Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Morning wenches.

Forgot to set the film to record. Arse.

Hope you’re feeling better Helen.

I have ironing to do today and hopefully more of my jigsaw.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2021 11:29

Morning. Minor headache this morning, but that's probably due to a long lie-in and nothing to drink. I am slobbing on the sofa doing nothing (sudoko/mooching online) DH has snooker on.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 03/05/2021 15:24

Downloaded the film and watched most of it this afternoon whilst ironing. Not hugely my thing I’m finding but I shall persevere to the end later.

Doing nothing much sounds ideal Helen.

It’s been tipping it down all day.

ApricotCrush · 03/05/2021 17:04

Afternoon. Chucking it down all day here. Oh well, good for the garden. Hmm

Hope headache has gone Helen.

DH is watching snooker too. That's it really.

LetUsPrey · 03/05/2021 19:56

DH has put the football on. It’s at West Brom and seems to be raining rather a lot. He’s now putting snooker on again.

We’re starting Line of Duty from the beginning tonight. Fortunately any names that have been mentioned over the two series we’ve watched will have been forgotten Grin

Has Rise of Skywalker on for a bit. Kylo was being Kylo and I thought of Wicked Grin

FancyFancy · 03/05/2021 20:56

Well it's all gone very Bank Holiday here - tipping it down with rain and blowing a gale Hmm Did manage to get the gardening done first though - it was a day for re-purposing weeds, my neighbours gave me some, FancyMan gave me some more and I gave some different ones to FancyMan Grin

Watched the first Lucifer that Netflix made last night - it was a bit weird. Not quite the same, but difficult to put my finger on why. He still looked fiiiiine though #priorities

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2021 21:57

Evening all. The headache did finally go, thank goodness.

We had pointless rain this afternoon - enough to be annoying, but not enough to do the garden much good. This evening, however, we have lots of wind and proper filling-the-waterbutt-rain. Have done stuff - been busy-ish most of the day, but I'm not sure what I've been doing Confused Gardeny things - oh - had to get the plumber out for a valve on the hot water system that had turned into a sprinkler. Fortunately was a nice local bod who charged us a pittance (perhaps because he realised he knew me and, more usefully, knew Dad) Grin Also broke a vase, which was entirely my own fault, and a bugger because now I'll have to find a replacement.

LOL at the 'repurposed weeds' Fancy - that usually means I've just planted them in other parts of the garden round here! I have got a pile of weeds to be repurposed into ashes though (not risking the compost with ground elder/nettles/couch grass etc).

Well done on persevering with the film LetUs - dedication to wenching duty Grin We have got snooker on just now but had Pink Panther on earlier - DS bored and winged until it got to slapstick moments of people running in and out of different doors/under beds etc to hide from each other.

Hope wicked has good news from work this week... (Like, her new line manager will be Kylo, or the bod from Cobra Kai) Grin

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 03/05/2021 22:23

That's pretty much what I've been doing helen - as the bottom of the garden is being turned into a woodlandy/native plants area because no feckin' grass will grow there all such plants found to have self seeded elsewhere get moved there. My neighbour was thinning out some of her beds, hence the plants from her. When I was planting them I found some tiny hawthorn seedlings which FancyMan wanted - he will have a miniature hawthorn hedgerow Grin

The robins were very bold while I was doing the planting - getting very close. If only hbfs could be lured closer by something as easy as turning over the earth.

LetUsPrey · 04/05/2021 07:40

Morning wenches.

Have I woken up in February? Same weather as what Fancy ended up with yesterday. Heavy rain and high winds.

You’ll have to watch it very carefully Fancy, possibly more than once, to see if you can figure out what the difference is. For science and all that.

Hurrah for helpful plumber but booo for broken vase.

As a complete non-gardener, I do love all the gardening talk! It’s interesting, like when I like settling down with Gardeners’ World.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/05/2021 07:44

Morning all. Yes Fancy - HBFs are really quite inconsiderate like that.

This morning, so far we've had wind, rain, and bright sunshine. One of those days then. Just under 1cm rain overnight (did I say that DS mowed the rain gauge on accident? I have Rain Gauge#2 now, and it's in a flower bed instead of the lawn.) Birds are feathery and cheepy.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 04/05/2021 17:40

Evening. Weather all over the place here although I managed to dodge the showers while doing the food shop. The wind is bitterly cold though.

Shame about the vase and Rain Gauge #1 Helen.

DH said he'd like to rewatch all of Line of Duty. I was a bit disappointed in the ending but I suppose it was true to life.

Only cooking for myself tonight as DH has hopefully eaten out at a golfing venue so that will be a ping meal. He'll come home frozen. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 04/05/2021 18:26

Evening wenches.

Whoops at mown rain gauge! We had hail on my way home. Quite a bit of it too. And yes, that wind was bitter wasn’t it? Was wishing I had my gloves this morning.

Enjoy your ping meal Apricot. Hope MrApricot isn’t too cold and soggy when he gets back.

FancyFancy · 04/05/2021 21:03

Yikes - what a day to be out playing golf! We had repeated bouts of hail here. In fact it was all very April showers-like. Fitting I suppose as the year seems 'late', everything in the garden is slow to get going. Looking at some of the later flowering plants I'm starting to fret that their flowers will be hit by autumn frosts if they don't get a wriggle on Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/05/2021 22:31

Evening all. Yikes to the weather. It's bonkers - the Glenshee road was closed due to snow this morning! Hope that MrA doesn't need to be defrosted!

