Read Isabel Wilkerson on Caste.
Really good.
Articulate Muslim or minority women speaking up about their own lives as if they are equals...not allowed. It breaks the system and the social hierarchy.
You're meant to be Othered so other can talk ABOUT you and virtue signal that way.
Every time I identify as a non-white woman online...PLOP....here comes someone to put me in my place and contradict me.
Safe spaces are hard to find. Universities and schools can be total cessholes for racism, and then you're not allowed to show solidarity or show you're a multi dimensional human being online.
Instagram and Substack can be great for finding kindred spirits. Curate what's going in.
I'd recommend
Middle east eye
Sarah of magdalene
The humanity archive (Dr Jermaine Fowler)
Novara media
I've subscribed to Elif Shafak and Brown history on Substack but haven't had time to really see how they are.
To quote from Wilkerson's amazing book "they don't have the monopoly on humanity". You got this.
(Waiting for someone to jump in and "correct" this post and thread...one ...two..three)
