Why does he need to see him in the house - could they not 'go out' for tea or something so that he doesn't have to come for tea? Grrrr makes me so cross on your behalf! Angry

Donki · 21/05/2014 09:46

Partly it is so that MrD can do bedtime, but also so that the YD can do things that are important to the YD with daddy. Play with his transformers with him or show daddy what he has done on minecraft or built from Lego.

MrD gets back too late to cook tea for the YD who is in any case refusing to go to the flat at the moment because it 'smells wrong'

Going out for a meal would be possible but would mean bed time was late - which the YD does not cope well with. And I would be the one picking up the pieces in the morning. It would also make playing with MrD harder.

So I am trying to find ways to help me cope.

mistlethrush · 21/05/2014 09:53

If MrD could agree to a regular evening, perhaps you could arrange to have a club or hobby that night.

Donki · 21/05/2014 10:26

I think that's what I'll do.
Thursday is the evening he wants to do - but this week MrD is away on Thursday. So it was Tuesday instead.

Thumbwitch · 21/05/2014 17:35

Donki that does sound dreadfully hard for you but I agree it would probably be best if you found something to do outside of the house, but something that it wouldn't matter too much if you had to miss it, because chances are that MrD isn't going to be MrReliable about coming on the same night every week, is he? So sorry that YD is finding it all as difficult as he is too.

Scout - I haven't exactly forgotten to send you the tearoom t-shirt, it's just I haven't exactly remembered to do it either, I'm so sorry. I WILL do it.

Belated happy birthday to Tiddler - hope he had a great day.

Titchwitch came up with a corker today - it's DH's birthday - he told me off when I picked him up from school for not providing class fairy cakes. I couldn't think why I needed to, because there's no event that I'm aware of, but he seemed to think I should have sent in fairy cakes because it was his Daddy's birthday! I soon put him straight!

Thumbwitch · 21/05/2014 17:36

Oh, and I agree Scout that it would be a lovely idea to give SB's swimming teacher a present, how kind of you. :)

AnneOfCleavage · 21/05/2014 19:28

Hey Thumb how are you? We used to be on threads with Pesto and Knottylocks a few years back (it's Lippy with a new name change). Haven't seen any of you around lately although remember you having another boy a while back - how's it going? Are Knotty and Pesto okay?

A happy birthday to your DH too Thumb Smile

Thumbwitch · 21/05/2014 20:02

Hello! No I don't know how they are either, haven't seen them around.

I did indeed have another boy, which is why I sort of dropped out of the tea room, even though all the lovely ladies in here wouldn't have minded me staying. He's 19mo old now, time whizzes past! Not much of a baby any more.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for DH :) and I hope your weekend isn't as manic as it's looking like it's going to be! Shock

Scout19075 · 21/05/2014 20:43

How are you this evening, Donki?

Don't worry, Thumb, I know you're busy. As long as I can do one picture of him in it by October 27th it's all good. Grin

CMOT, how was the rest of Tiddler's birthday?

Anne, have you stocked up on the Wine and Cake to get through the weekend?

I'm going to miss SB's swimming instructor when he moves up. She's almost like part of the family. Grin She did say to me last term that it's been really nice watching him and his BFF grow up from infants to school children.

Walked SB to the big playground on the other side of town (approximately two miles from ours if you total up all the twists and turns through the fields, trees and following the paths). Played for two and a half hours (with his BFF and BFF's LB) and then came back. He was practically falling asleep during his pre-bed program and even said "I'm sooooo tired, Mommy." Took him up, had a wash and a long story so why oh why was he still awake t 8:20?!?!

Donki · 21/05/2014 21:06

The YD is very happy because we got him an unexpected present to celebrate the end of SATS week. A much desired (and despaired of ever getting) transformer...

He couldn't believe his eyes when I gave it to him this evening.

I have spent most of the day feeling very angry with MrD and trying to do things physical to use up the adrenalin.

UniS · 21/05/2014 22:26

Hurrah for the end of SATS and an unexpected transformer.

Anyone care to join me with a swift beer?

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 21/05/2014 22:39

Beer - yes please.

Unis - K12 is age 11-12 and it was on the snug side for MC last year (he was 8) (Blush)

Really looking forward to half term. Off up to rain and wide, empty (windswept) beaches. We're packing waterproofs - and the dog's winter coat!

