After a brief discussion dp and I can't come up with anything better than testes. Can you?

we use all kinds of words, but mostly testicles. Also, we have mentioned that there is a "special tube called a vagina that babies pop out of. BUT, I have trouble with what to call my daughters "area" - there just doesn't seem to be a girly phase that takes the entire "package" into consideration. We have used "Twinkle" (we got that from heat magazine) but we have a neighbor that like to call people "twinkle". And don't get me started on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"...

eachpeachnallyplum · 10/05/2007 23:11

ds (almost 4) calls them nuts!

ChocolateFace · 10/05/2007 23:11

so go for testes, and say some people call them other things.
I wasn't suggesting that you were showing his porn vids, I was explaning my use of the word graphic.
From what you have said we have probably approched it much the same way.
DS also asked to see mine (in the legs wide open rather that the general glimpses he sees when in the bath, putting mooncup in etc) and I also declined.
Explainations of mooncups to 4yo's are fun too, he was very interested in this as my periods have just started again after nearly 2 years.

FrannyandZooey · 11/05/2007 12:07

Ds is probably the only 4 year old I know who can identify the different sizes of Mooncup from the picture on the packet

(he helped me pack up the last lot that I sent off to MNers)

he has left the subject of his genitalia alone so far for today

OP posts:
ChasingSquirrels · 11/05/2007 12:09

ah but has he left THEM alone though? Or is he already a typical man with hand down pants ! Better go and get mine from per-school.

PinkTulips · 11/05/2007 12:09

his balls and his penis (i can't say willy or pee pee without falling on the floor laughing so we settled on penis as at least being the most accurate!)

FrannyandZooey · 11/05/2007 12:11

he still has his pjs on, so everything is far too much to hand to leave them alone

My little boy is only 10 wks old, but so far we refer to his testicles as "the boys". May have to rethink this when he's older.

janinlondon · 11/05/2007 12:32

Is it just me? I thought testes or testicles were the organs located INSIDE the scrotum. You can't see them??? Surely this would be analagous to calling a girl's bits her cervix? Or am I talking balls....?

IdrisTheDragon · 11/05/2007 12:34

Haven't read thread but have a 3.5 DS and have been wondering. Balls I should think (although have somehow avoided the issue somehow).

hayes · 11/05/2007 12:35

balls and willie

Thank God Speccy! I thought I had spent years in a fog of misunderstanding. Though of course the number of people who refer to the vulva as the vagina......eeek!

wurlywurly · 11/05/2007 12:40

ds1 calls them his "biscuits", I dont know where he has got it from.

sorry speccy, used my grandfather's name there yes willy

foxinsocks · 11/05/2007 12:52

lol at this

we call them (well ds calls them) his balls. Though sometimes he calls them his jacksons (because that's what dh calls them grrr - jackson pollocks geddit).

Franny - there's an excellent book (I think it's by Usborne, I'll have to check if I can find it) called 'now that I'm growing up' or something like that. It's very factual, has one book for boys, one for girls (mine read both of them, totally absorbed!). It's probably too old for your ds now but maybe when he's 6 or 7.

ernest · 11/05/2007 13:01

goolies in our house.

I think balls sound horrid tbh, and not far behind bollox, an ugly adult word, on a par with 'cock'. yuk. not for little boys,

FrannyandZooey · 11/05/2007 13:02

Oh FIS that sounds interesting

ds has an Usborne book about how the body works which he really likes

OP posts:
ruty · 11/05/2007 13:04
