I am a SAHM but will start nurse training soon (as a 30 something VERY mature student).

I am a nosey sod and want to know what you all do and if you are happy doing what you do?

Oh, and must say, reading the comments of the Nurses on this thread...totally reassured me about my decision NOT to return into Nursing.

kittylouise · 13/11/2007 16:50

Sub-Contract Manager, in charge of buying machinery for aeroplanes.

Sometimes I enjoy it, but it is VERY hard and male dominated. On days like today I wish I worked in a cake shop.

BernieBear · 13/11/2007 17:04

I run my own dog walking business aka I pick up poo for half of the day!.......and still trying to toilet train my ds the other half. Yep, my life is sh*t!

Yummers · 13/11/2007 17:15

dp pays for pretty much everything at the moment but as in lots of SAHM's cases it's not really like that as i also work bloody hard, it just so happens that his job has a salary and my boss is 2 feet tall and never bloody happy.

am hoping to start bringing in some kind of income soon tho'. would really help.

ArmadilloDaMan · 13/11/2007 17:20

reception/admin for local council - in their customer centre (i'm still training).

I enjoy it so far, only been there a few weeks

ClaphamLauren · 13/11/2007 17:27

Media and Events Recruitment. It's ok, certainly not love of the job that gets me up for work in the morning but I love the money!

foofi · 13/11/2007 17:41

Nothing.
No.

peacelily · 13/11/2007 17:49

3andnomore I think you've made the right choice in Ot over SW. Nothing against Sws but their job is HARD. And they get nightmares like me on the phone everyday banging on about referrals!!

having worked as a norse in the NHS for 10 years the OT role looks great in comparison, although I'm sure it's not as cushty as it looks! Do wish I'd gone for that though...

OliviaMumsnet · 13/11/2007 17:58

I work for Mumsnet. It's great.

southeastastra · 13/11/2007 17:59

stepfordwife · 13/11/2007 17:59

got any jobs going, olivia?

OliviaMumsnet · 13/11/2007 18:04

's not up to me I'm afraid but I think we're good for now. Just thought I'd be silly. (Too much sugar does that for me and I had a nutella sandwich just now!)

stepfordwife · 13/11/2007 18:11

i'll just have your job, then
can feel your sugar rush from here!

MarsLady · 13/11/2007 18:19

I'm a Doula and I love it with a passion!

Arfishy - sorry just seen this! I dont actually 'do' any engineering, just manage the work that is done (if that makes sense!).

Mainly any cabling work which is beyond the dp/nte (customer owned)

Wilkie · 13/11/2007 21:34

Project Manager. Love it even though it drives me insane at times.

Didn't plan it - just kind of fell into it.

arfishy · 13/11/2007 22:11

Thanks tequila & welcome to the very exclusive telco clique.

I get involved with infrastructure too. My hat changes pretty frequently, sometimes tech lead, sometimes design. I'm in the 3G mobile side rather than data/fixed. My team does the big brother stream to mobiles and suchlike.

All riveting stuff

TequilaMockinBird · 13/11/2007 22:24

Ooohh theres a telco clique?

I don't get involved with anything mobile, its all fixed voice and data. My team mainly provide lineplant for new circuits but we also do highly exciting refurbs, network overlay, new-builds etc.

I work for the biggest and probably best known telco in the UK so do quite a bit of work on 'our' UK network too.

santassackertysack · 14/11/2007 13:26

arfishy · 15/11/2007 04:37

Verrrry exclusive clique - it's you, me and legalalien .

twentypence · 15/11/2007 04:51

Music Teacher.

love it - no two lessons are the same and the hourly rate and tax advantages are not to be sneezed at. Picking my hours means no child care costs.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 15/11/2007 07:08
