Evening Phalanx.
There's a fair bit to catch up on but I'll try to be as brief as possible.
Best friend arrived at midnight on Saturday. I think we went to bed just before 04.00 am. The visit went very well although my friend was very upset at how much more frail I am now compared to when she last saw me in early May. She and her daughter left on Tuesday afternoon.
I had my Liver Clinic appointment on Thursday. I'll C&P my Facebook report on that day:
I bought my ticket at Telford at 07.52 and stepped straight on to the 07.53 train arriving at New Street station just after 08.30. I went for breakfast at one of the restaurants in Grand Central (not MaccyD). Whilst eating something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. There was a frolicking mouse. I discreetly called the waitress over and informed her. When I finished and went to pay I was told that the manager had instructed that my breakfast was on the house.
I then continued on to the QE and checked in for my appointment. Clinic was running 45 minutes late. When I saw the surgeon he said that the MRI showed that the suspect area was still present but had reduced in size. There is also mention in the report about some lymph nodes but I need to discuss that with my oncologist before saying any more about that. I sweet talked him to letting me have a copy of the MRI report. I also asked him about my little bulge. He palpated my abdomen and confirmed my suspicion that it's a post surgical hernia. I will have a further MRI in 4 months but I'm not scheduled to see the surgeon until early 2017. If there is anything of concern on the next MRI they will call me back sooner.
I caught the train back to Telford and then drove to Shrewsbury. I popped in to the Chemo Day Centre to pick up a bloods form. I also got them to photocopy the MRI report so my oncologist can see it asap.
I'm not at all sure if this is moving forward, slipping backward or just standing still.
My chemo on Friday was cancelled as 1) my platelet count has fallen to 84 and 2) I've had a cold (which thankfully seems to be tailing off now). I've been re-scheduled for next Thursday, 28 July. I fully expect that one to be cancelled as well. My platelet count has been declining for several months now and it's not going to magically jump back above 100 (which is still well below the bottom of the normal range but is the cut off for chemo treatment) in 6 days.
When I've not been running around to hospitals I've been sleeping a lot. My chest and blocked nose are improving. I feel marginally better than I did a few days ago but I'm still way under par.
Hello rest of my life.
