We have played with Eve / Evie for the new bubaloo but it's just not sticking, something is preventing us both for going for it, and I don't know what / why. Perhaps we'll suddenly feel it and go for it, but maybe not.

Other contenders are:

Lauren
Amelie

Last night D said he really liked the name Saskia, I'm not so sure.

It has to semi go a bit with Carlotte / Lottie (our eldest DD) and her last name begins with M and you makes a 'moy' sound.

Any comments on the names we have thought of and any other suggestions?

Is Lottie a Charlotte? If so it might be nice to give Pickle a longer name which you can also shorten - like the aforementioned Elizabeth (I particularly like Libby).

Fimbo · 07/01/2006 20:00

My dd's best friend is LIBERTY but gets shortened to Lib or Libby

Tanzie · 07/01/2006 21:26

We booked the registry office for the latest date we could and DD2 got her name at about midnight, the night before she had to be registered.

Is Drea short for "Dreary"?

Brooke-Leigh sounds like a road on a council estate...

Madeleine is a lovely name, but there are 4 in DD's class.

Twinkie1 · 07/01/2006 21:58

Harriet or Matilda (so you can use Tilly) are my faves!!

Have new fashionable names like - Courtney/Liberty/Demi - Bleugh - and there is a Rooney that I know of - would you believe it!!!

Sorry if you guys have kids called any of the ones I don;t like - personal taste and all (and me being my old unPC self!!)

WestCountryLass · 07/01/2006 22:29

ThomCat, are family having an influence, what are their suggestions?

Thomcat · 08/01/2006 00:55

Yes Lottie is a Carlotte as well and I do love names tat you are long and you can play with, perhaps that's why Eve / Evie arn't sticking for me.

Family just patiently waiting and only a few comments when they really don't like a name we suggest. All like Eve.

Can't do Maddy or Tilly as friends kids named this.

D and I didn't actually get round to the name chat tonight but books on bedside table and will go through them with a cup of tea in the morning. Must start getting serious about this and coming up with a decision. Think booking appt at reg office is a good idea and will do that Monday, book appt for as far off as poss though.

How are you feeling, TC?

flutterbee · 08/01/2006 01:33

Don't know if it has been mentioned but what about Annabelle, I love the name and hope for a girl next time round so I can use it. It could be shortened to annie or belle both of which I think are lovely.

peepee · 08/01/2006 07:17

Tanzie..........That's not nice. I have no idea what it's short for as I just saw it on TV. I assume it has something to do with Andrea!!!!

Auntymandy · 08/01/2006 07:26

OK, so everyone likes "Eve". What names can be shortened to Eve in order to fulfil your personal need for a name that can be played around with?

Variations on (and excuse the spellings!)
Evelyn
Genvieve
Niamh
Maeve
Evangaline

...

SoupDragon · 08/01/2006 10:29

I assume Nastya isn't pronounced Nastier??!
