?Pats self on back and has another slice of Cake ?

CMOTDibbler · 15/05/2014 17:07

Do you have a local carers centre Donki? My aunt recommended them, and they have done all the paperwork for dad and told him all the things they are entitled to.

Have lots of cake

Well done to boy Unis!

AnneOfCleavage · 15/05/2014 17:10

You so deserve cake Donki [pushes another slice and sneaks a G&T to go with it] - enjoy!!! Hate paperwork, make sure you have complete peace & quiet when you fill it in i.e when DS is at school.

Can't believe we've had two days in a row of sunshine - could this be here to stay [runs away to touch wood]

Donki · 15/05/2014 20:42

The YoungDonki is shattered after 4 days of SATS - and tomorrow they are doing a formal written assessment for their teacher.

We went out to the Wetherby Whaler for fish and chips to celebrate the end of SATS. they do a good gf battered fish. :)

The YD has just said I'm not to wake him up in the morning because he's too tired for school.

MC has had tests all week too - just one a day - luckily they got writing over and done with on Monday so we've not had that hanging over us - all the rest have been fine I think! Just got spellings tomorrow I think - when he concentrates he can spell a lot better than me - when I try that I can write down the same word 8 different ways and none of them look correct!

Donki · 16/05/2014 06:36

The YD has just trotted through.

I won't be needing to wake him up then.

Probably just as well.

Donki · 16/05/2014 09:33

Hurrah!
The YD trotted off to school with no more than his usual reluctance.

He deserves a medal for getting through this week.

I see Mellors has put out a special, fortifying breakfast...

?Clops over to the buffet?

UniS · 16/05/2014 10:41

hands out medals to the tea room children for their various achievements this week.

Next door's dog has been borrowed and walked - the YD came too.
It is a lovely evening, and ndnd said it was full of interesting smells.

Scout19075 · 16/05/2014 21:41

YAY for YD (and all of the Tea Room children).

Today I realized, though not for the first time, that I am raising a geek. Nothing wrong with that, mind, but it's becoming more obvious as each day passes.

Went to YOUT today with the aim of getting some curriculum books I've been eyeing. Did that and so much more. SB has been extremely lucky and ended up with four new books, two of which are about science. Went to the science center after lunch (they don't open until 1) and were they only patrons for nearly two hours so it meant SB had the run of the place to himself. He was so happy and talked the ear off the poor girl that was working and knows us as we're her "Friday regulars". Had a lovely shortbread at a café before going to catch the bus to MrScout's office (so we could have a lift home and wouldn't be stuck on the bus back to Scoutville which, at that time of afternoon on a Friday, could have taken up to two hours).

This evening I realized just how English/British I'm becoming I called my friend's sister's husband (who I do happen to know) a knob. Keep in mind my friend is American (I've known her since high school) and lives in a different country to either where we grew up or where I live now. He really is a knob, there's no other word for it.--

It's National Mills Weekend this weekend so you know what we'll be doing all weekend....

Donki · 17/05/2014 04:40

Quiet in here at night.

MaudantWit · 17/05/2014 07:11

Yes, it tends to be these days.

Wishing you strength for today, Donki.

::directs you towards Mellors' appetising buffet of breakfast comfort food::

Donki · 17/05/2014 07:27

?Looks at the amazing spread put on by Mellors?

Yummm! Carrot breakfast surprise!

And look! The NMBs are doing a formation frying pan war dance to entertain the Tea Room inmates - and Mistlehound has found her way here and is busy licking me! :)

The YD says he is sad but wants to help MrD with the move. (So on previous form, everything will take twice as long ...)

Donki · 17/05/2014 07:28

(I thought National Mills Weekend was last weekend?)

AnneOfCleavage · 17/05/2014 08:33

Morning all Smile

A question (my first on this thread) re some of the lingo:

What/who do you mean by Mellor's? I'm very intrigued. Do they just cater for us on this thread or can we find them on the other boards?

