??

Hello everyone!

Brilliant idea to put the net in other topics so it's easier to find.

4 weeks and 3 days to my wedding! Eek!

How are you all?

XxxX

NoWittyName · 22/02/2012 19:48

nom nom nom...oops...sorry...lemon meringue pie all gone Blush

blondies are basically a cheat's version of cookies - you make the mixture, shove the whole lot in a baking tray to bake in one go and then cut into fingers after - gooey heaven (however, possibly not great to gluttonise on so close to wedding!)

lovely to see you again on MN!

xx

Yay!! Hello everyone! I've missed you.

I don't know if it's wine o'clock where you are, it deffo isn't here, but I don't care. Wine

mangomousse · 22/02/2012 20:42

Hi Ladies, I've missed this thread, so it's good to be back.

NoWittyName · 22/02/2012 21:59

Well ladies, seeing as I think I've sorted out both my lessons for tomorrow and the homeworks I'm going to be sending home, I think I can allow myself some time here!

I'd love this to be the point where I start regaling you with the tales of greatly exciting things that I've been up to since we all last 'met', but I'm afraid there hasn't exactly been anything!

Thank G life generally been good. Had the usual viral few weeks (including me having hand foot and mouth caught from some little darlings at school!) but that's about as exciting as it gets.

What have you lot been up to?

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 23/02/2012 01:55

Nothing much exciting here. Big highlight of last few weeks has been that I've had laser vision correction, actually a re-treatment since I had LASIK 16 years ago. This time I had PRK, which takes about 6 weeks to stabilize. The first three days sucked!!! I couldn't see anything. Then on the third day things got a bit better. It's doing pretty well right now. I live not having to wear my glasses while driving!!

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 23/02/2012 06:23

Ooo blondies sound goooood. I am on a mega strict diet though untill the wedding coz the pills I'm on make me put weight on. I miss cake :( thank g for mn treats :D

NoWittyName · 23/02/2012 19:22

SBKS - Isn't it a bummer that things that are 'good for us' can be so crap to us too? Just think of all the delicious things you can have after your big day!! So, details please.

Jacks - is your vision back to normal now? Can't imagine how difficult it must be being blurry all the time.

mango - hiya!

Jacksmania · 24/02/2012 03:36

Hi all, crazy busy day at work and the bloody internet was out so I couldn't even check in here during my break. Agh. What a day.

Vision is doing ok. Far vision much better than close which is quite the reversal for me! My eyes cross a bit when I try to look at anyone up close. Fortunately I've given up reading for pleasure for Lent, so that hasn't really been an issue (although I'm missing it terribly so it's not helping my mood).

It's so nice to chat with you all again!
Where Onion? Or Cup, rather... want me to try to PM her?

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 24/02/2012 13:27

Yeah pm cup and pinot too :)

I have been on mission clean the house today. (kids are at pil house) I've even wiped down skirting boards and washed windows! Have almost caught up with the washing too just one more load to do. Does anyone else have a never ending mountain of laundry to do and laundry to put away?gets on my nerves.

Pork in spicy yoghurt sauce for tea tonight from my Rosemary Conley diet book. Hope it's nice not made it before.

Any nice plans for the weekend? Dp is off on his stag do tomo. I'm going to indulge and have a take away once the girls go off to bed.....or maybe I'll have a healthy tea but get myself a nice piece of cake....hmm decisions decisions!

mangomousse · 24/02/2012 15:44

Hiya ladies, just spent the best part of my morning off in the supermarket - why do my family need to eat so much? Have managed to put away the freezer stuff but the rest it strewn across the kitchen so I had better stir myself and go and put it away, what's the betting I find something that should be in the freezer lurking at the bottom of a carrier.

Am off out tonight on a GNO with some of the mums from school, we are going for a curry so nice and relaxed and I am really looking forward to it except that I have the period from hell at the moment. Oh well, not going to stop me going out!

Then the rest of the weekend is going to be devoted to DH and DS as they all require my taxi services at some stage this weekend.

What's everybody else up to?

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/02/2012 17:51

How was your GNO mango?

My mum has the girls so I'm having my friend round and we're having a bottle of wine or four while dp is off on his stag do. Fingers crossed he comes home with two eyebrows and with his clothes lol.

mangomousse · 25/02/2012 18:06

GNO was good thanks, we went to a local Indian restaurant and had a curry and a good natter and laugh. Just what was needed. Spent the morning as a taxi service and the afternoon watching rugby. Now trying to console an ardent 13 year old England fan. Wonder how long it will be before he realises that supporting England is an emotional rollercoaster ride Grin

Jacksmania · 25/02/2012 19:01

Aargh, it's been a )!,)$))!&!!! week. Also, I have pmt. that makes everything crap. Sorry to be a downer.

NoWittyName · 25/02/2012 19:29

Evening Ladies!

Jacks - really sorry to hear things are being )!,)$))!&!!!

SBKS - fancy coming over and doing my place? Could do with a good going over.

My weekend so far has been lovely. We do the whole Jewish Sabbath thing which is just a really fab way of ensuring there are 25 solid hours in a week with no TV, DS, computer, IPod etc. (which is also why i never manage to clock in until Sat night) and just being with friends and family. Had the in-laws and parents over for supper last night and have had sis and bro in law and 2 of her kids here for afternoon tea. Shabbat is out (hence me being on computer) and number 1 is catching up on TV! No plans for tomorrow except for hubbie going out for bike ride at 7.

When is your dp due home SBKS? Fill us in on gory details when he returns! Mango - does your young man get truly upset with the footie? Number 1 gets properly 'hurt' when Arsenal lose!?!? I can never decide whether I should console him or tell him to just bloody get over it!

