Yes, MrScout has just admitted to getting the weekend wrong. D'oh. Sorry everyone.

On a positive note we managed to get tickets to the CBeebies Proms at The Royal Albert in July so that will be fun.

mistlethrush · 17/05/2014 17:25

I have just helped MiL spend a lot of money in a garden centre.... But I think that the plants we got will be really good for her garden.

UniS · 17/05/2014 17:56

did mil enjoy spending lots of money on plants, coz if so yanbu.

Boy and another cub " helped" by playing knockabout tennis and clap catch on the lawn and looking like happy cheerful little chaps when random grown ups came to look round the scout hut.

She was going to spend the equivalent on yew hedging and these look much more interesting and will fill much more of her new borders...

Donki · 17/05/2014 19:59

Number 8 fails.
No television on which to watch silly film.
(Need to get one on Monday.)

Ok 'need' is a relative term...

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 20:17

Do you have a laptop or desktop, Donki, to watch something on iPlayer?

Donki · 17/05/2014 20:27

I may do just that Scout
Or read.

I have always buried myself in books.
Perhaps it's time to get Lord of the Rings out again.

Donki · 17/05/2014 20:28

Or a Lois McMaster Bujold.

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 20:38

I'll be up/in here for a while if you want to shoot the breeze and talk about nothing, Donki. I'm good for that.

mistlethrush · 17/05/2014 20:40

I'm in tonight too.

mistlethrush · 17/05/2014 20:42

Bluebells

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 20:44

Ooooh, pretty!

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 20:53

SB's finally out.

We made it to a windmill today after all. SB was VERY excited and even bought a postcard with his money.

Donki · 17/05/2014 21:04

The bluebells are beautiful.

YD is in bed, lights out - but not yet asleep.

The washing up awaits... (we don't have a dishwasher.)

CMOTDibbler · 17/05/2014 21:05

In times of stress, I always find Georgette Heyer to be very comforting Donki.

We went to the forest and cycled today - 10 miles for me and ds and the dog, then dh did another lap while ds played and I drank coffee.

I've just been filling party bags for tomorrow. Hope it goes well - I find parties very stressfull

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 21:07

What kind of party is it, CMOT? Theme/type, I mean. I mean, I know it's a birthday. But heck.... I'm going to shut up now.....

Donki · 17/05/2014 21:10

Good luck with the Party CMOT - and Happy Birthday to your ds.

CMOTDibbler · 17/05/2014 21:18

Its at a local activity centre where you can choose from a selection of things for them to do with an instructor. DS has chosen archery and air rifles Hmm. Bad news on this place is you have to do your own food, so its sandwich o rama tomorrow first thing.

Bit of an extended birthday celebration for ds this year as its his birthday on Tuesday, and on Friday we have people coming for the weekend inc his bff staying till Monday. Makes up for his actual birthday being a bit weird tbh as he'll only have a present from us and a couple of cards - no family phone calls etc. But he gets to wear his own clothes to school at least

Donki · 17/05/2014 21:24

I'm procrastinating

Washing up here I come!

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 21:30

I think I might go to bed early to read to get away from the television viewing MrSout is insisting on despite my requests for something a bit more, well, not this.

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 21:36

Archery is cool, CMOT. I've never tried air rifles but Scouts around here are quite keen on them.

We're looking at doing the mini (kids) Go Ape! with SB this summer. We've just been waiting for the weather to improve.

Must admit I'm rather excited for CBeebies Proms in July. Not as excited as I am for my own, grown up gig in a few weeks, but still looking forward to it.

beanandspud · 17/05/2014 22:00

Happy Birthday CMOTBoy! Good luck with the sandwiches, I found/find parties very, very stressful. Some parents seem to be naturals but I am most definitely not.

Just back from pizza with friends. Small Bean has run miles and is sparko. Have spent all day out in the garden digging, planting, washing down furniture etc. Loving this weather [ grin].

MaudantWit · 17/05/2014 22:35

Yes, archery is cool (although also, in my one experience of it, hard.) I love the look of Go Ape, but was a bit deterred when I read that you have to go up there with your child. Ooh-err.

I'm hoping for a gardening afternoon tomorrow - I have lily bulbs to plant.

Donki · 17/05/2014 22:46

The YD loved GoApe. We have been on the big version twice now.

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 22:46

Maud, isn't Girl old enough for regular Go Ape now? Ratios are different for grown-up Go Ape but can't remember what they are (been a while since I looked at it for Guides/Scouts). Send her up with someone else? (I'll take her!) Grown up Go Ape is lots of fun.

I nearly took out my gym teacher in high school doing archery. I was in a full chest back brace and couldn't twist/turn properly to do the bow. We didn't realize just how much that affected my aim & release until I let go. D'oh!
