Hello! Just thought I'd drop in and scam a bit of tea and cake - although not supposed to be caking because am supposed to be doing low carb, but have signally failed to do so, because there was too much chocolate left in the house after Easter Blush

Donki - (((hugs))). The reason, I believe, that this is so much more painful than the death of your father or your friend is because your father and your friend did not choose to hurt you by dying. Your twatH has chosen to hurt you - and that is so unutterably painful all by itself, that the "man" you thought loved you and whom you loved, has decided that it's ok to inflict this hideous amount of pain and disruption on both you and his son, just to satisfy his own whim. The loss of your marriage etc. is painful enough - but I believe it's the added knowledge that it's been done deliberately to you, regardless of the hurt, that makes it so much worse.

You probably knew that, though. Thanks

?Sits down with bucket of tea and squishy gf carrot cake?

?Eyes weather and contemplates risking dragging the YD out with next door neighbour's dog?

Donki · 19/05/2014 17:44

The YD was very resistant to walking next door's hound tonight.
He is very out of sorts.

UniS · 19/05/2014 19:21

ummm, cake and tea. perfect.

Success!
NDN's hound walked (to her great joy) and the YD exercised to boot.

He is in a better mood now :)

Bedtime!

Scout19075 · 19/05/2014 20:38

Donki, if I can get YD to sleep can you get SB to sleep for me?

Donki · 19/05/2014 21:18

Swap!

Have just dosed the YD with sudafed. He's coughing rather a lot, which isn't helping.

?Eyes rubbet mallet thoughtfully?

Want to borrow it!

Donki · 19/05/2014 22:56

Cough cough cough cough.....

The sound of the YD upstairs. :(

Scout19075 · 19/05/2014 23:27
Sad
Donki · 20/05/2014 06:56

The YD managed to sleep through all his coughing once he fell asleep. It was me it kept waking up.

Yawn.

CMOTDibbler · 20/05/2014 07:44

One very large espresso coming up Donki.

Donki · 20/05/2014 07:58

Thanks CMOT
And I'm tucking in to Mellor's revivifying and energising breakfast.

(Just what does he put in it? Or shouldn't I ask? )

CMOTDibbler · 20/05/2014 08:05

Best not to ask eh? Least said, soonest mended etc

Scout19075 · 20/05/2014 08:57

Yeah, don't ask Donki.

SB didn't fall asleep until after 9, despite spending most of the day outside at the park and paddling in the brook and the mud and bringing most of the park home with him. He woke up sometime after it was light out, crawled into bed with me, shouted probably not really but it sounded like it when I was asleep "Good morning!" and promptly fell back to a sound sleep curled up on my back. I woke up first, came downstairs; MrScout woke up, got up and ready then left for work; SmallBoy woke up, came running downstairs, curled up on the sofa chair and cried because he woke up all alone.

I just made Amaretto and Almond Apricots which proceeded to explode in my water-bath canner. Damn, I lost all of the good alcohol. Will get more apricots when we're in town for the library and swimming and will try again tonight. Bah.

CMOTDibbler · 20/05/2014 09:13

Oh, rats Scout.

Tiddler is 8 today. He danced off to school in his new Minecraft t shirt (they wear their own clothes on their birthday) in a very jolly mood following a breakfast of cake.

Donki · 20/05/2014 09:20

Happy Birthday to Tiddler - and happy Minecrafting...

Sympathy for SB - I know what he feels like.

The YD has regressed obsessions several years and rediscovered Transformers. He has said he wants us to be happy like we used to be - so I suspect it is no coincidence.

Now instead of Minecraft monologue morning, noon and night, I am treated to detailed demonstrations of how they all transform and who combines with who - and "which Transformer do you want to be Mummy?"

mistlethrush · 20/05/2014 09:41

Happy birthday to Tiddler! I can't believe they're all getting so un-tiddly!

Donki - I hope he's not too bad cough-wise today. Had you considered an allergy to some pollen that he might have been more exposed to because of the dog walk? Even I am having to have the odd antihistamine at the moment as my eyes are itchy due to something.

AnneOfCleavage · 20/05/2014 09:42

Happy birthday Tiddler Cake Smile

Annoyed at DH who has [says through clenched teeth] thoughtfully invited 3 extra DC over after school Friday so that DD and they can have their secret club in our shed ala secret seven style. Thing is Friday is their school trip and it is walking all day from 9am until 3.30pm as they are exploring the local town. I am a parent helper on said trip so would have been with them all day and could do with putting feet up (also have the mother of bad monthlies just started and am in agony). Told DH he has to shop, cook and ferry them all on Friday but I know it won't work out like that as he'll be working for some of it and DC only want mums cooking etc. Also have 3 DC staying Sat night as DDs cousins are down and we have a small house so it will be hyper city as they are 9, 10, 11 & 11 yrs old so big and boisterous. No room for parents to stay so they are staying elsewhere so I have to be the parent to all 4.

Feels thankful half term is coming up...

Scout19075 · 20/05/2014 09:51

Happy Birthday, Tiddler! Very cool that they can wear their own clothes on their birthday (though what about the kids with term-break birthdays like me and SmallBoy?).

Oh Donki.... Sad Would you like to borrow SmallBoy for early-morning cuddles & wake up.

Anne-- does sound like half term to me! Means no swim class for SB next week and lots of extra kids hanging around the parks.

beanandspud · 20/05/2014 19:30

Happy Birthday not so tiddly any more Tiddler! Cake

CMOTDibbler · 20/05/2014 20:14

I agree an antihistamine would be worth a try - dh, ds and I are all on them atm due to general runniness, and coughing in the case of ds.

Scout, if your birthday is on a non school day, you wear your own clothes on the nearest school day. Its nice as everyone makes an extra fuss, and I think that for someone like ds who only gets us singing to him (and only a present from us) etc it makes it a bit more special.

Scout19075 · 20/05/2014 20:39

Oh, that sounds good CMOT. Shame my birthday is bang in the middle of the school summer holidays so I wouldn't get a non-uniform day.

I can't believe it's half-term next week already.

I have an British etiquette question. At the end of the term SB will be moving up/changing swim classes. He's had the same instructor since he was 4-5 months old but in September will have a different teacher. Would it be weird to have SB write his teacher a card and give her a token gift (like a box of chocolates or something)?

beanandspud · 20/05/2014 20:57

Scout - that sounds like a lovely thing to do particularly since she's been with SB so long.

Donki · 21/05/2014 07:13

Hmmm.
Need to work out how to make MrD's vists less painful.
X needs to see him here at the momebt.
That means MrD has to come for tea (or YD wouldn't see him unti 7.00pm ish - and he is in bed by 8.00pm when he has his story)

Last night I took NDNhound for a long walk. But that won't always be possible. For one thing I will need to work when I am back at school
