Hello everyone!

Sputnik: Happy Birthday!!! Hope you are having a lovely day and that dd is starting to feel better with the help of the AB.

Cellini, sounds like you have found some new friends Smile!
I agree in gently introducing ds to the Italian language before he starts materna. Any sort of activity will do, I am certain. Plus, I'd try him on some TV programs in Italian. You'll find all the English programs translated in Italian on Sky, or you can get him some Pimpa dvds.

When we were living in the UK (we spoke italian at home) I "threw" mine at nursery when they were about 1 yr old, because it seemed to me the best way for them to learn English. Mind you, they were in an English environment anyway, because English was spoken everywhere, when I took them to the doctor's, spoke with neighbours etc etc, therefore they picked it up quite easily (dd more so than ds, who started to speak at 2!!!)

Gio, are you still in M.?

So utterly fed up with winter, it's so cold, I don't want to leave the house until May!

Rosa · 02/02/2011 11:02

Justa quickie - Sput a friend of mines dd exactly the same very tired and floppy . She had ABs for a week and she is slowly getting better she is now on week 2 of being at home since 1st febbre 29 Jan..... Its a long one this one.

Francagoestohollywood · 02/02/2011 11:04

Yes, this year's flu is tough, I have heard that too.

Rosa · 02/02/2011 13:02

Back properly now. AUguri Sput might not be a fab day with dd ill but hope you celebrate maybe when you are all fit and better.
Cellini it sounds great - so glad you have managed to make a circle of friends for you and ds..makes all the difference. We have just done a contract with fastweb 6+6 its cheap and they were very quick about putting the line in ( well telecom have done their bit just waiting for the fastweb chap to make contact now)
Am taking minirosa back to paed domani just to check her chest. The tosse is now very very heavy - good as the cattaro is moving but Friday he will be jammed with everybody in panic before the weekend ( like I was last week) . ALso taking dd back to the DIsney store. MIL said to dd she would take her this morning ...I rang at 9.20 she was going to the sodding mercato with her friend how do I explain to a 4 yr old that nonna might take her this pm instead? DH is fuming he hasn't called yet until he calms down! I did make it out with both but it was hard work just the hand holding and being careful she doesn't get pushed by accident in a shop etc ...
However my mum has offered to come out so I am looking at flights ....I just need some help . My cleaner called in sick today so that doesn't help either !!!!!!

eurocommuter · 02/02/2011 16:10

Thank you all for your encouraging messages. I do feel better now.
Sput, we did get his eyes checked and he was fine. I know that when i watch him copying he looses his his place quite a lot. I don't know why that is so. Trying to figure that out and see how we can help him.

The febbre this year is too much. I've been trying to keep dd away from it as she gets scary Asthma when she catched a cold and most of of the time ends up in hospital.

Thnaks again!

Francagoestohollywood · 02/02/2011 17:35

Oh Rosa.
Did she manage to go to theDisney store this pm?

I went to see the dentist for ds, and the dentist say that ds, on top of needing braces and a little operation, also need to see a speech therapist. Uffa!

eurocommuter · 02/02/2011 17:37

Oh dear Franca! Why does he think that?

Francagoestohollywood · 02/02/2011 18:00

Ds has troubles pronouncing his s. He wants to make sure that ds tongue hits the right spots before putting braces on.

Rosa · 02/02/2011 18:32

Oh Franca soldi soldi soldi.... Or can you get the speech therapist not private? My friend pays a small fortune for her dd and it will be a long thing as well.
EC can you go back to either the doc or the optician with this copying thing as it sounds as if there could be a hitch somewhere. NO disney oing in the morning ...
Nonna in arrivo Sabato ..how happy am i???

Sputnik · 02/02/2011 20:56

Thanks for all the birthday wishes :)
DD is miles better today, too early to be the effect of the ABs probably so maybe I should've waited an extra day, we'll finish the course though. It's really incredible how she has bounced back. So anyway she wants to go back to school tomorrow and I agreee so back she goes. Apparently half the school is off though. Now DH has it though.
Had a pretty good day under the circumstances, managed to bake a cake, do a bit of shopping and not get too depressed about how old I am. Hopefully DH and I will get to go out for a meal next week sometime.

Camomilla · 02/02/2011 21:51

hello, everyone, hope you're all well. Sput just reminded me I miss LI too.. Camo's house is very busy, and i get so knackered at night that when DP finally finishes with the laptop I'm "resting my eyes"... and I got really addicted to kitting... but I must make more of an effort...

anyway, quick update - DS is still 6 going on 13, and DD is 2 going on 13! she's such a handful... DP is still trying to get his business up and running, butt taking longer than expected, and I don't know if I'll have a job come april - there seems to have been a cockup, so that my job plus another full time job from our seection (which I used to do before) have been turned into half a job... but apparently we can do exactly the same job as before, we just need to be more efficient Hmm maybe we can have 40 hour days... so we all have to apply for "a" job and we'll get "matched" to the most suitable post, if there is one... never mind.

how are you all? quick summary?

