Hello

Thought I'd better do a new one cos 'chat' threads go after 90 days

OP posts:
PenelopePissedup · 28/08/2007 20:08

piriton? for chicken pox?

PenelopePissedup · 28/08/2007 20:10

also...hasnt everyone got a 1/3 chance of contracting cancer? we're doing loads of stuff for Macmillan at work.

worleyhurley · 28/08/2007 20:21

one of our consultants says that everyone has cancer, it is only activated in certain people. dont know how close to the truth that is? havnt really looked in to it, you just reminded me of when he was going on about it in the staff room a few weeks ago, we all tend to switch off when he starts talking though..

had a brilliant day at the bewilderwwod place today, ds1 in bed all worn out, ds2 refusing to go to sleep at the moment, i think he got fed up in his buggy all day.

off to ondon tomorrow, i put a link uo for idears pf places to go tomorrow but not many replies so far..

sorry, got carried away with the return button then i think

JennsterBubsLayer · 28/08/2007 20:51

Lifetime risk of Breast cancer in general population is 1 in 12, but personally it is likely to be 1 in 3. Think lifetime risk of any cancer includes all the bowl cancers old people get that shoots the rate up. I'm not too concerned as I'm young, but forewarned is forearmed. My aunty has had it twice in both breasts and consequently had a double oophorectomy.

Macdog · 29/08/2007 12:12

Macpup been fine. We give a dose of Medised at bedtime and are using an aqueous calamine cream. Fingers crossed that it's going to be mild. Thanks for the Piriton tip, will bear it in mind if she gets worse.

Loving the new name, Penelope

Have a good time in London, Worley

Off out to get antiseptic powder for The Real Macdog's cut paw. I'll bung dd in her backpack, it's only a couple of miles and it's a really lovely day for a walk

I've put some new pics up, let me know if you can't see them (that means you - compulsive namechanger )

OP posts:
PenelopePissedup · 29/08/2007 16:13

I love love love changing my name!

well...hope macpup feels better and doesnt scratch! this age is a great time for her to have it really, ...

took bub to M&T, and for once met a nice other mum! her name is virtually the same as mine and both our husbands are engineers and have the same name...she lives 5 min away from me s p o o k y

worley you are the daytrip queen!

Jenn - sorry when I re-read my post I sounded a bit flippant, didnt mean to do that. You are right about being forarmed, my mums best frind had a double mastectomy and skin cancer at seperate times, she is in remission at the mo but has led a very booze filled and heavy smoking life, my neighbour has lung cancer but hers is starting to be in remission fingers crossed, its a serious disease but the total key is early diagnosis, every specialist agrees with that, and being aware means you can keep checking.

PenelopePissedup · 29/08/2007 16:15

pics are great MD, Ill try and add a few of dd to mine now...my profile struggles to keep up with my moniker!

Jennster · 29/08/2007 16:21

Yeah there is loads of cancer in my family. Breast being the main one on both sides, but hmm not nice.

Have my profile page up again and new photos and info.

PenelopePissedup · 29/08/2007 16:30

hooray just downloaded some pics of dd at last! the MN site is a helluva lot slower than facebook...but at least it works now...

PenelopePissedup · 29/08/2007 16:31

| cant see your pics Jenn?

Jennster · 29/08/2007 16:41

Where the flip are they?

Jennster · 29/08/2007 16:55

Well they are there when I click on photos, and my profile is public, and they are visible to my mumsnet mates so where are they?

Macdog · 29/08/2007 17:49

Can't see them either Jenn

Loving the pic of yer dd in the rain, Pen

I am knackered!!!!!!!
Walked about 7 miles with dd on my back and got bus home. My feet/legs are killing me .
She had a lovely nap, however so that's something

OP posts:
Jennster · 29/08/2007 19:30

It's weird because usually there is a line on the bottom that says photos, and if there aren't any, a message comes up saying either they are restricted photos or there aren't any..... That line is missing from my profile. When I click photos on my profile they are there...

Macdog · 30/08/2007 12:07

OW.....OW.....OW.....OW

Pain....bad....hurts....to .....walk

dd will be mainly entertaining herself today

OP posts:
Jennster · 30/08/2007 12:27

Oh dear Macdog. Walking gives you buns of steel though! I need to stop eating sweets (on top of a very healthy diet) and get out more.

Have been for a walk today. Nice to get out of the house, but I'm really missing having a car at my disposal. I can't complain because DH gets them through his work and is looking for a suitable second hand one, but in the mean time I'm stuck not being able to go shopping or swimming because dh has the car.

PenelopePissedup · 30/08/2007 16:14

yes, Id be absolutely lost without my car, I have no idea where to get a bus from round here, or where one would take me (MCR I assume, but there's also a lot of random places ie Withington, Swinton, Flixton etc etc )

ooh 7 miles is too far even for a Macdog!!!
I walked for a fast 40mins with dd until she fell asleep and Im pooped! that could only have been 1 mile, if Im lucky!

Ive put on 2lbs with the Inlaws buying us a load of crap aka trifle/cakes/biscuits so I am on a few strict days to lose it again. Still need to lose 2 stone...

Macdog · 30/08/2007 17:21

Can now move a bit better

I can't drive so I walk/cycle/bus/train during week. Really lucky here cos we at junction of the 2 main railway lines and have loads of buses. Best thing about this town is the number of ways to get out of it

Having said that, I LOVE weekends when dh drives us round for a while

OP posts:
Jennster · 30/08/2007 17:21

You and me both ppu! What about doing weigh ins every Friday or what ever day suits you. You will beat me hands down as not really going to try too hard with bf but having it down in black and white sometimes galvanises you. Of course you might not want to share your weight with us

Jennster · 30/08/2007 17:34

We are near buses, but I'm not very confident getting on and off them with a buggy. Also the buggy rather than the pram is horrendous to push with my b ack.

Jennster · 30/08/2007 17:46

I'm onto tech with my photo problem too

Jennster · 30/08/2007 19:24

Right you can see me now!