Fancy - last year was so dry that some flower seeds didn't germinate, and the cosmos ended up late and about 5 inches tall with daisy-sized flowers Shock

Loft update - the bait (peanuts) was eaten but traps weren't sprung Hmm Ninja mice... I have also accidentally left the peanuts up there - in a big plastic tub, so they should be safe, but I'd better go up and fetch it.

We have been watching 'Sully: Miracle on the Hudson'. From now on, I only want to fly if Tom Hanks if the captain. Very good film though.

Still keeping fingers crossed for Wicked's job - saw this today and thought of her Grin

Morning wenches.

I’m imagining a raft of very confused/indignant plants “well it’s not my fault I was late!”

Grinat ninja mice and at that photo. Have heard good things about that film Helen. Glad you enjoyed it.

Curtains still closed so as far as I’m concerned it’s absolutely fine out there. Short day today so hurrah for that. Need to get up though really.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/05/2021 07:40

Morning. It was bright ans sunny when I got up. Less so now. I don't know what the forecast is, but it doesn't look great just now.

Just now I have tap/shuffle dancing mice Little sods. They only do the ninja thing when they want food. Nothing else exciting to report overnight.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 05/05/2021 16:40

Hi Smile No energy to post anything lately but here's an update, we had a meeting at work today but no decision yet on which people that gets sacked.
I had a viewing of the apartment on Sunday but not sold yet so I'll have another viewing this Sunday. And apparently the moron neighbour that's been renovating and drilling for several months is also selling now, so maybe everyone will bid for his apartment instead of mine.
Thankfully he's using the same real estate agency as me so the realtors are planning to work together.
Been feeling extremely stressed out today, stress eating etc.

But then I got contacted this afternoon about a possible new job, I've been in contact with them earlier but they hadn't any openings available at the time. But now they do, so who knows! I was so suprised! So some good news at least Smile

Hope all wenches are well Smile

ApricotCrush · 05/05/2021 17:35

Afternoon. More strange weather, hail this afternoon.

I went to the opticians this morning. My eyesight is still the same so no need to spend a small fortune on new glasses, unless I want to. Errr, no. Hmm

Unfortunately DH has pranged his car on some barrier in a car park and says it will need a new bumper, so what I've saved on the glasses will go on that, and more...

Grin at ninja mice.

Oh WW you are going through a stressful time, but good about the possible new job. Wine Chocolate [Kylo]

LetUsPrey · 05/05/2021 18:06

Evening wenches.

Ninja mice who also tap dance. Awesome yet not awesome.

Oh Wicked, what a rollercoaster of a few days you’re having. I’m sure you’ll sell your apartment soon, and you’ll be okay job wise either way. Many

That’s a proper giveth with one hand and taketh away with the other Apricot.

Has been mostly bright today. More dickish behaviour at work where someone in another department is off sick so the other person in the same department shafts the work to me and NiceColleague because they’ve “got loads on”. What the fuck are we doing then? Knitting? I mean, it was simple stuff really but fucksake not our division, as Lestrade would say Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/05/2021 21:24

Evening. FFS at fuckwit co-workers LetUs. Fingers crossed for everything Wicked (that's a lot to have going on!) How annoying about DH's car Apricot, but at least your eyes don't need more money Grin

Work was work-ish. Busy, but I'm not sure really what I got done. Lots of 'bits'. We finally saw the end of Galaxy Quest today - was a good giggle. Now I'm watching Sewing Bee and they're dissecting Breton Tops, It's a bit like watching Bake Off and not knowing what they're meant to be cooking. Or my bewilderment may be because I'm not paying enough attention when they set the task - that seems very likely!

Wildlife report today is mostly venison - four rather impressive red deer looking worried about me and then popping delicately over fences/splashing through ditches into the distance, and a muntjac which just ran away into a hedge Grin (Oh dear, I've just typed through the task info again - they may be making a sarong. I thought those were just a wafty oblong of material. Hmm Oh - no - they need to make a new garment out of sarongs. Right.)

Hope that Fancy has had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 05/05/2021 22:26

I bloody love Galaxy Quest Grin

Am very ooooo at your wildlife Helen!

Have also watched Sewing Bee. Loved most of the final round outfits and remain impressed by anyone who can be that creative.

Hayloft time.

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2021 07:15

Morning wenches.

Helen do you still need some rain? We have lots again earlier than expected so I think we can spare some.

Some bloody weird dreams which I don’t particularly remember other than weirdness and no HBFs obviously and now I feel all discombobulated.

Anyway onwards and upwards - as the wench said to the HBF.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2021 07:27

Yep - we can take more rain - pass it over (though if we could have it overnight, that would be ideal?) It's nice and sunny at the moment, and a bit crispy underfoot, though that's thawing. There was a decent layer of ice in the bird bath.

I haven't remembered any dreams for ages, though now I say it there's one floating just out of reach in my brain... suffice to say - no HBFs, or I'd have remembers that.

Mice are micing overhead. FFS. Birds are birding outside . The blackbird still comes and re-enacts The Birds at the sitting room window sometimes. Hmm Wierdo.

FancyFancy · 06/05/2021 13:30

Afternoon
Still very April showers-like here. Am back in the office, plodding through some detailed stuff. What fun Hmm

There was a very loud fox outside yesterday evening - think it was engaged in a stand-off with FancyCat who scuttled in gratefully when I opened the door for her Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 06/05/2021 15:46

Slept bad last night and had a disturbing dream Confused

Sewing Bee sounds like fun Smile
