just got another cancellation, so next test is 1st August

can't believe it's test number 4

thanks cat, i've cheered up a bit now!

CatIsSleepy · 17/07/2007 15:06

maybe 4's your lucky number crumpets

glad you're feeling better!

was wondering, would it be better if we didn't ask next time? if you just came on and told us you'd passed-?

hotcrumpets · 17/07/2007 16:55

no its fine, ask away, you are the only people who know I even did my test (apart from DP) so it's nice to be asked

can't believe i've got to do it for the 4th time

MrsSlowLearner · 17/07/2007 19:43

Sorry to hear about your test hotcrumpets
I think you are fab anyway cos you are brave enough just doing the test
Good luck for the next one!

My lesson today was ok but i still feel a bit about it all at the moment, there is soooo much to take in all of the time .
Have my theory in about 3 weeks and i never seem to get chance to swat up.

My instructor has told me to book my test, but I cant seem to bring myself to do it, someone kick me up the arse

MrsSlowLearner · 18/07/2007 20:36

Well you did ask!

OP posts:
queenrollo · 19/07/2007 08:05

i have never been nervous about an exam in my entire life.......but i am starting to worry about my test. i have some rescue remedy but was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? my driving instructor said a couple of his students have used Kalms....anyone tried them?

my lesson on Tues was rubbish....i had a headache and couldn't concentrate at all. the good news is because our test centre has moved to new premises and the car park isn't ready i don't have to do the bay parking.

totaleclipse · 19/07/2007 10:05

ARGHHHHHHHHHH, I have just booked my test, nothing was available until 1st October, thats the day before my birthday!!!!!!!!!!

CatIsSleepy · 19/07/2007 15:32

queenrollo good news re bay-parking

incidentally my test-centre has moved too so has not been taking bookings...I need to check whether it's ready to take test-bookings now but have been putting it off out of sheer cowardice!

Squirrel3 · 20/07/2007 12:36

Hello, today was my driving test. It was raining so hard that the road was more like swimming pool! Then the thunder, then the lightening!!!!!!

When we got back to the test centre the examiner turned to me and started to say something (I was already convinced I had failed and was 'beating myself up for making silly mistakes) "Mrs Squirrel, Look at me" he says, I turn and look at him waiting for that word fail, then he smiles and tells me that I have passed!!!

"What!" I reply, I just about stopped myself from arguing with him and saying "What about when I did this? and what about when I did that?"

I still can't believe it, I passed first time!

And.... If I can pass anyone can! Good luck everyone.

Now how do I stop this silly grin.........

saffy202 · 20/07/2007 13:35

Very well done Mrs Squirrel

I passed on my 4th go yesterday and grinned like a loon all day. DS2 woke me up this morning crawling into our bed and my first thought was "OMG I'm a driver" .

Have just been on my first solo drive, took me an hour to reverse off the drive as I kept thinking 'I can't do this' and went back into the house a few times

Not sure whether to put the green 'P's on or not.

CatIsSleepy · 20/07/2007 13:37

congratulations squirrel !!

have just booked mine

(feel a bit sick now...)

queenrollo · 20/07/2007 13:50

congrats squirrel and saffy!!

Squirrel3 · 20/07/2007 13:56

Congrats Saffy. I am still undecided about green 'P's too, (ok, no jokes about eating to much asparagus please lol ) views on the use of them would be useful tia.

CatIsSleepy, seriously if I can pass you can, you will be fine, we will all be thinking of you, good luck.

MrsSlowLearner · 20/07/2007 21:38

Congratulations Squirrel and Saffy

It occurred to me whilst i was on my lesson this morning that i don't feel confident at all.It all seems like so much responsibilty with so many consequences and i don't feel like i can juggle everything eg the reading the road, driving the car, road signs etc.

OP posts:
CatIsSleepy · 21/07/2007 09:58

IKWYM mrs S...it's not just the actual mechanics of driving is it...that's the least of it really. am quite paranoid that once am let loose on the road i'll do something silly because have not been observant enough (i worry about cyclists in particular)

totaleclipse · 21/07/2007 12:08

I have a very bad habit of running red lights, and not knowing which speed limit I am in, must learn to read the road more.

CatIsSleepy · 21/07/2007 13:13

ugh I'm depressed just did mock test with my instructor and I was bleedin' terrible

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 21/07/2007 13:21

Mrs S - Would you try hypnotherapy? You seem to know exactly what scares you. Maybe this would help abate your fears

Mossy · 21/07/2007 13:49

Hello, can I join?

I am having driving lessons at the moment after stopping and starting several times (the lessons, I mean, not the car, although that happens too), the latest being after the birth of ds, three months ago - it took me til he was ten weeks to pluck up the courage to start again.

Finding it harder to drive though with the lack of sleep...

MrsSlowLearner · 21/07/2007 20:19

Welcome Mossy
Well done you for braving the lessons with a small baby!

CatIsSleepy-I think it is the observation thing that worries me the most to be honest.A few times i have gone to pull out from junctions and just as i have gone to emerge a car comes from nowhere.

Margo-Dunno about hypnotherapy
my head is screwed up enough

No lessons for a week for me as instructor is on holiday so i am going to read up for my theory test.

OP posts:
MrsSlowLearner · 21/07/2007 20:20

Sympathy to CatIsSleepy for the mock test!

OP posts:
CatIsSleepy · 21/07/2007 22:45

thanks mrs S...it's knocked my confidence...need to sharpen up!

bluestringsoup · 21/07/2007 22:57

Hello - can I join you?? Have been learninto drive for what seems like forever! (wont say quite how long, but could have bought the car!) Really enjoy my lessons, have fun, and can usually go manuovers etc - sometimes loose the plot, bt general drive ok - just realy hat roundabouts - freeze up and dont want to go/ dont trust other cars and their indications! So sit there like an idiot, talking to myself! Have passed theory and have got first test booked for 8th August - omg thats soon - really want to do it, but very scared and worried - anyone got any tips/ words of advice/ reassurance?!

Mossy · 23/07/2007 11:09

MrsSlowLearner my problem is observations too; I just don't seem to notice what's going on around me! Driving lesson today at four... arrgh!!

bluestringsoup no tips but good luck!!
