What date did you get married?

Just wondered when people got married and if there was any particular reason for choosing a certain date.

We got married on the 17th February. Nothing to do with it being near Valentines day. I get very hot and sweaty in the summer and didn't want a shiny face and wet armpits on my big day
Also its a bit of a miserable time of year as everyones getting fed up with the winter. Thought it would give everyone something to look forward to. Also we knew it would be cold so people didn't have to worry about what to wear (British summers are so unpredictable!)

I sound like I'm trying to justify my reasons for choosng February!

Wonder what is the most popular month?

Midsummer's day. That's the first date the house we had for the reception was available, but also seemed romantic. Rained all day though!

14th of October, not really sure apart from I quite like autumn and wanted to have a long sleeved dress (for some strange reason). As it was it was a lovely day, very summery and the photographer was struggling to find some fallen leaves for the photos.

Got married on 3rd August 1998. Think it was a mOnday ??? It was in Kenya on safari anyway, and it was so many days after arriving in the country (legal requirement).

Then had churh blessing and party in UK on 21st August (think it was anyway).

12th May - just liked the sound of it, even though it was on a Wednesday (very awkward for half our guests but we didn't think about that at the time... ah, well it was a very small wedding).
Very beautiful early summer day, though rather windy - hair in front of faces on photos.
Re February - love this month as it is my dd's birthday. It felt like the first day of spring when she was born (I'm getting v. soppy now...)

We got married on May 16th.

I'd always wanted to get married in May, don't know why. As it turned out we were going to Canada for a holiday in May and the 16th was during the week we were in the Rockies so we got married while we were there.

I wouldn't have liked getting married in the summer as I was a bridesmaid in July one year and it really hot and humid and I just felt uncomfortable all day in my dress. Was a good wedding though. And knowing my luck if I had got married in the summer it would probably have rained. All I had to watch out for on my wedding day was snow

My dh wanted to get married on my birthday (11th October) but i had awful concerns about a black cloud over my bday forever so compromised and chose 4th october 2003 instead! Now i get 2 nights out in 2 weeks! ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY ON 4th OCTOBER and its true what they say, the first year is the hardest!!!!!!!!!

We chose September (beginning of) for various reasons -
-supposed to be the driest month of the year (it rained, but not much!)
-last w/e before schools went back (we lived in England then), so we thought most people would be back from holidays then
-gave me enough time after finishing my degree to concentrate on getting ready for the wedding, without too much time to get bogged down

  • my BIL, and both my two brothers, got married on the same w/e (but different years!!!!!), for much the same reasons as us (apart from the third one!)

14th September - because we had already booked a holiday for a few days after so decided to make that the honeymoon on the cheap

28th August...Bank Holiday weekend, so more family likely to travel from the ends of the country.

1999, because I wanted to be married before I was 30! Not sure why now!!

8th August 1998, we new we wanted to get married sometime that year and we came up with the 8th 0f the 8th 1998, thought dh would remember anniversary (it's worked so far )

April 15th. Should have been August, but I crashed my car and me and my dh could not get to see each other. So brought the wedding drastically forward and got married within 6 wks!!!!!!!! (mad mad mad)

Oooooooooh Linnet - maried on my birthday!! Good choice! As for me and dh, it was 3 July - really wanted July (reasonable hope of dryish weather in N Ireland) and 3rd was only Saturday available.

July 2 1994.

Because I finished my degree at Uni about 3 weeks before. I wanted a little bit of time for final preparations, but not too long because I was in the UK, he was in the US, and we had been apart for long enough already.
