Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

I will be 21 weeks wait tomorrow for coc. I rang them on Friday as I had sent in more evidence and was told that my claim has not been looked at yet. Hopefully not much longer now!

Liverpoolgirl40 · 06/11/2022 10:03

I think mine will be 24 weeks Tuesday, which is ridiculous. I will ring again on Thursday I think. I can’t face another call to tell me it hasn’t been looked at, it’s draining! Not fair other peoples have been looked at who have only just sent their forms in! My friend who works there said the work is allocated to staff, and some do one per day, and other staff do 4. So that’s probably why! Xx

@Toria401982 did they mention what dates they were on to you? Just curious as we have all been told different. So @Liverpoolgirl40 do you think thats why people have heard back quick as they have probably had a fast dm i dont really understand it all x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 06/11/2022 13:29

@Cass29 i wouldn’t worry too much about what dates they are on. My mate said one member of staff could be working on a completely different week to another. The newer or less experienced staff work very slowly xx

Cass29 · 06/11/2022 13:37

@Liverpoolgirl40 yeah just when the man said they r roughly on the 9th and yours will be done end of next week thinking couldn't possibly if they are only on the 9th lol xx

Lianney84 · 06/11/2022 14:03

I wouldn't go by dates because every time I've called been told different so I've given up now because it's exhausting enough with out being told u got x amount off weeks to wait... I'm dreading it because off the wait and be told u not qualified for anything higher would be a kick in the teeth as my DS is more than entitled to it otherwise wouldn't off done change off circumstances. Also I've been rejected a blue badge because he's not on high mobility which I need desperately the badge due the dangers he puts himself In I need as close to store as possible when I do take him out and to appointments
.

Cass29 · 06/11/2022 14:25

@Lianney84 yes i tend not to because i seen you were told the 14th and we were told the 9th i mean if they work different rates i can see why that happens with mixed dates i suppose it all depends which dm you get a suppose. The man said keep an eye out for a txt but i was thinking will that happen as i already get dla . My sons award has another 5 year left and has been getting it 3 year so all new to coc and how it works x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 06/11/2022 16:10

@Cass29 yes i get what you mean although since my friend explained how it works to me, I don’t even ask the dates now. One member of staff could be on 1st June, another 1st July. So don’t bother asking. I’ve made a complaint about it and would urge others to do the same xx

Cass29 · 06/11/2022 16:18

@Liverpoolgirl40 yes thats what i thought all work different. We obviously have the longer ones ha ha xx

Liverpoolgirl40 · 06/11/2022 16:31

@Cass29 typical ha ha ha xx

Toria401982 · 06/11/2022 16:40

I didn't ask what date they are on as I just wanted to know if it had been looked at yet as I have just sent off some more evidence which I want them to look through. However I did call on the 17th October and the lady said they are working on the first week of June.

Cass29 · 07/11/2022 09:23

Well ladies heres to another week of waiting. Hopefully we hear back this week 🙏 x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 07/11/2022 09:27

Cass29 · 07/11/2022 14:12

@Mkd1322 maybe another week or so for me then he said friday i would know end of this week but il take that with a pinch of salt lol xx

Liverpoolgirl40 · 08/11/2022 09:21

I’ve just rang up again. It’s still not with a decision maker! She said to give it until the end of next week!!! That will be 26 weeks! Absolutely ridiculous! She also said there’s no time frame on how long the decision maker has to make a decision!
