It's a while since I read about Go Ape, so maybe she is. At one level I know it would be lots of fun but, at another, I am a wuss.

Scout19075 · 17/05/2014 22:51

Seriously, Maud, I'd go up with her. I love Go Ape but SB is still way to young for the grown up one.

UniS · 17/05/2014 23:09

Boy has discovered archery just recently with cubs, hes very pleased that this years camp has a "robin hood" theme and archery is on the timetable. Also that the Group scout leader has just done his archery coaching qualification.

Oh great, just what I need, boy wanting to take up ANOTHER sport. He was mithering for rugby boots last week. And his wet suit is getting rather snug under the arms. Much needed new tap shoes were purchased the other week and I bought him spd cycling shoes last week thinking they were to grow into, so maybe a christmas present ( being sold on as they didn't fit an older child in the cycling club) but they fit NOW.

These 8 year olds don't half grow fast.

Unis do you have a wetsuit that would fit a fairly big 6yr old that you would be willing to sell?

mistlethrush · 18/05/2014 08:05

UniS - I've got MC's wetsuit (which I'm sure won't fit MC this year) which would probably be ideal for Boy - I'll let you know what size it is. We're aiming to come down again for the 2nd week of July...

UniS · 18/05/2014 09:10

Sounds like we could do some wet suit shuffling in July. bean do you live nearish mistle? Could send boys (good for about 120-130cm height, in shabby condition, about 4th hand, long legs and arms, O'Neill) up with mistle in July if so.

beanandspud · 18/05/2014 09:56

That would be great if you're sure that's ok. MT and I live fairly close - would be a good excuse to get together. Smile

UniS · 18/05/2014 15:41

I'm sure bean . Mistle do you have mc the next size already , because I have a shortie wetsuit in the cupboard that won't fit boy till next summer or the one after you could have as a swop. I guess that works best if we meet up at the start of your holiday. pm me with dates and I'll see how we are fixed.

MC's is a TWF 'Titanium' K12 shortie

CMOTDibbler · 18/05/2014 18:46

UniS, what size rugby boots do you need?

Party was great - only 7 other boys, and 3 parents stayed, so we all sat in the sun and drank coffee while the boys did their stuff. I then lobbed food at them, and they were delighted with the football cards in the party bags.

If anyone has child interested in archery, next weekend is the national archery big weekend with events at most of the clubs.

UniS · 18/05/2014 19:25

Rugby boots - size 2 or 3 . ( euro 34- 36) seem to fit currently. If you have outgrowns I'd be interested.

Thanks for the archery tip off I'll see what going on round here.
Today was boys first cricket match, he got picked for the 1st team ( he was one of 2 Y3s from different schools in the 1sts) and is very chuffed with medal they won for winning the tournament. 6 teams of six. 4 teams were from our , hosting, club ( 1st, 2nds, 3rd 4ths) and two from other clubs. Next Sunday our club will send two teams to a same format tournament at another club. Remains to be seen if boy gets picked for 1sts again next week.

Alas, the outgrowns are a size 1.

beanandspud · 18/05/2014 21:16

Well done Boy! And thank you for the wetsuit, Small Bean will be delighted.

Very relaxing day here thank goodness, lots of pottering in the garden and enjoying being at home.

Can I interest anyone in a Wine to round off the weekend?

mistlethrush · 18/05/2014 21:43

I'm on G&T this evening.

I'll bring some rugby boots too UniS! Is that the next wetsuit size up for Boy?

UniS · 18/05/2014 22:47

thank you mt. Boots too would be really good of you. I need to measure boys torso length when he is awake to work out wet suit sizes. twf have a handy size guide on their website . I will also measure the wetsuit in waiting and let you know what twf size it is equal to.

Care for a jammie dodger and a hot choc? before bedtime.

As long as its chocolate free WinkGrin

Scout19075 · 18/05/2014 23:32

Why am I so intimated writing to an AF Captain. He's only a captain. Wink

I should see if I can find out if they're doing 4th of July celebrations on base this year (last year's was cancelled due to budget cutbacks). I love going on base -- everything's "Yes ma'am" and "No ma'am" and "Have a good day, ma'am."

I just have to say I love the Tea Room.

Donki · 19/05/2014 05:50

Well that was painful.

Cirque du soleil (dralion) was brilliant.
But it was so hard to be with MrD all day.

It has been - and is - much more painful than my father's death.

Or the death of our best friend in the Selby rail crash. Including the week I spent with his wife and their 2 year old son, when they took 3 days to confirm friends death.

MaudantWit · 19/05/2014 07:56

Yes, it sounds terribly painful. Small consolation, but please have first pick from another of Mellors' legendary breakfast buffets ...

UniS · 19/05/2014 08:09

mellors does a good eggs over easy.

One of the things, I'm sure, is the unexpectedness of things - you didn't expect that you would 'lose' your husband (in what ever way) for years and years - this wasn't part of the plan. And it is like a bereavement too.

If you want somewhere different for a bit of a ramble, the park just up the road from me - park in the main car park on the main road, but instead of heading through the underpass into the main bit of the park, keep going over the small footbridge - turn right and wander through the woods (that's where the bluebells are) and there's a large pond at the end - lovely walk, particularly at this time of year - not particularly far, but you can then wander round the main park too if you want. The cafe usually has a gf cake on offer too.

Donki · 19/05/2014 15:22

Golden Acre?

Donki · 19/05/2014 15:23

Feeling more positive today.
List of things to do has been done.

CMOTDibbler · 19/05/2014 15:29

Well done Donki, now have a sit down with a bucket of tea and some squishy cakes.

MaudantWit · 19/05/2014 15:30

Well done, Donki. Small steps.