Anyway. What are people planning on watching this weekend? I am v upset that Call the Midwife has ended - loved every second of it!

No doubt pop in later this evening to see if anyone else is sad enough to be hanging out on MN on a Sat night.

xx

mangomousse · 25/02/2012 20:44

Hi NWN I'm lurking around tonight.

Both the DS's are ardent rugby fans and get really upset when either England or their team lose. Both play and as they get older and it gets tougher I get more scared - in fact DS1 would love to be a professional rugby player but we'll let that bubble burst itself!

TV on a Saturday night isn't good - I'm not into Casualty etc and don't fancy an intellectual documentary so something like Call the Midwife would be just right. Hey ho, have to lurk here instead Grin

NoWittyName · 25/02/2012 21:24

Oh I'm a Casualty addict (and Holby City on Tue night). Quite looking forward to Upstairs Downstairs too - although I missed the first episode. TBH I enjoy most TV Blush. I'm sure I could lose a few days sitting bog-eyed if I didn't have little people, a job and a hubbie!

My brother used to play rugby at school but his worst injury happened when he wasn't playing, but was running up the touchline, got a stud caught in his lace, fell and broke his collarbone!! Not exactly the rugby accident we'd all been fearing!

OP posts:

Hi all, just wanted to pop in and reassure you that I am in fact fine, just being my usual self which means I stress out over stupid shit :o

Was dealing with a work-related PITA, it's too difficult to explain when you've had wine but I might try tomorrow when I'm sober but it will hopefully all work out with less hassle than I thought.

DH just made me cry. But it's not his fault so nobody needs to scream "leave the bastard" because he really is lovely :o. He reminded me that we had booked some time off in May but that instead of doing what we had planned, we should save the plans until the fall when the weather gets crappy and rainy here, and that I should take that time to go away somewhere with my mum or a girlfriend because "(I) you need a break". I heard "you should go away for a while and fix yourself because you are not doing a good enough job around here". It's not his fault that I never feel adequate and always know feel he is the better parent and that I need could do better.
It's not his fault that I am broken and he loves me in spite of my brokenness.
So, just to clarify, what he meant was that he gets very frequent breaks, courses and seminars and guys' weekends away (last year he was away for six weeks total) and I never do because I couldn't possibly allow myself to do something just for me, oh no, I don't deserve that!!. And he thinks I should. Because he is a sweetheart.

Apparently in Hindu mythology there is a goddess whose name means "the goddess of never-not-broken". It's Akilandeshvari. She is the "always broken" goddess, and she is super-cool because she rides a crocodile. Cool ride, huh? Anyway, I learned about her in some yoga-related woo class (don't hold it against me) and thought, wow, they really have it figured out, they don't just have their major deities, they've even got gods and goddesses for people like me!

Ummm... I just read everything I typed, and it's wine-induced honesty that I may very well regret tomorrow morning, so in a minute this post is either going to go down in history or disappear.

NWN, your Sabbath sounds lovely. I wish I could teleport myself to yours and be the Shabbat guest.

NoWittyName · 26/02/2012 11:30

Don't let it disappear!!! Honesty can be hugely cathartic (okay, and can be embarrassing, but your one isn't) and that is exactly why we're the safety net, and not the 'let's roast you and judge you for everything you say' net. (not quite so catchy!)

Anytime you happen to be in Leeds on a Friday night or Saturday (which I can imagine happens ever so frequently) then you are more than welcome to be our guest! Wink

Apologies for prolific use of brackets, I seem to go in phases!

Happy Sunday everyone. I've just done a 20%water change in my fish tank. Have set it up since Safety Net petered out and am LOVING it!

Hi all, love being here again, somewhere I can be completely honest and not have to glam up to be witty to be online! Feel this is a real trackpants and sloppy jumper gang but of course we can be witty and sophisticated too (occasionally) but it really doesn't matter. Some of the other threads out there just plain scare me!

I've had a lovely morning standing in the sun and mud watching my boys play rugby and yes I had a great bit white bread bacon sandwich dripping with brown sauce and a big mug of tea with a sugar in it - god I'm a rebel!! We've just had sunday lunch - more piggery - and now I'm going to slump on the sofa and watch Scotland v France. Not many places I could admit to all those sins!!!

NoWittyName · 26/02/2012 16:21

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Jacksmania · 27/02/2012 05:44

Hi all, a little too much wine last night :o
Oh well.
Very productive Sunday. Got all those pesky things cleared off my to-do list. Weird weather: v cold (for us), and alternating sun and hail(!!).
JB made me laugh, he asked "Mummy, why is it raining ice cubes?" :o
Night. See you all tomorrow!

CupOfBrownJoy · 27/02/2012 07:30

I found you finally!!!

I'm in work at the moment and have had no internet at home for the last 3 weeks (grrrr) so when I've got a second I'll have a proper catch up with you all - just marking my place for now....

Hope everyone is well xxxxxxx

NoWittyName · 27/02/2012 10:33

ok, so I've got about 3 minutes before the little horrors dears come in from breaktime....

I've just come back from a week's skiing, first real holiday with DP. It was, well, mixed... I had a fab time catching up with old friends and skiing my little heart out. DP managed a whole 2.5 days of ski school then wimped out hurt himself and morphed into the whinyest patient in the world for the rest of the week. I seriously nearly left him......

Anyway, back at school now and I've got an interview tomorrow for a job nearer DP for once we are married and moved in, so I'll be spending the rest of today preparing for that....

Argh bell's gone!! Will be back later.....
