Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Sadly that one was not on the curriculum. Maybe I should suggest it to the teacher? She is all round awesome, so I'm sure she must be part wench at least Grin

Well a visit would be fab, will have to see when I can next get time off. Likewise if anyone fancies a trip to Chateau Fancy when that sort of thing is allowed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/05/2021 21:01

Wenches should write the curriculum for everything - it would be so much more fun.

LetUsPrey · 09/05/2021 21:33

Whhhyyyyy do they do that Apricot - the commentary on everything from DHs? DH was telling me today about going for a run and that he’d be doing his stretches when he got back, he went for his run, and told me all about it when he got back and that he was going to do his stretches.

If you’re anything like my BestFriend Fancy, there’s always room for more plants Grin Good luck with the film.

How did it go Wicked?

Oh wench visits

LetUsPrey · 10/05/2021 07:46

Morning wenches.

Bit dull here but feels warmer.

Crap sleep and weird dreams - seems a popular theme.

Spanish with Aramis today

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2021 08:06

Morning all. Also dull here, though the sun is trying to break through. Wildlife report - birds. (Though I did see a grey wagtail yesterday (which is actually yellow - go figure) which was a nice surprise).
Slept ok but still v tired this morning.

DS has lost his school planner. Le disaster BIG sigh. Of course, he realised this about 1 minute before he needed to leave for the bus. Cue much flailing and rummaging around. I have texted today's timetable to him and got a text thanking me deathly silence in return, so I don't really feel like turning the house upside down to try and find it Hmm I also have a muntai of "Can you just..." emails to deal with.

Enjoy your Spanish lesson LetUs - I'm thinking I may enlist Athos for some practical biology lessons.

The viewing was cancelled, the one person that was coming had a friend that tested positive for covid. I’m never going to sell this f-ing place Sad

ApricotCrush · 10/05/2021 18:18

Evening. Oh dear. We had a torrential hail/rain storm this afternoon and the shoe cupboard flooded, again. DH isn't having much luck lately, he'd put a wire mesh thingy in a pipe to stop leaves going down and it was stopped up with moss and stuff and overflowed.

Bumper update: It now has to go into the shop to be sprayed. We went to take it this morning and the guy who's doing it said "Well actually you didn't need to get a new bumper, I could have got the damage out!" I could bloody kill DH for wasting money.

Anyway while we were out we went into the lovely historic market town nearby and had a nice walk around the 'castle' which is actually just huge tall walls which make the Leaning Tower of Pisa look vertical. How they stay up I don't know but I have a pic of DH taken when he was 19 by said castle walls and they haven't moved since. Interestingly on the board is said it was built by Aethelflaed daughter of Alfred the Great in 9-something to protect the town against the Vikings. Awesome.

Hope the Spanish film wasn't too bad Fancy.

Oh we get loads of those red ants Helen, they're horrible.

Hope you have a better night LetUs and sorry about the viewing WW. Sad

LetUsPrey · 10/05/2021 19:26

Evening wenches.

Thunder and rain here, although sunny now.

at MiniHelen.

You can definitely guarantee that Athos will employ a hands on approach to his teaching Helen.

Oh Wicked, that’s so shit Sad. You’ll get there lovely.

Further at MrApricot re the bumper.

That does sound awesome re the castle Apricot. I love stuff like that! I try to imagine just your general life going on and the people going about their lives at that time in the actual place where I’m standing (usually in a Scottish castle ruins when I’m imagining this) and my brain goes “no sorry, that doesn’t work for me”.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2021 20:16

Evening all. Aethelflaed is the one who ruled in her own name. #Wench Grin

FFS re the bumper minor fiasco. What is it with men and cars? DH is still swithering about replacing his. Hmm

Hang in there Wicked - it will sell, just give it time. Or can you rent it out and become a property magnate?

LOL at daily life in castles LetUs - my brain just goes straight to Highlander and Celia Imrie doing her best shrieking loon: "He's the devil - kill him!!" Which I'm sure wasn't meant to remind me so much of Monty Python Grin

Hope Fancy has had a nice day...

LetUsPrey · 11/05/2021 07:21

Morning wenches.

It seems to be sunny but I haven’t opened the curtains yet.

I loved HighlanderGrin

Sigh I suppose I’d better get up and wake up grumpy pants aka DS2.

that’s the extent of my gardening skills

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/05/2021 07:36

Morning all. It's lovely and sunny here - I've been out in my PJs feeding the birds, so definitely not at all cold.

