We have played with Eve / Evie for the new bubaloo but it's just not sticking, something is preventing us both for going for it, and I don't know what / why. Perhaps we'll suddenly feel it and go for it, but maybe not.

Other contenders are:

Lauren
Amelie

Last night D said he really liked the name Saskia, I'm not so sure.

It has to semi go a bit with Carlotte / Lottie (our eldest DD) and her last name begins with M and you makes a 'moy' sound.

Any comments on the names we have thought of and any other suggestions?

Pippa is a great name and is now quite unusual

What does Lottie think?

calicopie · 05/01/2006 18:35

If ds had been dd2 (dd is Anna) we had on our shortlist:

Sadie (but Sarah on birth certificate)
Rosa
Tess
Kate
Jemma

Sadie was my fave as it reminded me of a really feisty old lady I used to know - the type who does 30 lengths of the swimming pool before breakfast every morning when she's 80. I also think it goes really well with Lottie

Enid · 05/01/2006 18:35

i love harriet

wish it wasnt dd1s middle name

Enid · 05/01/2006 18:37

tc our shortlist (although 3 months to go) is currently:

Susanna
Kate
Pippa (dh likes it)
Sasha
Beatrice (hmmmmmmmm like Bea but not sure)

mumlove · 05/01/2006 18:49

Just read some of this and found you also call your DD pickle (I do that).

Any way I wanted to call my DD Felicity Hope, but DH said 'NO', so I went back to the baby name book and found Nadine (meaning hope), so we now have Nadine Beth.

unicorn · 05/01/2006 18:55

Natasha
Jennifer
Imogen
Olivia (Liv/libby)
Beth
Theresa (Tess)

Do you have any 'roots' you can claim ?
There are tons of nice Celtic names etc.

PrincessPeaHead · 05/01/2006 21:54

nooooo, not Pippa Enid and TC! You have to exercise some dh control!

There are so many other nicer names around (and on your lists...)

TC how about Anna? I think it is completely versatile - classless, dateless, classic and sweet. Good for a baby, child, adult. And sounds sweet with Lottie.

Janh · 05/01/2006 21:59

You can still have Harriet, Enid - GDG's boys only have about 4 names between them IIRC

Susannah prettier than Susanna
Katharine more flexible than Katie
Sasha is Russian diminutive for Alexandra
Beatrice/Bea lovely

and don't forget classic, incredibly adaptable, Elizabeth. (If I had a girl now I'd definitely call her Elizabeth.)

Janh · 05/01/2006 22:00

TC, just call her Junior Daughter until you make a decision! (Or baby, like Aloha?)

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 05/01/2006 22:23

There was a little girl at softplay today called Cara, I thought that was lovely

Gumbee · 05/01/2006 22:59

I like the following names:

Luisa
Abbey
Adrienne
Faye
Anna
Eve
Judy
Keeley
Melanie

Aloha · 05/01/2006 23:00

She's still called Baby a great deal of the time!

motherinferior · 06/01/2006 10:17

DD2 gets called Porglyworgeous.

Enid · 06/01/2006 10:19

Jan I left Elizabeth off

we all like that esp dd1 who thought of it!

not massively keen on Liz or Beth though but there you go

Enid · 06/01/2006 10:19

pph dont worry there is no way she is going to be Pippa- you know our surname - how showjumpery is that!!??

Enid · 06/01/2006 10:20

imagine it said in full county accent

Enid · 06/01/2006 10:20

Anna is now on list

Dinosaur · 06/01/2006 10:22

Verity
Hope
Fionnuala
Aisling
Niamh
Ava
Louise

All the girls' names that I'm not going to get a chance to use myself, now!

Dinosaur · 06/01/2006 10:22

Yvonne
Siobhan

Tinker · 06/01/2006 10:25

But there are so many shortenings of Elizabeth though.

I like Naimh, think it sounds quite cooly classy and aloof.

Tinker · 06/01/2006 10:26

Preferably when spelt correctly

Sidonie · 06/01/2006 11:53

Claudine
Dominique
Raphaelle
Leonora
Antonia
Theodora
Thomasina

PrincessPeaHead · 06/01/2006 13:22

phew, relieved to hear that Enid.

You would be damning her to a life of large spready buttocks in jodphurs....!

I think Anna is lovely, works for every type of person/personality. You could be tall, tiny, dark, blonde, an artist or a prime minister, and be called Anna.
And I've never known a nasty one.

SoupDragon · 06/01/2006 13:26

Just call her Lottie, TC and be done with it. It saves you the trouble of having to remember which child you're talking to.
