Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Oh no! Can you buy some dead flies and feed the fly trap Apricot? Would it like dried mealworms?

We have had a walk today and built a snowman - hurrah! DS was very grumbly about it all and complained that he was cold, but also cheered up when we had a snowball fight. Did do tidying as well, and cleaned out chicken coop (still no HBFs) and provided Inconvenient Cat with a nice comfortable bed (me) Grin

Just rain rain and more rain here. Didn’t end up going for a walk as there was a very chilly wind when it did eventually stop raining.

My mum’s cooker went after many years of dedicated service. A sort of gradual decline so she didn’t have to replace it right away. Just as well as it took forever for her to find something even halfway suitable.

Awww at InconvenientCat.

Haven’t done much today except eat too much.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/01/2021 22:36

Evening. We have watched Skyfall, which was a good film, but a bit baffling as why Bond didn't organise any back-up for the end-of-film showdown. Hmm

Dad's cooker went on the blink last year - it was only the element so he bought a new one. Took him about 6 months to bother fitting it, when he realised he couldn't cook his turkey in the small top oven Grin

I am going to have an early night tonight. Oh - we watched episodes 1-2 of DoW LetUs - it's still very silly Grin

LetUsPrey · 17/01/2021 09:04

Morning wenches. Am definitely going for that walk today. Probably.

It’s because he’s James Bond Helen. He doesn’t need back up possibly because someone else might take the credit.

I’ve two episodes left of DoW. Still silly and the leather still helping.

I believe there’s football on today. I shall be having a bath.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2021 09:31

Morning. It's a lovely sunny day here so far.

DH is switching between cricket and skiing already, and I am buried under cats. You'd think we hadn't actually moved in the past 12 hours Hmm

LetUsPrey · 17/01/2021 12:33

Went for a walk for DS2 which was quite muddy in parts.

Trying to work up the will to do the ironing.

FancyFancy · 17/01/2021 13:27

Afternoon
It's very sunny here and the dusting of snow we had yesterday has disappeared.

Lucifer spent most of Friday's episode wearing a waistcoat - it was very flattering.

Will spend the day doing dull chores and possibly doing some ironing later in front of trashy tv, on the excitement! Hope the good weather stays until tomorrow so I can get out for a decent walk with FancyMan - seeing as we can't actually go anywhere else or get the house to ourselves!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2021 13:35

We are going for a bike ride

Confused

Ironing motivation... if you do the ironing, HBFs will take their clothes of so you can give them a good pressing Does that help? Halo Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2021 13:46

OFF, FFS. OFF, not of.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 17/01/2021 14:12

Everything crossed you get some good weather tomorrow Fancy

I hadn’t even noticed the typo Helen. My thoughts were distracted for some reason Grin

I am feeling motivated to do the ironing. Can’t think why....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2021 15:09

Oh no - have you scorched all the ironing LetUs! There seems to be a distinct lack of clothing for the HBFs - they're all hanging around partially dressed...

Did bike ride, the cloud was harmless and had blown over by the time we actually got out.

Finger crossed for some dense evergreen shrubs on you walk tomorrow Fancy Wink (To provide a bit of a change from the bare branches and mud.)

Silly me, not doing the ironing properly Grin

Hurrah for disappearing cloud and successful bike ride!

I’m tempted to get the books that A Discovery of Witches is based on. I can put them on the already teetering pile of books waiting to be read Blush

ApricotCrush · 17/01/2021 16:34

Afternoon. Absolutely no motivation to do anything here.

DH isn't giving up on mending the oven. He hates to be defeated. He says he tells me about it in great detail because he's thinking out loud and sometimes gets a light bulb moment.

We've finished Bridgerton and also look forward to Season 2 whenever that will be.

We started The Serpent, but weren't too keen.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2021 17:17

Ah - MrA has my sympathies, because I do that with BoringOfficeJob stuff - if I explain it to someone else, then quite often the solution appears in my brain. Out of consideration, I do restrict myself to discussions with colleagues though, and don't bore DH to death with it. If only I had HBFs on hand, then I could tell them all about it too. Or I might find better uses for our time. Grin

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 17/01/2021 17:53

There really is something about articulating the problem that seems to help the brain have those light bulb moments - I've lost count of how often I start explaining an issue and then have a mid sentence burst of inspiration Grin . I hope it works soon for MrA so you are spared oven talk.....

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/01/2021 18:00

I talk to myself in the supermarket BlushGrin

LetUsPrey · 17/01/2021 18:45

MrApricot sounds like a TV detective, Miss Marple and Poirot do that flash of inspiration thing when talking to someone Grin

I mutter constantly to myself in the supermarket too

Have had a lovely bath and finished Pole to Pole by Michael Palin.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2021 22:10

Hurrah for baths. I think I'm going to head for mine. And a not-very-early night.

LetUsPrey · 18/01/2021 07:44

Morning wenches. Crap night and now it’s Monday.

When DS2 gets up I need to tell him that the live lesson (one per day) are in fact taking place. We’d assumed they weren’t as we’d had no further information and they weren’t discussed in the latest letter. To be honest that’s really unusual from school as they’ve been excellent with all the lockdown stuff. Anyway, he hates the idea and has been massively upset (which reminds me I must chase up for an update from his paediatric referral) so that’s going to be a fun conversation over breakfast.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/01/2021 08:47

for LetUs and miniLetUs Sad

I had a nice bath and decided to finish my book. So it's my own fault that I didn't get to sleep until pushing 1am. But I wasn't expecting to be woken at 6am by DS joining us in bed (bad dream). Am a bit woolly-headed this morning.

On the plus side, we have a blue sky/light cloud, bright sunshine morning.

Have a good day all, nice walk for Fancy, etc...

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 18/01/2021 16:25

Afternoon. Still grey and damp here.

Highlight of the day - visit to the chemist to collect a prescription.

Grin at WW talking to herself in the supermarket. I've been known to swear out loud if they've run out of something important.

for MiniLetUs. Wine and Chocolate for LetUs.

Hope MiniHelen has got over his bad dream.

Also hope Fancy enjoyed her walk.

FancyFancy · 18/01/2021 19:04

Evening
We did indeed get out for a walk - was nice, lots of tiny bluebell shoots in the woods, but was very muddy. Was also nice to get to 4pm and it still be light Smile

LetUsPrey · 18/01/2021 19:29

Evening wenches.

That sounds beautiful Fancy and hurrah for light at 4pm!

for MiniHelen

I do think there’s been footage of me somewhere on supermarket CCTV muttering FFS at various intervals when I can’t find the stuff I want Grin

It went okay in the end this morning with DS2. He was predictably reluctant but we had a little chat and went through what was involved together, and I stayed until he’d got going with the lesson. It was a big thing for him to do so I was quite proud of him.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/01/2021 20:38

Star for miniLetUs - it is nice when they achieve something that was a challenge for them.

My excitement for the day was going to Tesco (no Shreddies in stock - I think that swearing in supermarkets is normal, no?) I also bought DS some slippers for his ever-growing feet.

Hurrah for emerging bluebells, but eek for mud. It's like the Somme in places round here Confused

Morning wenches.

Raaaaaiiiinnnnnnnn here. Lots and lots of it. And daaarrrkk.

This is therefore a perfect day for staying in the Tav with wenches and HBFs.
