Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Also, on the subject of behaving better at school than at home - yes. DS seems to be much more likely to talk to his teachers than to us!

Just broken up another loud stand off between FancyCat and a fox Hmm

DDb seemed fairly happy, so fingers crossed. Glad miniHelen has been doing well.

Can you all stop hoarding the thunder please?Envy

LetUsPrey · 13/05/2021 06:44

Morning wenches.

Hurrah for photo Helen!

We’re not getting any lightning Fancy, just thunder. Does that make it better?

We have rain forecast again but I’m inside the majority of the day and we’re very fortunate that we don’t have many flooding issues in this area.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/05/2021 07:45

Morning. We had a few spots of rain this morning - literally - like, plop-plop-plop. And that was it. Hmm v. tired this morning - DH didn't sleep well, so, obviously, neither did I.

I think the robins are nesting again - I met one with a beak full of dried grass when I was feeding the chickens.

Fingers crossed for a thunderstorm for Fancy...

Afternoon. Another day of showers.

Well done to all the Minis for err... doing well. Star Star Star

We had a visit this afternoon from DD and DGS again. DD and I jabber while DH and DGS chase each other around. Hmm

Awww at nesting robins and eeek at stand-off.

LetUsPrey · 13/05/2021 19:27

Evening wenches.

Squeeee at nesting robins!

That actually sounds rather good Apricot. You and DD have definitely got the better deal there Grin

Did you get any thunder Fancy? Any job or property updates Wicked?

Have been trying to get hospital/paediatric stuff dealt with for DS2. Much chasing and getting nowhere (we’re talking well over a year since the original GP referral and the relevant department forgetting to actually send any letters out after the appointment last summer until about six weeks ago). Heard from one department last month to make an appointment - have made that for August. Now received a confirmation of telephone appointment letter from another department that I’ve no idea what it’s for, whether they’ll want to speak with me or DS2 or both of us. No number on it except an appointment booking line. It’s driving me potty.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/05/2021 21:16

FFS LetUs - well that puts my winge about cutting DS' hair well into perspective.

But still, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Me: Are you sure you want me to cut it like that?
DS: Yes
me: Are you completely sure?
DS: Yes
me: Really, like this?
DS: Yes.
Me
DS: I want it like that

No thunderstorms here again Angry
Yay for nesting robins and boo for haircut stress.

Medical appointments are a bugger to get at the moment - I had to call up for DD who had an appointment cancelled last year & was told it would be rearranged. It wasn't. A new one was issued within a day or two of my call, it worries me to think that there's no system for rearranging cancelled appointments. Or that the system is to wait for people to chase up - which is unfair on those in most need or who lack support to chase up for them.

LetUsPrey · 13/05/2021 23:08

No coat Helen?! Blimey!

That sounds remarkably similar to a haircut conversation with DS1 last year Helen Grin

NiceColleague and I said exactly the same thing about people lacking support and needing appointments.

I was heading to the hayloft about an hour ago. Definitely going now.

LetUsPrey · 14/05/2021 06:35

Morning wenches.

Rubbish night’s sleep and feel a bit shit as a result. It’s Friday though so that’s good.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/05/2021 07:21

Morning. I'm in teh same state as LetUs with the additional stress of remembering that I forgot to get and post a 'milestone' birthday card yesterday, so I'm about to throw clothes on and shoot out to do that. Really, I just want to go back to bed (and if there are HBFs involved then that would be a bonus, obvs.)

It's grey and cloudy outside, so no motivation/relief from staring at spreadsheets there either. Le sigh....

I wonder if DH has done anything about following up his missing appointments yet... he keeps saying that he will, but I think he keeps forgetting.

You know what - sod work and stuff - lets all go and lie on a Caribbean beach for the day - plan?

Morning
I kicked a hedgehog last night ShockBlush
Well not exactly, went outside just before bed to empty some water on the pots, didn't bother turning lights on - or look where I was going, clearly! Slightly stubbed my toe on something unexpectedly heavy in the middle of the patio and there it was! Poor bugger was tightly curled up but did unroll and scuttle off soon after, as I tried to keep the cats from glaring at it through the window. Squeeeeeee - that's the first one I've actually seen in my garden, hoping there are more as I get plenty of slugs that they are welcome to!

ApricotCrush · 14/05/2021 16:28

Afternoon. Better day with sunshine and no rain. Smile

The situation with GPs has been terrible. I haven't seen mine for 2 years in spite of having to have an annual medication review. I was told they're not doing them now. Shock Anyway, I read this morning that a directive has been sent to them by NHS England telling them they must hold face to face appointments from 17th May if the patient requires them, so hopefully it should be resolved.

Awww at hedgehog, I've never seen one in our garden.

LetUsPrey · 14/05/2021 20:23

Evening wenches.

I don’t think it rained today.

I know exactly what you mean about medication check ups Apricot. I had one over the phone but could I take my own blood pressure and let them know the reading.

Lucky you didn’t stand on the hedgehog Fancy - for both of you! Love that they can help get rid of the slugs - nature doing its thing.

I have a really horrible headache so I’m off to find some paracetamol and have a lie down.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/05/2021 21:08

LetUs

No rain or sunshine here - just clouds. We have hedgehogs occasionally. I like to see them, but they're also vicious little buggers - years ago, we had one attack and kill some chicks.

We're going to need a new thread imminently...

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 15/05/2021 07:38

Morning wenches.

Shock at hedgehog killing a chick! I didn’t know they did that sort of thing.

Ended up in bed just after 9 last night. Slept better too. Today will be washing and trying to get DS2 to do homework and revision.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/05/2021 11:10

Morning all. cloudy and spitting with rain. So the washing's on, in hope more than expectation of it drying on the line.

I must do tidying/digging/drains stuff today. (I probably won't).

I'll also be needing a long hot soak, if Wicked or LetUs could remove this specimen so I can run a new bath?