DS found his planner (fallen under the bed with a corner of bedspreads lying on it). He has slouched off to the bus, and the day is mine to do with what I will spend working. Though I'm planning to go for a ride later, so that will be nice.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 11/05/2021 13:40

Had a nice day yesterday thanks - car went in for a service and nothing needed doing. Well not yet anyhow, will need new tyres soonish.

What a bugger ww, hope another viewing gets arranged soon.

Film was a bit Hmm, but not too bad - was at least funny in some parts.

Back in the office again, grappling with tax software Confused

ApricotCrush · 11/05/2021 17:44

Afternoon. Another thunder/hail storm this afternoon. I'm really getting fed up with this weather.

Oh gawd, one of my molars dropped out this morning. Shock Shock It's been loose for months so it's hardly a surprise and I may have helped it along a bit. It's an end one so I won't miss it. Grin

Yes Helen, Aethelflaed ruled as Lady of the Mercians after her husband the King died. She is much underrated in history having played a large part in ousting the Vikings including the Battle of WhereWeLive. She is depicted in The Last Kingdom, so we sort of 'know' her.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 11/05/2021 19:40

Evening wenches.

Suppose you’d rather be grappling with hardware Fancy?

Did you get out for your ride Helen?

Left work at 5 to skies that were sort of End Of Days. I swear I could feel the temperature dropping as I walked to the car park.

Eeek at tooth dropping out Apricot!

I like the sound of Aethelflaed! And I love that connection Apricot. I listened to an excellent series on BBC Sounds recently. It’s an Icelandic saga called Gudrun. All seven series are available. I particularly liked that each episode was only 15 minutes Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/05/2021 21:10

Evening all. I didn't get out for the ride LetUs - it got postponed, which was good for my productivity, but not for my exercising. Weather has been nice - no end of days here, fortunately. Maybe that was a hail.thunder effort that bypassed you and went to see Apricot instead?

Shock at the tooth falling out Apricot, though Grin at I may have helped it along a bit - nothing as satisfying as a wobbly tooth coming out. What's the going rate for teeth these days?

Yay for the car not needing and work Fancy.

I have, um, worked. That's about it really - not very exciting (apart from the news that Major Celebrity is busy filming and hasn't replied to me, but his agent will give him a nudge - which is only exciting because 'Major Celebrity'). Had a brief bike ride, which was a v. poor replacement for a horse.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 11/05/2021 21:32

Oooo at Major Celebrity! I think they should be as excited to have you doing the work.

DS2 has just realised he’s not done part of some revision homework which is due tomorrow. I’ve suggested he gets up early tomorrow to do it. He’s insisted on doing it now. It is apparently All My Fault (despite me reminding him “do a bit of revision each day”). And I’m completely unreasonable for not taking his school stuff upstairs so he can do the work on his bed and making him do it at the table. There is much grumbling and complaining and slamming about of stuff, and quite honestly I’m on the point of losing my temper because of his generally shitty attitude when things don’t go his way which the constant fucking muttering is not helping.

LetUsPrey · 11/05/2021 22:01

Thanks Fancy.

Homework is done and upset child has calmed down and should now be asleep.

I think I shall grab more vodka and take it up to the hayloft.

Morning wenches.

Thank you for the vodka, wine, 🍫 and everything last night.

Dull and rainy here, but a short day so there’s that.

FancyFancy · 12/05/2021 14:09

A few showers here - all my fault as I hung out washing last night so it would dry today Hmm, otherwise is Worky McWork.

DD has another test for A level assessments today, so keeping fingers crossed.

ApricotCrush · 12/05/2021 17:45

Evening. Still sun and showers here.

Nothing to report, boring day of housework and a bit of knitting.

Oooh at Major Celebrity. Shock

Hope FancyDD's test went well and MiniLetUs had a good day at school.

LetUsPrey · 12/05/2021 18:23

Evening wenches.

Hope FancyDD did well - I’m sure she did.

DS2 had another good day at school —it’s just at home he’s a bit of a PITA—

Currently thundering and raining.

Am watching Between The Covers from BBC2 which is basically a book club so now I have a massive list of even more books I want to read.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/05/2021 20:17

Oh no! More books? (Just as well I haven't seen it.)