Busy weekend, DD has a party today and tomorrow and we are doing a bbq for DH family this lunchtime which was only decided last night so battle at the shops on a Saturday will commence soon may send DH as it's his family and his idea for a bbq

Lucky you and DS having the Science Center to yourselves Scout - sounds like a perfect afternoon Smile

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 08:48

Donki, sending lots of hugs your way (and piles of lovely lavender hay and hoof rubs and carrot cake).

CMOTDibbler · 17/05/2014 08:50

Mellors is the buff butler Grin

We are off to the forest for a nice long, off road, cycle. Tomorrow is Ds's birthday party

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 09:02

Oh, I thought Mills weekend was this weekend. MrScout was looking online last night to see which ones around us were open and their timetables also trying to find ones locally we haven't been to. I hope it's this weekend since our weekend is kind of planned around it. We didn't go to PiLshire for a jamboree meeting based on Mills weekend. Eek, I'm concerned now....

After a few nights of SmallBoy not staying in his own bed (again) we finally had a night where he stayed there/slept through. YAY! He was still up way too early considering what time he went to bed (due to us being out late and having dinner late therefore stories and bedtime late) but he woke up smiley and happy and full of four year old cuddles and kisses so I can forgive him the early start but don't tell him that. He climbed into bed with us carrying several members of the Warren, three cardboard tubes, a Lego flashlight and two toy diggers of some description.

I need motivation to meal plan and sort out the grocery list. Milk. I know we need that. And probably cereal. We always need cereal.

Donki · 17/05/2014 09:20

Scout
Small boy sounds adorable.

The YD was awake from about 6.00 am and woke up at around 4.00am and 5.00 am too.

I am not looking forwards to a very tired YD later today. He gets very silly and meltdowns are much more easily triggered by really trivial things. I am tired too - and that makes it much harder to be patient and think creatively to avoid triggers.

And today would be difficult even if we weren't so tired.

?Eats more carrot cake and quaffs a huge bucket of Brew ?

However: the YD is coping well at the moment.
Plan:

  1. more laundry - strip MrD's bed.
  2. Gardening plus 30 minutes house decluttering
  3. walk up to Main Street for tea and cake with P
  4. lunch
  5. garden/declutter (YD with MrD)
  6. go to friend's for tea.
  7. YDs bed time (likely flash point)
  8. watch silly film
  9. bed at sensible hour.

Note to self. I am not superdonki. It does not matter if stuff on this list does not get done!

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 09:24

I think all Donkis are SuperDonkis, they just don't have to perform their SuperDonki powers 24/7/365 and/or for the whole world to see. Take things easy today. Enjoy your day with YD.

mistlethrush · 17/05/2014 09:35

Donki, do what you can to keep yourself occupied, don't get sunburned, try and stay clear as much as is sensible. And really don't worry if the move takes longer because the YD's helping. If he's not properly arranged the other end he can do that when the YD's not there to 'help'.

We're going to take mistlehound out early before it gets remotely hot. Might go to a garden centre with MiL this afternoon - probably more time than tomorrow afternoon with a concert to go to at the end of the string day that MC's going on.

MaudantWit · 17/05/2014 09:58

I echo what Scout says about Donkis. You have shown SuperDonki levels of strength and fortitude, even when at a low ebb.

UniS · 17/05/2014 11:19

hands medal to super donki. it is made of donki friendly chocolate with a carrot flavour edible ribbon.

Boy is having a down time morning. None of his chores have been done and he spent an hour on the sofa listening to an audio book.

Twas mills weekend last weekend rou nd here, I'm baking bread today with flour milled at Exeter's last working water mill. Well mix of that and lidl strong flour. A friends husband was one of the millers.

Local scout group have an open afternoon at the rebuilt scout hut. boy is going along to " help".

?Chomps medal?

Yummy - I didn't know you could ger carrot flavoured chocolate! Thank you UniS

Your kind words are helpful on a difficult day.

Thank you everyone. Thanks

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 12:51

Yes, MrScout has just admitted to getting the weekend wrong. D'oh. Sorry everyone.

On a positive note we managed to get tickets to the CBeebies Proms at The Royal Albert in July so that will be fun.
