Hi I am a single mother of a 9 year old boy with JIA , I put in a change of circumstances to dla as he gets low care but this was awarded for his mental health before his diagnosis and change in care needs . I have been told my application must sit in queue for 17 weeks before it’s looked at . I have been doing some research online about this wait time and seem to find nothing . Would love some advise on other people currently waiting on a coc .

Hi just wondering did you hear back from your MR? 3 weeks and still waiting.

Beckyc87x · 11/07/2023 21:05

I haven’t as of yet but I only sent everything in last week. So I’m thinking we might be waiting a few weeks to hear maybe? Have you phoned to see if there’s any updates?

Beckyc87x · 11/07/2023 21:09

I’ve only just learnt about the smi thing. Off tik tok believe it or not lol. My son is 14 and his learning is probably about 10+ years behind. Would he qualify based on that? Apparently you have to keep appealing. You will get it if it’s below a certain number on smi list. If that’s the right term for it.

Woke up to a payment of £1450 this morning so it looks like my MR was successful and hes been awarded HRC. Im absolutely thrilled. I wish you all well and will continue to check to see how you all get on. Just waiting on the letters now.

That’s brilliant news. How long were you waiting for their decision? I’m hoping that I have the news that you’ve recieved.

Jennag1987 · 14/07/2023 14:03

Zoemelia · 14/07/2023 18:38

26 weeks for change of circumstances . Or would be more ,

Sha2022 · 15/07/2023 11:27

Just received latter from DWP it’s take 11weeks for For decision to be look at again . That’s crazy .

Zoemelia · 15/07/2023 14:31

Oh really 26 weeks I guess I have a longer wait than I thought then lol 🙈🙈
Thankyou

Sha2022 · 15/07/2023 16:21

Yes 26 weeks . lol 😂 I have to wait another 11 weeks for look at my son claim again . For change of circumstances. Because they have refused my son claim . For night care . Because I have no proof for his night care . My son been wake early morning every night . But they refused.

Beckyc87x · 15/07/2023 22:29

ingot told that it doesn’t usually take long for a mandatory reconsideration. Once they receive everything the man on the phone I spoke to said that it usually takes about a week before it’s in the decision makers hand. I hope it’s not 11 weeks. It’s absolutely disgusting If we’re left that long for it after waiting 26 weeks already. I read further up that it took 3 weeks for someone.

Sha2022 · 16/07/2023 01:46

That’s good . But latter I have received it’s saying 11 weeks .

Beckyc87x · 18/07/2023 12:37

I’ve just received a decision. They have awarded my son the hrm and the hrc until October 2026. They received my mr on the 10th July and made the decision on the 14th July. I’ve over the moon. I really hope you hear soon.

Sha2022 · 18/07/2023 15:45

That’s very good 😊. I am so happy 😀 for u . Thanks God . U get what u want .

That’s absolutely amazing, I’m thrilled for you and your son! Quick decision over what was initially a very wrong outcome.

Im 2 and a half weeks into my MR wait. I’m actually preparing myself over having to go to tribunal now but there we go. And UC are refusing to backdate something they had wrong in their system as well, feels like the DWP have something against me atm 😐

Thankyou, I really hope you have a good outcome also. Have you rang them? I rang them today to just check. I literally made it impossible for them to refuse. You cannot argue with facts can you. The stress of it all is just horrible. I live in Manchester so I’m wondering if we send them all to the same place or if they have different departments all over? Did you do yours over the phone? I did it in writing.

I rang last week to make sure it was on the system. It is (I sent it recorded delivery) but they said it could be 5 weeks. Most of what I’m reading suggests 3-4 weeks, some get a phone call so I’ve been on edge with my phone. The DLA system has been down the last couple of days so no point calling at all at the moment.

I did mine in writing. As bad coincidence goes, my son was only formally diagnosed with autism on the day I found out he’d been declined HRC (with part of the reason being there was no ‘medical evidence of a sleep disorder’). So I waited for his diagnosis on paper and his school kindly wrote a letter which clearly states that lack of sleep is having a detrimental effect on his development and learning. Mine goes to Wolverhampton - it’s not actually in Wolves but much nearer Telford. I’m in the W Mids and I’ve been half tempted to drive up there myself and hand the forms in, I won’t lie 😂

And my son nursery actually write me latter for how his learning affecting in a nursery because his been taking nap 😴 there. Which I am happy what they saying in latter . Lest see what happened next . I still think they won’t going to change decision. 😂

That’s where mine was sent also. I literally sent mine on the 7th of July recorded delivery to be signed for, they logged it on the 10th and made a decision on the 14th. I rang them today to be told they’ve made a decision and have awarded it. Haha I’d be tempted too. You’re not far from there are you. I was actually joking to my partner that I might just drive there with my son and show them the difficulties that he faces. It’s terrible that our children are denied the basic things that they need and we have to Juno through hoops to get it for them. I really do hope you hear from them soon and it goes in your favour. I’d ring them again as that’s what I did today.

Sha2022 · 18/07/2023 16:58

u did very good hand the form in . lol 😂

Sha2022 · 18/07/2023 18:11

Can’t believe just received called from DWP for 20 minutes they want to find out my son night time routine . I have explained everything he told me his not sure 🤔 if he going to change decision. Let’s hope for best 😊.

Sha2022 · 18/07/2023 18:31

Anyone else received call?? What happened when they call parents and ask some questions about night time routine . ? I am so nervous 😩. Don’t know what happened next ? Plz help if some one else received call .

Sha2022 · 18/07/2023 19:20

DWP decision maker told me maybe even he won’t going to wait for nursery latter and make decisions. Is that’s bad or good ? I am so nervous maybe I won’t good enough on phone 📞 😞

Just keep appealing it. And don’t give up. It’s so stressful for us mums to have to fight for the basic things our children should get anyway.
