Hi all, back again

OP posts:
julie4travel · 02/12/2007 16:31

hello to the new thread!

good luck to all waiting on castings/jobs
it has gone quiet like it did last year for us

totallyfloaty35 · 02/12/2007 17:06

Hi,mum22,yes took her on saturday, they were amazed by her hair, its so curly now and blonde.
Lyndall,my baby has had about 7jobs and 15 castings, although its been really quiet for the last few months. My eldest is with Bruce and brown, she joined them a month ago and nothing so far,my middle dd is with KL,has had 1 job and 3 castings in last 6months,kl are a bit more depersonalized,i frequently get the feeling they have no idea who i am when i call and have to say dds name age, where we live etc before recognition dawns, but its a good agency.

mummyeme · 02/12/2007 18:44

Sure u/a are really good but tend to agree with Altin, went last year too and more or less in and out (that would be a casting situation and shouldn't be one where you are told to expect a 20 min consultation), photographer says dd is great, Alysia says dd is gorgeous and still a no. Also have a strange philosophy that a kid doesn't change at all and won't consider them again if you've been to a consultation. Most definitely they're loss doing really well now as well.

dancerdeb · 02/12/2007 18:52

Hello Mummyeme how are you doin? youve not posted for ages, nice that youre back

OP posts:
marymay · 02/12/2007 19:18

hi..my two are with u/a my dd has been with them for two year and my ds has been with them for a year and a half.
i have nothing to compare with as we have only ever been with them.
when i took dd for the first time .they didnt spend ages talking to me.but when they offered her a contract they spent a long time telling me how everything worked.
they are always happy to answer any question i have .i never feel im being a pain .if i email them .they always email me back.
both my two have had some great jobs,ds a little more then dd.they have both been in commercials.

good luck if you are waiting to hear .im sure you will be very happy with them if they offer your child a contract.

lyndall · 02/12/2007 19:36

Hi everyone, thanks for the new thread Dancerdeb. Totally, was your eldest with an agency before joining B&B? I know exactly what you mean about KL, they must be good because others are very happy with them but they do feel a bit 'distant'. How old is your eldest?
Mummyeme, which agency are you with?
Marymay, your children sound as though they have done very well. Remind me how old they are again?

Alliebongo · 02/12/2007 19:37
marymay · 02/12/2007 19:57

lyndall...dd is 11 and ds is 9.he is on the m&s back to school website at the moment.if you want a nosy .under trail blazer.

lyndall · 02/12/2007 20:00

Marymay, he's a natural! What a handsome boy, you must be very proud. How much work has he had through Urban Angels over the past 18 months?

marymay · 02/12/2007 20:18

he has been lucky and done nine jobs and one commercial.
dd only done a few but i think more girls her age model.

marymay · 02/12/2007 20:40

forgot to say thank you

santassackertysack · 02/12/2007 20:42

How the devil are you?? What threads do you hang out on now???

ellesmum · 02/12/2007 21:53

hi dancerdeb- sorry i took so long to get back to you, my dd has been with kl for 1 1/2 years last year she had aroud 8 jobs from august-december 06. but this year shes had less with 5 jobs and 6 castings which is good but not as good as when she first joined.

they do always seem mega busy whenever i phone! my dd is in tesco magazine at the mo you can have a peek at her online. shes the little girl wearing the pink dress with pink ribbon.

Morning All

Lyndall - to answer your question from the old thread: I got sent the model book pics as proof of what had been done. As you prob. know the site is password protected (good thing!) so you're not going to see them unless they send or you chase.

totallyfloaty makes a good point about the 'depersonalized' aspect of KL. They are, from the sounds of it, more remote than UA and one of the women there I've spoken to makes the h/mistress from Dahl's 'Mathilda' sound like Mary Poppins with her approach. A bit brusque.

The only reason KL get in touch is when there's a job or a casting - yes, that's very businesslike but I personally prefer it that way. I know other parents prefer the feedback/regular contact approach, and I can fully appreciate that, but KL's approach - even if they are a little distant - is fine by me.

dancerdeb · 03/12/2007 16:32

Altin, hear, hear, it takes time to get used to KL they are certainly unique! but also very, very good and now 7mths down the line, Im used to they way they work, although do understand the new mums who need a litle reassurance

dancerdeb · 03/12/2007 17:00

Marymay your little boy is lovely, my compliments
Ellesmum, tried but couldnt find her, is she a toddler. or younger girl? I did get onto the site though.

OP posts:
lyndall · 03/12/2007 18:33

Altin, thanks for your response to my question. Do you find you get more work from KL since participating in the model book? I have heard conflicting views from people: some say KL submit the model book children first and others say they submit everyone.

ellesmum · 03/12/2007 22:09

lyndall - ive never heard they submit model book kids first! hope that isnt true!

dancerdeb - if you go to tesco.com and then click on fashion and lifestyle, then go to "stepping out" my dd is the 3 year old wearing the pink dress. have you had anything from kids lately?

santassackertysack · 03/12/2007 22:57

It is in KL interests to get ANY child on their books a job!.......as i understand, and i could be wrong!!!!!, if a child is in the model book then a client can choose to see them from their photo before asking KL to sumbit any children which match there casting request - if that makes sense!

lyndall · 03/12/2007 23:02

Hi Ellesmum, judging by your daughter's success with KL it probably isn't the case (I assume you haven't opted to go in the model book?)
However, I recall reading a post in which the author said she thought the model book was presented to the clients first. I am just wondering whether it's worth doing.

dancerdeb · 04/12/2007 11:08

Ellesmum, am still trying and Tess Daly comes up! and I cant see any fashion and lifestyle, I them go to kids and the two lovely blonde kids come up? sorry
We have had an availability check for junior mag for the 11th, but still not heard.

OP posts:
goingfor3christmaspuddings · 04/12/2007 11:13

dancerdeb good luck with the Junior check, they often don't confirm until the afternoon or evening before the job!

dancerdeb · 04/12/2007 11:40

Hi goingfor3xmaspuddings, wish I could!!
Hows you and yours, anything for you?

OP posts:
goingfor3christmaspuddings · 04/12/2007 12:00

dancerdeb dd did a couple of Junior jobs last month both for the feb issue. It's quiet around this time of year so I'm not expecting her to get anything else until next year.
