Lamb steak with mashed potatoes, peas and sweetcorn for me, DH is having Fray Bentos Pie with mash and peas and sweetcorn.... FRAY BENTOS PIE - MINGING!

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:24

Yes quite, JG if you think they are bad now wait til they are older and won't eat anythig but crap. Did you see the news item today about the boy who died aged 10 or something because he ate nowt but McDs chips and his body packed in.

Change their habits now while you still can

You are very lucky then HRH!

I only manage to get veg into ds2 by making it into a soup. The only fruit he eats are bananas!

He is so much better than ds1!

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:24

jarm - omg how unbelievably minging

Children had granary bread sandwitches with real butter and corn fed chicken (left over from roast), carrot and cucumber sticks and real cheese (farmhouse cheddar), followed by yoghurt and fruit (apples and bananas). They had a cooked lunch in school.

But minging for dh and moi

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 17/01/2006 17:25

whats wrong with frozen admirals pie and smilies then???

JenumGeranium · 17/01/2006 17:26

I did read about that boy. I would not allow them to eat Macdonalds every day and I do try to get them to eat healthier - honest I do!

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 17/01/2006 17:26

I know I'm a right one to talk, feeding my children value foods - but that's all we can afford at the moment. However I make sure that the meals are 'balanced' (ok pizza isn't that balanced but most are - last night it was roast chicken, broccoli, carrots and boiled potatoes - with homemade gravy) and that they eat what we do. And we don't do any 'junk' food in this house - even a night when I'm too knackered too cook properly we'll have a cheesy pasta thing that's quick and easy to make,

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:27

It's minging!

come on MB spill the beans what are you having?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 17/01/2006 17:27

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:27

JG - not lucky - determined. He went for over 1yr eating cr*p - because we let him. Then I got fed up of 'cooking' two different meals. If they don't get offered anything else, - they'll soon get the hint - honestly. They'll probably kick up a fuss too - but just give it to them and tell them it's that or nothing, after about a week of only having 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) a day they'll start eating proper food with you.

melrose · 17/01/2006 17:28

YES CD chorizo chowder is good, but egg and chips is still soundfing v appealing, organic free range eggs though ......

Blandmum · 17/01/2006 17:28

Posted earlier....RAF prepared meal that didn't get eaten on dhs sortie today (would have gone in the bin h and s rules)....salmon, spuds and veg. Minging, but easy and free!

Hattie05 · 17/01/2006 17:29

HRH i am the same as you, and it is for that reason that i now need to 'order in' because i am feeling lazy and there is NO JUNk in my house. But its ok if someone else delivers it isn't it?

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:29

Good, good

Noticed yesterday that Waitrose are now selling double yolkers! There's a blast from the past eh?

OP posts:
JenumGeranium · 17/01/2006 17:30

I will try and give it a go, but I dont hold out much hope! Wont he starve?

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 17/01/2006 17:30

oh absolutely Hattie - at least that way it's only once in a while, and there's none left over to eat (or nag you for) tomorrow.

It's simple - if you've got no junk 'kids' food in the house - they can't have it. How old are they?

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 17:31

No of course not

We can start a support thread for you if you like JG, suggest recipes etc

just the one dd who is 3yrs. She'll be nourishing on garlic bread and pizza in approx 30mins time.

JenumGeranium · 17/01/2006 17:32

Yes please!

How can I pursuade ds1 to even try something? He is 6 btw. He wont even try anything!

Think ds2 would do better - he will give most things a try!

Issymum · 17/01/2006 17:33

Sigh! You're right, it probably is minging. We have one 'ready meal' a week because by Friday I'm too knackered to cook or go out and so is our nanny (cook that is - going out seems OK!). Ah well I shall just ming ming away.

This had made me think that maybe we should stock our freezer with a few really decent ready-meals. We used to be able to buy organic ones somewhere - Swaddles?

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 17/01/2006 17:33

he won't starve - as long as he's having his other two meals. He might feel hungry tomorrow - but don't offer him snacks to fill up (apart from any 'normal' ones he usually has), but he'll eat his breakfast and lunch with gusto. And after a few days (may take up to a week or so - with tantrums thrown in I'm afraid) he'll realise it's that or nothing.

For the vegetables do a reward system. 1 piece of veg x reward, 2 pieces y reward - or build it up as points over the week.

JenumGeranium · 17/01/2006 17:34

Ok I am gonna try!
