book it then you'll HAVE to read it

yes i tend to rush things in my lesson too...IKWYM about not wanting to piss off other drivers- i know they all hate me. people don't normally do anything that bad when you're in your instructor's car though do they? different matter with 'L's' on unfortunately.
though i did find when i did some driving in norfolk the other week that there are some VERY slow drivers on the road and it can be hard to keep a good distance (I did try though)-i actually found it quite stressful in a way...

duomonstermum · 22/06/2007 18:21

Driving test day is the worse

Beauregard · 27/06/2007 11:05

xx

Carmenere · 27/06/2007 12:17

sorry ladies, I've been on holiday. I passed only just, but a pass all the same and so now have to book the practical!

lou33 · 27/06/2007 12:18

congrats carmen

Beauregard · 27/06/2007 12:18

yay

lulumamasmentee · 27/06/2007 13:21

a big fat fail here I'm afraid

only 2 minors but 1 serious for touching the kerb. I really thought I had passed cause the car hardly touched the kerb at all (during turn in the road).

I'm really annoyed now cause I had a hard test, first off he made me open the bonnet up for one of the show me tell me questions, which my driving instructor couldn't believe cause i'm 8 odd months pregnant then the test consisted of most of the huge roundabouts in town and I had to do a proper emergency stop cause some idiot pulled out of a junction on us (he should of passed me just for that!) and then to fail cause I touched a kerb.

But I have booked it again for the end of July but will have to keep checking for earlier cancellations cause the baby will probably be here by then.

aaarrrrrgggghhhhh what a waste of nearly £100

CatIsSleepy · 27/06/2007 13:26

oh lmm
what a bugger! sounds harsh to me...seems so silly to fail for bumping into the kerb (it's not like once you've passed your test you'll never do that kind of thing is it).
am supposed to be booking a test for end of july but i know it will be a complete nightmare. and a waste of money. boo.
harumph.

CatIsSleepy · 27/06/2007 13:27

btw what's with the opening the bonnet thing? my instructor has never mentioned anything like that to me. do you have to know which bits of the engine are which ?

lulumamasmentee · 27/06/2007 13:28

the money thing just makes it bloody worse doesn't it? that really is £100 just down the drain

lulumamasmentee · 27/06/2007 13:30

just before your test you have to answer two "show me tell me" questions ie where is the brake fluid how can you tell if it needs topping up? where is the oil, how do you check if its at the right level? Theres about 13 questions and only 4 of them involve you opening the bonnet, my driving instructor said he thought I wouldn't have to do it cause theres so many other questions that he could of asked which didn't involve lifting up a hot, dirty, heavy bonnet

CatIsSleepy · 27/06/2007 14:16

omg lmm my instructor has never mentioned anything like that. will tackle her about this next lesson!

agree it was very mean to make a heavily pregnant lady do that!

think you are v brave...i was too chicken to learn when i was pregnant even though it would have helped alot. fingers crossed you have another go before the baby arrives!

lulumamasmentee · 27/06/2007 17:34

i'm just gonna have to keep checking for cancellations.

if you put show me tell me into google it comes up with the list of questions and answers, you can start practising now!!

lou33 · 27/06/2007 18:06

i didnt get the run through about the show me tell me stuff until a couple of lessons before my test

Carmenere · 27/06/2007 18:07

My instructor told me that he will do that stuff a couple of lessons before the practical, maybe that is standard.

lulumamasmentee · 27/06/2007 18:32

think it is, my di did give me a list of the questions on our first driving lesson to learn, but didn't physically go through it till a lesson before my test, believe me it's the easiest bit!

Carmenere · 27/06/2007 19:23

Right, I have booked my practical test. Thursday the 9th June at 10.24(wtf is the exact time thing). Fingers crossed for a great lesson tommorow!!!