Thumb, nice to see you here... still good place to hang out and frankly I don't think number of children really matters here (normal rules applying of course).

Donki · 21/05/2014 23:25

A large bucket of red wine please. The tea roo m is the only place where I can have any whilst I am on the Citalopram...

UniS · 21/05/2014 23:30

One bucket of wine coming up.

Wetsuits - MT , I think the Nalu wet suit I have that is too big for boy is the same torso length as the K12, but you are welcome to try it in July. Might just get boy a long suit from ewetsuits.com , £25 is a very good price for a long leg and sleeve kids wetsuit. DH has just bought one of their adult ones and build quality looks good.

Donki · 22/05/2014 00:08

Thank you UniS Wine

mistlethrush · 22/05/2014 00:59

If its the same length as the K12 Unis (wouldn't surprise me) we'll leave it I think thanks (will still bring this one down though). The K12 was very much snug last year - we'll probably get a couple of sizes up so that we get 2 years of wear out of it - might be on the baggy side this year, but shouldn't matter too much!

Donki · 22/05/2014 07:22

Cough, splutter.

?Takes a large bucket of honey and lemon and curls up in her non-flammable hay pile near the fire?

AnneOfCleavage · 22/05/2014 15:01

MIL has just informed me we are doing a BBQ for everyone on Sunday. her words "Don't you remember you said you would" - um no I don't remember any such thing. DH is working Sunday and we are out with him helping so won't be back until 5.30pm. DH said that we'd just do a giant risotto as that will be easier as everyone is 13 people in total. We have a small house and a dining room table to seat 6 max.

The weather better be good and yes I do have plenty of wine, thanks for thinking of me Grin

Donki, I too was on Citalopram a while back. Experienced scary side effects at the start but it did the job it was supposed to do. Did you get any nasty side effects. I was on 20mg then when I felt better went down to 10mg. I was on them for anxiety but my DBro was on them for depression so I guess it works for both as they go hand in hand the Dr said. Hope they're working well for you Smile

Wow Thumb a nearly 2yr old where does the time go!! That must mean Nickelbabe has a 2.5 yr old now then Smile

Scout19075 · 22/05/2014 16:09

Watching the storm roll in....

Scout19075 · 22/05/2014 16:10

...and now being pelted with rain.

Scout19075 · 22/05/2014 16:16

And the storm has passed for now.

AnneOfCleavage · 22/05/2014 21:13

Yes, we too had the storm today. Came out of a shop and big flash of lightening followed by crash of thunder and torrential rain. Hope the rain keeps away tomorrow as have school trip all outdoors all day tomorrow and don't relish getting soaked at 9am and being in soggy clothes all day.

Are you not feeling well Donki? Sad Love lemon & honey when unwell, so soothing. Hope it passes soon.

Donki · 22/05/2014 22:47

Anne:
I have a coughy, fluey cold. Not too bad, but I feel very tired.

Most of the scarey Citalopram side effects have worn off except for a dry mouth and severe constipation (apologies for tmi)

I hope you didn't get too wet today Scout. We too have had variously, light rain, rain and RAIN today.

UniS · 23/05/2014 10:49

Got V wet yesterday, but was dressed for it. Glad I'm not working on a festival site today as todays rain is persistent rather than showers, which is just miserable when the site is already muddy.

Ear runs for donki, and Gf, Df choclate cake all round.

Got a phone call from school this morning.
The YD needed casual clothing for today - and no one had made sure that he wrote it into his planner (TA was off ill)
So he had no idea that he needed different clothes this moring, and was very distressed to be the only one in Year6 in uniform.

At least this time he managed to explain what was wrong to the TA - so I took in his favourite clothes. All well now!

I also managed to talk (briefly) to his teacher to find out what on earth he was supposed to be doing with two pages of script that he brought home. He thought that he had to learn the whole thing - and was refusing even to try (reasonable, he really struggles with memorising things like that).

Once more no note in his planner explaining for the terminally confused parent who can't mind read. And they KNOW the YD won't remember the instructions. Especially about anything that would raise his anxiety levels.

He doesn't have to learn any of it - it was for those who wished to audition for the year 6 leavers play (his idea of hell would be standing up and doing that) PHEW!
