now I really must be going and put my (partly minging) Pizza in the oven - I'm supposed to be going to a rehearsal in an hour - taking the boys with me!

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:35

Issymum I always cook double or triple of anything freezable like stew, chili, pasta sauce etc and then just nuke it.

Of course I eat some pre done stuff too, a lot of it minging I'm sure!

good luck - it's hard work (I won't kid you on that one), but it's SO worth it when they start eating your food, and you're not having to cook two different meals each night

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:35

JG you could try a star chart or something too.

QoQ agree with you re reading labels (especially if on a budget). I'm a dab hand at label reading because dd used to have several food allergies and the habit of doing it has never gone away!

melrose · 17/01/2006 17:35

Just don't read the piercing thread, you'll be put off dinner altogether!

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:38

JG Here is your thread!

Thanks CD!

Issymum · 17/01/2006 17:41

Good point CD. DH is very easy-going and would happily eat the same thawed but homecooked meal four Fridays in a row. Maybe even Fish Pie!

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:45

Well I am going to have to hand the mantle of judgemental cow over to someone else while I go home and see dd (she is eating Cod, mash, broccoli carrots and peas tonight followed by custard with fresh pears and hundreds and thousands sprinkled over

DH and I are having organic free range chicken with broccoli, carrots and asparagus (bought cheapo knock down for 40p in waitrose) and a couple of new potatoes (all organic except the broccoli) and then yoghurt (yeo valley organic)

Or we might have egg and chips following this thread

Ah I see COD is around

She can take over, she is even bossier and ruder than me

We are having fishfingers, chips and musy peas Annd you know what - I am looking forward to it!!!

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 17/01/2006 18:07

Well I don't mind fishfingers - but DS1 and DH think they're 'minging' - and I need about 20 to feed the 4 of us for one meal so too expensive so we don't have them.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 17/01/2006 18:09

the kids are enjoying there minging fish pie and potatoe smiles

SleepyJess · 17/01/2006 18:10

My family are having a minging takewaway that I am trying to convince myself REALLY mings so I don't want it.

And a having a bloody sodding buggering 'veggie kebab' thing with a dry wholemeal pitta because I am on that bloody sodding buggering 'lardy' thread! (I don't think I am losing any weight either..!)

compo · 17/01/2006 18:11

I had a pot noddle yesterday

compo · 17/01/2006 18:12

noodle

JenumGeranium · 17/01/2006 18:16

Somehow a pot noddle sounds nicer!

Meanoldmummy · 17/01/2006 18:16

I'm having wild/camargue/brown rice, flageolet beans, black turtle beans, with a sort of sweet mush made of sweet potato, onion, tomato, cumin, turmeric, chillis, coriander seeds and lemon zest.

My kids would normally have had the same (I would have put fewer chillis in it) but they have had sausages....because it was DS1's first EVER day at nursery and he was only happy to be left because I told him I was going to Somerfield to buy sausages for his dinner.

Meanoldmummy · 17/01/2006 18:17

we call pot noodle Not Foodle

JenumGeranium · 17/01/2006 18:19

Lol!

Gingerbear · 17/01/2006 21:59

last night was tuna pasta bake, dearly beloved of Moondog and Cod, with a 'creamy tomato sauce'
tonight was tandoori chicken I made from scratch, apart from cumin, coriander and chilli - all powder, not crushed lovingly in a pestle and mortar by my own fair hands.

I am such an opposites type gal. One minute ready meals, next, haute cuisine.

moondog · 17/01/2006 22:05

lol at this thread!

One of my friend's has a nightmare about being in a deep financial mess and only being able to afford 'Value' meat paste. To her and her dh there is nothing more base.

God you gals eat some shit!!!

NOAM's tin of mince wins hands down though.

I had cheese on toast with chillies and tomatoes and a glass of carrot juice, followed by a mango and 30 lychees.
