After a brief discussion dp and I can't come up with anything better than testes. Can you?

ds is 13 we refer to them in this house as
nadgers

Spidermama · 10/05/2007 21:25

Balls.

I agree that testicles is an extremely foolish word.

Lizzylou · 10/05/2007 21:26

Nadgers is fab!

FrannyandZooey · 10/05/2007 21:26

Do the boyberry type crowd never worry that your dses will need to use an understandable word one day to another adult? Eg an injury at school etc

"My wanglers are hurting"

the teacher will be thinking wtf??

the special cuddle can include a brief description, but isn't he 3? so a graphic description is hardly appropriate. And isn't it special? surely we should also be teaching them about the emotional aspects involved?

Piffle · 10/05/2007 21:27

or goolies as in got kicked in the gin gan goolies

stressteddy · 10/05/2007 21:28

Franny - if a teacher doesn't put 2 and 2 together and kbow what boyberries are they he/she shouldn't be a teacher?????/

MuminBrum · 10/05/2007 21:30

I know, F&Z, we will have to introduce a more sensible word at some point, and I think we'll go for balls.

MerryMarigold · 10/05/2007 21:30

kittypants, I LOVE boyberries. may have to be that. my dh speaks tamil and their word for the whole package is very long - but involves the letters 'k' and 'j' so we will prob opt for 'the kj' in this house.

i recently found out that one of my 'sweet names' for ds is actually the very crude word for 'penis' in punjabi - oops, and there are quite a few punjabi speakers round here!!!

apeainapod, the 'tickle-tackle' is what the father in 'east is east' calls his son's willy.

FrannyandZooey · 10/05/2007 21:30

He is 4

he knows mummies and daddies love one another, he just wants to know how the seed gets in there and I doubt he will be fobbed off with special cuddles

The last interesting chat we had at 7.05 pm was how does the baby come OUT. I ended up giving a very graphic demonstration involving a Tiny Tears doll and the sleeve of my cardi

I don't see why a clear description is inappropriate at any age tbh

I don't tell him these things until he asks, but when he wants to know, he wants to know

Testicles is a good word. In our house we call mini plum tomatoes, testicle tomatoes. Imagine Granny's face when we went to tea and DS1 said " Oh good, testicle tomatoes"!

pointydog · 10/05/2007 21:33

I've never gone the special cuddle, personally. Matter-of-fact this is what happens, as basic as poss the younger they are.

ChocolateFace · 10/05/2007 21:34

er yes, F&Z.

I didn't say it shouldn't be clear, I said graphic, I wasn't implying you shouldn't include details of what goes where. isn't it often as part of some sort of cuddle, apart from the quick and dirty - which is the graphic side he doesn't need. I think the special cuddle bit comes in because its not something that the man and woman do, for example, in the supermarket!
Where Willy Went is really quite a good book, has pics of the insides and also a bit of genetics.

Piffle · 10/05/2007 21:35

pls say no someone
My ds1 is an adolescent
I cannot look at him knowing he is making seeds it's just wrong, he is my darling boy

SoMuchToBits · 10/05/2007 21:35

I agree with you F & Z - no point fobbing them of, when they ask it's because they want to know. Fortunately ds hasn't asked yet (probably because he is far more interested in fire engines, trains and diggers!) but he is reading so much now, I dread the time when he reads the advert on the local bus which says "You don't have to be homphobic to work here but it helps" and then asks what homophobic means, or similarly there are public service posters in the bus about help for rape victims etc.

pointydog · 10/05/2007 21:36

@ the quick and dirty

NotanOtter · 10/05/2007 21:36

you need books!!!
this 'lets talk' range of books is fab

Tatties · 10/05/2007 21:39

Yes NAO, you're right, I saw this recently and am keeping it in mind for when ds is a bit older
