Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

When I did change of circumstances they extended the award by 2 years as renewal was due

Mkd1322 · 26/10/2022 14:08

@Angeldust12 how long was left on your reward? How long did it take them to complete your coc? X

Angeldust12 · 26/10/2022 14:19

I did change of circumstances in Feb they made decision by April my award originally was until March 2023 they extended by 2 years

Mkd1322 · 26/10/2022 15:36

Oh ok @Angeldust12 I've been waiting 19 weeks so far for the coc it's absolute torture. X

Angeldust12 · 26/10/2022 15:59

I know the feeling I've just had to do another change of circumstances last week so guess this time I'm going to have a really long wait which is torture

Ssabb90 · 26/10/2022 19:10

Hi I have been waiting 15 weeks for change of coc, 16 weeks on Friday it’s so frustrating :(

Liverpoolgirl40 · 27/10/2022 17:59

I have been waiting 23 weeks now. Just rang to be told it will be another 2!
ive also been told if we are awarded, the back date will be from when they received the form. Not when I requested it? Does anybody know if this is true?

Mkd1322 · 27/10/2022 19:24

@Liverpoolgirl40 what is your scan date? Did they tell what date they are working on? I called today to be told they are working on the 7th of june. My scan daye is the 13th of june they said it wasn't even with a decision maker yet x

Ssabb90 · 27/10/2022 21:15

Oh my 23 weeks is a very long time… too long. It’s from the day you requested it, that would have been the date on the form. That’s always been the case for me both times. They put the date I requested it on the form at the front. I really can’t believe it’s taking this long I would have thought it was a faster process then a new claim. I’m so confused

Ssabb90 · 27/10/2022 21:16

My scan date is 8th July I think or 6th. I have a long wait ahead of me

Liverpoolgirl40 · 28/10/2022 06:44

Mkd1322 she didn’t say the date they were working on. She was very abrupt! It’s far too long to wait isn’t it!

Liverpoolgirl40 · 28/10/2022 06:45

Ssabb90 it is far too long isn’t it?! I thought that, although the lady said this is for new claims only? She was so rude and abrupt!

Angeldust12 · 28/10/2022 07:27

So if you do a coc and they lower the amount your entitled to and it takes 20 weeks to make that decision do you have to pay the money back?

Mkd1322 · 28/10/2022 09:54

@Liverpoolgirl40 did they say if yours was with a decision maker yet? What was the date they received your forms? I don't understand how it takes so much longer than a new claim x

Ssabb90 · 28/10/2022 11:03

That’s a good question, yeah probably. Or At least to a certain amount. I really had in my head it will be 17 weeks max.

Liverpoolgirl40 · 28/10/2022 11:08

Mkd1322 they received it on 7th June! Absolute joke!

Cass29 · 28/10/2022 11:19

Im putting me self on here as this is more about coc i already talk to @Mkd1322 on another thread. Im waiting from june the 16th . @Liverpoolgirl40 shocking you have waited that long mind x

Mkd1322 · 28/10/2022 11:45

@Liverpoolgirl40 hun I'd give them a call they have been working on that date x

Liverpoolgirl40 · 28/10/2022 13:04

Mkd1322 I rang them yesterday at 4 pm and was told to give it another 2 weeks!

Cass29 · 28/10/2022 13:59

I think we are looking at the 25 week mark now then . Be crazy tho because that takes most of us to December when we applied mid june 😒

Cass29 · 31/10/2022 09:25

Anyone had any news ? X

Mkd1322 · 31/10/2022 10:52

@Cass29 nope contemplating calling them x

Cass29 · 31/10/2022 10:57

@Mkd1322 ive seen new claims getting looked at now for new claims for 1st week of August. Surely coc cant be that far behind x

Mkd1322 · 31/10/2022 11:13

I no @Cass29 i saw. I dont understand how it took over a week to do one day in coc. I'm on hold to them. Its so frustrating x

Mkd1322 · 31/10/2022 11:31

@Cass29 mine still not with a decision maker, she said as its hit the 20week mark it really shouldnt be long now maybe this week or next i asked if i should call the end of the week and she said i can call when ever she was lovely. They haven't been givin the updated dates they are working on as of yet x
