all evidence is here what we need it's just sitting waiting for a decision. Then I recieved a renewal letter in they want paperwork! But they have all my paper work off my change of circumstances.

Homesweethome93 · 14/12/2023 04:06

Iv literally just sent my renewal off as my son's claim finishes beginning of Feb and they are saying they won't get to a decision untill middle/end of Feb. Iv just sent copy's in with the renewal of all the paperwork I sent with change of circumstances. I don't really understand it all as iv only tried for mobility with the change of circumstances because he's nearly 5, (they sent papers out for mobility in aug so I filled and sent them in) not realising I have the renewal too or I wouldn't have bothered. Apprently the renewal gets seen alot quicker .. like within weeks, so here's to hoping and praying it does.

Ajmaddyhallie1 · 14/12/2023 06:41

My daughter isn't 5 yet so she doesn't get mobility either. 28 weeks is a long time to wait I didn't know the renewal was due or I would of waited also

Hi23 · 01/12/2024 16:08

all please can I have little info? I’m thinking of doing a change of circumstances for my son as on speaking with all that works with him they think he should be getting high rate motabilty I’m currently on low rate motabilty …as upon reading for to get high rate my son definitely fits into these from my understanding he’s needs are slot more worse than when I originally done these forms…but I’m worried he’s renew date is in June? Would yous wait for renew or put this in now? Would I still be paid until new decision is made? I’ve never done a change circumstance so I’m a little on edge what to do thank you any info would be appreciated x