Sputnik · 02/02/2011 21:59

Hi Camo, glad you made it over :)
I have been making stuff too, mostly pillow covers, and trying to sell it on Etsy, it's really therapeutic, and addictive. Not realy a money maknig proposition though.
Can't remember when we last touched base, but we've finally got DS on regular speech therapy, as well as some other stuff coming up, DD is fine but won't stop talking, I wish they'd balance out a bit!

Camomilla · 02/02/2011 22:28

glad to hear about DS! DD is making more and more sense, but even if she's not saying "proper" words, she won't stop talkig! must be girls... the best thing though is that for some reason, DS only speaks in Italian to her, maybe because I do, so he really practises now adn his italian is definetly improving...

seen your cushions, they're really cool! I haven't made anything to sell, did some nice xmas presents, a dress for dd, trying to make a vest for ds, but taking for ever as I'm learning as I knit, so I can only do it when I know I'll have some un-disturbed me-time, which is very rare, especially with dp working most w-ends!

Rosa, how's the house? have you finished moving/renovating?

right, wil try to check in tomorrow, dp needs this again. notte

Sputnik · 02/02/2011 23:19

I gave up waiting to have undisturbed me time, as I never got any big chunks. I'm now doing stuff on the hop!
Great about DS and his Italian :)

Camomilla · 03/02/2011 09:12

Must apologise for my horrendous typing last night... at least on the phone the predictive text is quite good, even if it takes longer.. nearly at work, have a nice day.

Francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2011 14:07

Hi Camo, so good to see you!
You will need one of Rosa's famous recap!
We are doing well, dd has started primary in Sept and is now settled after crying for her scuola materna her first month.
It has been a long and cold winter here in northern italy, and I am following closely the bunga bunga events Hmm

Off to togliere a torta from the oven, I checked on it 5 mins ago and it went all flat when I put int back in the oven, damn!

Rosa, I could go with the ASL for the logopedista, but it will take ages and I want to get this braces thing started, so I'll look for a private one, I think.
And today I paid 40 euros to the tecnico of the washing machine. ajkhfhjjkgsdjkgfjkgfjk!

Rosa · 04/02/2011 13:08

Camo how lovely to see you again - the terrible 2s and tantrums having lots of them overhere.
Cellini - I get porrige oats from the deli in Piazza Ferreto in Mestre ( Quaker) however I get similar ones from the health food shops- I don't make porrige with them however but flapjacks so no idea if they are any good for porrige!!
Franca agree with logopdia all my friends ( I have 4 with dcs being treated) go private but even getting into the good private one is hard here as there are so few in the city.
Minirosa still chesty cough but she should be ok for nursery on monday - I hope !
Dh now saying he is feeling sore thorat / coldy arrggghhhhhhhhh.
If dd gets it no idea how the doc will check her chest !!!! Cross that bridge when it happens - not saying if as ormai that is my destiny right now !
THis pm taking DD1 to the festa at her asilo is a mini mass for S Dorotea and the children all get apples !!!! Then must do a quick shop as domani grandma arrives hurrah hurrah hurrah. N
Nonna did her stuff yesterday and she hasn't called today ....So I took both out it took me 1hr to do about 300m no buggy for minirosa - she did do 1 big bridge however and we took the vaporetto 1 stop back - ENOUGH !!

Francagoestohollywood · 04/02/2011 13:50

Oh I find Quaver oats at Esselunga!

Dd was sick yesterday night (10 minutes before the friends we had for dinner arrived), but she seems fine now. She is watching The Little Princess on dvd.

I've had a busy morning at the nursery where I volunteer and I am now in serious need of a cup of coffee.

Rosa · 05/02/2011 12:32

Franca - hope she is ok now and no repeats.... DD1 now seems to have a bit of a cold so I have upped the Vit C she can't get a cough .
Have booked the sea side flat for July Well from last week in June). We were going to look at some new ones but due to circumstances we just booked teh same as last year to be on the safe side plus we liked the location and the apartment- Mind you price has gone up by Eu300 year on year .....Same time /length etc...

Francagoestohollywood · 06/02/2011 14:39

Wow, 300 euros more is a lot!

Rosa, how are the dd? I am sure you are having a lovely time with your mother.
Dd seems fine, but I'm banning chocolate, focaccia and salame for a few days. Today it's finally sunny, and there is the blocco del traffico, so we took the dc to the local park, where we bumped into lots of people we know, and missed Elio by 5 minutes (apparently he goes there often!)

Sputnik · 06/02/2011 21:08

What a shame you missed him!
We had a busy weekend, working on the house, Delgirl's birthday party then this afternoon we went sledging. It is so warm here most of the snow is gone from the ski slopes at Terminillo, but luckily the sledging spot is in the shade.
Knackered now and home.

Sputnik · 06/02/2011 21:09

What is this Wine!
Right now I feel more in need of a [camomilla] emoticon tbh

Francagoestohollywood · 06/02/2011 21:44

Oh, Wine, cin cin then Grin

Sledging and birthdays, how lovely!

Rosa · 07/02/2011 06:48

Francagoestohollywood · 07/02/2011 13:37
