I thought I'd try and start a friendly chatty thread here on the ND board. All are welcome. Bring a cuppa.

I'm whiskeyaramadillo. I'm late 40s and AuDHD. I have a ND parent and two ND children - my third DC is NT ish. I work full time and live on the western edge of London but my heart is firmly in the countryside which is where I grew up. I have one black and white cat who is my sunshine although he is in my bad books today after bringing in a mouse.

Today (Sunday) I'm sorting out my very very messy house - again. Making sure homework is done and uniforms are clean. Putting endless pants and socks in drawers. If I'm lucky I'll get to lie on the sofa and continue reading 'Wintering' by Katherine May or watch a bit of a crappy fantasy movie with a giant mug of tea.

What is everyone up to today?

I'm currently in bed with hip problems..I'm seeing a physiotherapist this week..my daughter his hyper mobility..and I'm pretty sure that's what's causing my problems to ...ugh 😩

JewelleryCat · 04/10/2026 08:44

Hip problems aren’t good, is it arthritis?

Newyearsparkle · 04/10/2026 09:08

I think hyper mobility has caused a weakness ..as this has happened about 4 times in the past .

Newyearsparkle · 04/10/2026 09:08

How are you doing @JewelleryCat

Having a bad CFS crsh but hopefully coming out the other side of it. I also have hypermobility which doesn’t help my joints. I use painkillers and voltarol which seems to help occasionally

Hello everyone, just found this thread and thought I'd pop in and say hi. Newly diagnosed as AuDHD at the age of 49 and still trying to figure out how to navigate my new perspective. Definitely finding myself much more aware of where my limits are (eg, way more aware of how much noise distresses me) and wonder how I managed to push through for so long.

JewelleryCat · 08/10/2026 08:19

Welcome @LennySparkles 🙂

We are a small and quiet thread but do feel free to vent as much as you want. With noise, have you tried loop earplugs?

Newyearsparkle · 09/10/2026 15:02

Hi Lennie sparkles
Nice to hear from you ,yes it's definitely difficult getting used to the diagnosis and trying to advocate for yourself, especially if everyone in your life is quite happy to always let you push yourself to burnout because it means less for them to be responsible for .
You might find you get some push back if people are used to you doing what you do ,and then you decide to pull back and they need to step up ..they probably won't want to .
Sometimes we have to prioritise ourselves
